Hydrocraft is a mod based around crafting and filling in the empty world of zomboid with more stuff. It is inspired by survival crafting games like Haven and Hearth. It is very much a WIP and will be tweaked and added onto. Please try it out and let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions/ideas.

Hydrocraft v1.0 has finally been released! Its very much a work in progress and has lots of unfinished stuff, but I have been holding on to the mod for too long. I would like the public to test it and give feedback. I know there is a lot more to do but I thought you guys would like to try it out.

I'm definitely trying this, one question know does this add new recipes or anything like that for example can a canteen be filled with water and act like a water container? Both ways yes or know this is great!

Yes Canteens can be filled with water as well as other water holding containers.

I will try to post all recipes in this thread soon. Many objects don't have recipes yet. The Compost Bin is ...

recipe Build Compost Bin    {    SkillRequired:Carpentry=3;Farming=3,    keep Hammer,    Nails=2,    Plank=2,    Worm=5,    Result:HCCompostbin,    Sound:PZ_Hammer,    Time:250.0,    }

Which means you have to have at least Carpentry lvl  3 and Farming lvl 3 to build it.

Aha! So that's why I couldn't craft the Compost Bin. Not enough Farming.

I'm curious as to where/how we would find clay, or other mining resources? Is it based on location with Foraging, or do we need tools as well to mine?

I just saw that you've used some of my sprites! Awesome!!!

I have a bunch I never bothered to release and all in png format. I'll gather them up and put up a drop box link for them so you can use them as you wish. This looks like a great mod.

In playing with Hydrocraft, I've found a few items that don't show any art icon, namely Monkey Wrench, and Compas.

 

I've finally gotten the prerequisite skills to build a Compost Bin, but I still do not get the option to build one.

 

I'm also getting errors about "TreeDamage .25 is not a valid parameter in item:" for the following items
HCBroom
HCMop
HCPushbroom
HCCane

HCRake

 

My server is also getting stack traces when loading HCLoading.lua, Line # 504 at server start, but the server is still running normally.

 

Another error in HCScavengeDefinition.lua, Line # 160 at server start, but again, server runs fine.
EDIT: Seems you referenced HCCharcoal instead of HCCoal at this line. I changed it over, and now I'm finally foraging the new forest items, such as clay and ore.

Also, for the life of me, I can't find any place to collect Red or Grey clay.

Thank you for this mod. I really appreciate your work here. I would really recommend it if you would make Mini-tutorials for some items... also there are some items which are unobtainable i think.

Tutorials like to get Clay or how the Composter works etc. :)

Really cool so far, haven't had a chance to explore everything as I just installed it this morning. Noticed one little thing though: the sprite that displays for "Hairspray" is actually a hairdryer.

 

I'm really looking forward to the rest of this mod, so I'll keep playing with it and let you know if I find anything else!

I'm really liking this mod, the only issues i have right now is with clay and metallurgy. im guessing is not implemented yet? anyways cheers and keep up the good work.

I think so. The Autor said there are many items which got no recipe yet. Im looking really forward for it. It looks so great so far!

Hydrocraft v1.1 has now been released. It has fixed many of the bugs and now has many more items. It also include both custom art from WolfeClaw but also his mod Improvised Containers.

 

thanks for all the feedback you guys.I was already aware of most of those bugs but the one about the tree damage I was not. So thanks TheRezAbides! And ibenel there is not much to say about getting clay. You forage and clay will eventually come up as an item you can get, just like the base game stones or berries. As for the compost bin, well I mentioned how in an earlier post.

hydro :v but what about metallurgy, can you give us some insight?

 

You should be able to make ingots from ore you find or recycling objects. You just need to make a smelter, log ingots, gloves and tongs. See the 2nd post with crafting recipes.

 

At the moment you cannot make very much from them other than say nails, bullet tips, bullet casings and anvil. More stuff will come in future updates.

would playing on another map, for example new denver, affect gameplay and loot and such?

 

It shouldn't since loot is taken from exiting game tags such as "Kitchen" or "Crate". I have not tested New Denver yet but I know it works in Bedford Falls.

Upgraded to Hydrocraft 1.1 on my private server I share with a friend, now getting "Cannot load "Hydrocraft.HCCaterpiller" item. Make sure all mods used in save are installed." errors in the log when trying to view foraged bugs.

I also have Carpentry and Farming both at 5, and still cannot build a Compost Bin. Should it be in the "Build" right-click Menu, or as a context item by right-clicking one of the items in your inventory?

Sorry about that. It was mainly to fix the spell from "Caterpiller" to "Caterpillar".

 

Compost bin should be an "Item" and not a placable "Object". While we have plans (including art) for it to be a placeble object we have not figure out how to get it to work yet. So its just a holdable item at the moment.

We may be missing a ; in the code for the skill requirement. We will try to get it fixed by the next version.

 

With "new" Catapillars I'm picking up, it's not displaying the icon art correctly. Time to go bughunting with bugs. :D

 

Looks like a , was missing from the Caterpillar code. Thanks for finding these.

Great mod! Just a suggestion but maybe change "Qtips" to "Cotton Swabs" as the former is likely legally protected somehow. Just like how the dev's stopped using "band-aid" and use "adhesive bandages" now.
