    You're so right Geras. Is it just me or do all the professions seem just a little weak to y'all? How is it that someone who's never even seen a circuit in his life over the span of three months get better at jurryingrigging electrical devices but someone who studied it in college and adopted it as a profession? Who needs college when you can read a few books right? I honestly think that all the professions need a buff and I also agree they need more to make them stand out. Like, you could make the angler profession be able to catch bigger fish more regularly. The farmer profession knows how to get the best yields from a harvest and as y'all said knows when to plant the crops by, Park Ranger is able to get more rarer plants since they know the land and are familiar with where plants would typically be at (Different plants require different conditions even in their ecosystems), hell you could make the burger flipper more endurance cause any fast food job *requires* endurance. I get why they're a little weak, you shouldn't be able to get all the skills right off the bat but I do think they just need a slight buff regardless if not only to make them more unique as well as valuable. There really should be a whole update in general just completely reworking the values on skills and how fast it takes to get certain ones to make the progression more linear and even.

    Currently(in build 41) you panic a lot when you first spawn, and that gradually reduces as you survive(due to being acclimated to the existence zombies). this mechanic has no real indicators that it happens(besides less of a panic moodle). What i propose is that this get shifted into an attribute(like fitness or strengthen) maybe called courage or wits or some synonym of it.
     
    character would start with a  default value of 5(like the other 2 attributes) with existing  and traits new affecting these values
    Brave would be +2, 
    Coward -2 
    Paranoid(new, gives 4 trait points) 
    Desensitised +5, (granted at start by veteran occupation rather than a selected trait like it currently is)
    All phobia's -1(hemo, agora and claustro)
     
    to make it easier all phobia's are mutually exclusive with each other and brave
    At lvl 0 skill you always max panic at the sight of a zombie
    Lvl 3 replaces Paranoid with Coward
    lvl 5 removes coward, default char behaviour
    lvl 7 gains brave
    lvl 10 replaces brave with Desensitised (same as veteran, realistically not going to be maxed out in a normal game like fitness or strength), removes phobia's
     
    Skill could either be gained by not panicking at the sight of zombies, and/or having panic return to 0
     
    Could also be applied to NPC's once they are in game to determine their reaction to things and make them braver over time
    no courage= always run from danger
    low= only takes small risk fights/situations
    moderate courage=sticks around if reasonable chance of success, retreats when wounded
    High courage=riskier fights, fights on despite wounds unless severe
    max courage=NEVER Surrender
    player may be able to tell allies up to there courage level for how to react(so you don't have suicidal allies)
     
    Pros
    You can now see your characters progress on this hidden mechanic hemophobic now has a real drawback slightly more interesting traits in character creation can be applied to npc's  
    Cons
    figuring out balance hemophobic may be seen as even more free trait points due it being removable more work for the devs to do

    Most of the professions need a rework imo. Also, every profession should have some kind of special trait to distinguish them more.

    that is the best idea i ever heard about farming
    i'd just add a little input:
    the crops being seasonal is great and the farmer displaying informations is even better, but if there is no element of randomness (like the random poison berry for foraging) then people will just compile a spreadsheet with timetables for seasonal plants. 
    i mean, this should be possible to an extent but i think the farmer should have a more precise information so that he gets an extra buff to his planting

    I think a buff should come in the form of an update to farming in general, with seasonal crops being a major part of it.
    Farmers, unlike other occupations, would be able to tell exactly when to plant their crops, as it would be displayed in the seed's info, anyone else would have to figure it out through trial and error as their crops either grow and flourish or wither away fast.
    They'd also have a greater effect on the crops everytime they water them and treat them for illnesses and such.

    Could we please get a buff for the farmer profession? Farming is honestly one of the easiest skills to upgrade, plus honestly it doesn't really make much sense to them only to have skills in *just* farming. You could give them a +1 to maintenance, since maintainin' and repairing farm equipment, be it a tractor, your power tools or simpler tools is something most rural American farmers do. My godfather's dad who lived on a farm all his life maintained most of his tools instead of buying new ones which is why he's had them for some twenty odd years. Even the chef profession gets maintenance skill but the farmer doesn't??? The most maintenance chef's typically do is sharpening knives! You could even give them a +1 to long blunt skill, since they're used to using shovels, rakes, pickaxes, etc. Which does require some time to aim right since you always wanna hit the dirt at its weakest point and it requires some know how to effectively use those tools. Hell you could give 'em +1 shootin'! I've never known a farmer who didn't own a shotgun down here in rural southern America. Farmers are used to needing one to scare away hogs, deer and on occasion birds who try to eat the crops! As it stands the farming profession is highkey one of the more useless ones which is sad and farmer's know how extends out farther than just knowing about crops, they also have a basic knowledge of the land as well as survival. This is just my two cents and I'd like to see if anyone here agrees with me here. Cause as it stands professions like Carpenter, Engineer, Veteran or even Electrician are objectively better professions to take.

    My jaw literally fucking dropped when I saw the runner zombies. They look disgustingly brutal and I have no idea how anyone could survive if all the zombies were runners. That's just ridiculous.

    Will silencers for guns ever be an option by the way? At least in the Survivor mode?
    The gun variety is amazing in build 41, I'd love to be able to make a character that sneaks around and uses silenced guns to kill while having to scrounge for bullets. Currently firing a gun still attracts the entire neighbourhood.

    Oh my GOOOOODDDDD I LOVE the way the new holster system works! One thing I've ALWAYS loved the concept of but never really saw any game do is actually having your gear visible and I'm so glad Zomboid is taking this approach! It'll allow for a much more in depth character customization options and maybe, just maybe. I'll get killed by fewer diaper wearing bandits now!

    Yeah like EG said, that's exactly what we've heard with every single change to the look of characters so far, which was like four times since the games inception.
    Lots of doom and gloom posts about how things won't look good or out of place. Instead of looking at a still, wait until you can play it yourself and then holla at us again. The general consensus of those who have played it is unanimously positive.

    No need for the snark, seriously, I know you're frustrated but we've like pushed expected release to likely around, possibly after Xmas to sometime to the next few weeks, at great expense and some risk, to get this out as soon as possible. The testers having some fun is a good sign as that would be a core factor in us being close to releasing IWBUMs, would you prefer they were all having a miserable time and we were weeks from a release?

    The bug with the water is due to the map being made by @Xeonyx  before Yuri's water changes, where the shaders that overlay the water don't behave with the unorthadox use of using the water for a fountain instead of a body of water.

    high-res wise - weirdly its going to help in almost all cases. Animations currently degrade performance but not as much as it was, and we'll continue to improve as we go.
