And while we are it, introducing new traits would be useful too. A sharp sense of smell or something like that, where the radius is bigger of detecting bad smells.

This. So much this. Long periods of isolation have drastically negative impacts on the human mind, it's quite well documented.
Shell-shock [AKA Battle Fatigue, AKA Operational Exhaustion, AKA Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.] is another well documented condition of constant high-stress and fatigue.
Depression, anxiety, loneliness, these things are all burdens which start small, and grow over time.

A player who interacts with others (that is, doesn't just run down the street shooting everything that moves, but legitimately spends time around other people.) avoids being in too deep too often, and does what they can to keep their mind occupied in happy, or functional ways would build up a tolerance for the increasing pressure and stress of the situation. Eventually coming out of the other side of the fire forged a little harder, a little hardier.

But someone who takes senseless risks, spends long periods in isolation, and has too much time to sit and dwell on how bad things are... well, they're not going to be doing so well four to six weeks down the road, are they?

I think there is legitimate merit to this, but it should be a double-edged sword. A person already desensitized could be pushed to the breaking point, a person who doesn't have that personal discipline could acquire it if they acclimate properly.

Migoxiss reacted to Stormc12 in Button Toggle to see things above the level your player is on
With multiplayer and soon-to-come NPCs, having the ability to see the tops of buildings will be essential, which is hard when in dense urban areas. A simple toggle for this would help out with seeing the tops of roofs, or simply seeing how high a building is without going inside of it
Say a rouge survivor is on top of a building sniping random survivors? You wouldn't be able to see him unless you are in a clear area or he yells at you.

    Survivors, Zomboid Team,

in the apocalypse its important to check your log walls or fences from zombie-damage in your daily management routine. It might be a good idea to implement something to visualize the current stage damage of such structures.

Thanks and keep up the quality!

I don't know if a recent patch has changed anything or of if its just in my head, but here are some observations I've made on my most recent character:
Lucky: Much weaker than I've ever noticed before. I'm a few weeks in, looted the WP tool shop, Factory and Storage yard and all I've found is a single axe - no Sledgehammer. I've less canned food and chocolate than before too. Feels in general like I'm playing without the perk.
Inconspicuous / stealth perks in general: Huh. Maybe I was just unlucky before but I never had any joy with stealth. This time though, I'm playing a thief with inconspicuous and graceful and its actually pretty noticable. I might actually take these again in the future.
Weak / Obese / Strong / Fit: I think the points are fairly balanced for these actually. Perhaps the exp needed to level up strength and fitness could be reduced, but only by a little. At the moment, whatever you pick is never going to change by more than a level or two, and that's if you get a really good run. Maybe if they levelled up faster but could also degrade to compensate? That would also male the XP modifier from the perks more relevent.
Hemophobic: Not a massive effect, but its not worth a massive amount of points so I can't see a problem with it. I pick it if in trying to squeeze out a few extra points for a specific perk and can't quite afford it.
Claustrophobic / Agoraphobic : Personally I never take either of these. If I was to suggest how I would rather see them implemented it would be to give players stage one (minor) panic in relevent areas (as opposed to maximum) and then attach a multiplier to any other sources of panic received - so if a claustrophobic character has a zombie lunge and them when indoors, THAT is what will send them over the edge. I'm aware that might not to super realistic, but it seems like it might be less crippling from a gameplay point of view.

I'm on board with a few folks that have posted saying we need slightly more revealing descriptions of all the traits. Until we know more about how specific traits work, there's no real way to judge their relative value.

Having a button to look behind you could be cool. It would represent looking over your shoulder. This would be possible while walking or running. It would allow you to see the horde behind you etc.

'that would be OP' i hear you cry!
well to be honest when moving away from zombies the biggest threat is whats in front of you. zombies are slow and can't catch up with you in most cases. Not looking where your going would be very risky! You could run into a horde of zombies or simply fun into a wall....  so whats the point of looking back? Well to see whats going on, to see what interesting stuffs happening.

Also while looking forwards it would be nice to lock the view dragged forwards, so you have maximum view distance.

Also I'm sorry as I imagine these two points have been mentioned before.

Or recycle feather dusters, or go foraging (once your foraging skill is at about 3, I think - I've so far found white feathers, striped feathers, black feathers and bluejay feathers, IIRC)

In response to this, I'd just ask one more question:

What would be more rewarding to you as a player?

    1) Organically setting up a community through hard work, sweat, and tears to a point where you feel you may have a chance at weathering the apocalypse, where you feel you've satisfied your personal goals for the game and succeeded in what you set out to do, or

    2) You're just playing the game and suddenly the screen goes dark and says "yay, you've met an arbitrary goal set by the game and now it's over!"

Because for me (and I think most of the rest of the player base, from my experience) we'd much prefer to reach our goals organically and decide on our own when we feel we've met them rather than have an arbitrary trigger from the game that does it for us. Once you add an "ending," suddenly the entire game becomes about reaching that ending- for everyone. It shuts down alternate play styles and stomps on the very idea and fun of a sandbox game. Suddenly people are just trying to cheese it to make it to the "end". And then after a while, they get it down pat (because all they ever do is try to reach that "end") and then the game's not fun anymore, because they've reached it for the 12th time and it wasn't that hard. Instead, we have a game where everyone's having fun in their own way with no pressure to try to reach some set goal. Each time you play can be completely different, with different goals and different ways of getting where you want to go. End games don't work well with the spirit of a sandbox in my humble opinion.

Will we get to see simple, domestic social interactions between NPCs? Like the group having dinner and discussing things or some survivors bonding over barricading, Zafehouse Diaries-style? I'd love to see interaction on that level.

Also, since lemmy wants the questions spread out, for Zach, The Music Guy:

What kind of evil genius possessed you to make use of ambient game sounds for the tracks? (Because it's confusing as hell and it makes me feel a bit schizophrenic when I imagine zombies banging on barricades when it's just the music. Whew.)

Was the paranoid effect intentional? Or did you just think it was a cool thing to do? Personally, I thought it was a cool thing until it started messing with my mind. Now I want my sanity back, thanks.

How will the NPC's react to the zombie apocalypse in the beginning of it? Will they act like players and just start looting houses and beating zombies to death with spoons? Or will they act more "normal" for example trying to get to a police station in hopes of the police force saving them? Listening to a radio / watching TV to figure out whats going on? Or just simply getting into their car and flooring it the hell out of major cities and areas infested with zombies? Etc...

    Hi everyone,

I'm sure you all know the drill, but we've done international versions of these more recently - so for newcomers this is basically an opportunity to ask us stuff about Project Zomboid which we'll then answer in next week's Mondoid, and possibly the next one too if there's a whole bunch of questions.

And of course, clicking 'like' on questions will clearly help us in seeing which questions are the most popular! We'd like to get a good spread of the PZ developers voices in the blog though, so please ask questions that cover all the various departments. Spiffo has also made himself available on this special occasion.

I think that's about it, but the question-asking cut-off point will likely be over the weekend. I'll appear in the thread to let everyone know when the questions have been gathered up.

    Thanks all!

Man, am I the only one that finds Lucky does nothing? I get bitten and or scratched as much as without this perk (Relatively aggressive playstyle ). I didnt find any axe in the big or small warehouse in Muldaraugh. Maybe I just had bad luck. But with the trait Lucky it shouldnt go that way....

Whoever says stepping on a lego is worse doesn't know his shit.

But yeah. As Rath said, a build having a stable release doesn't mean it is in its final form.
Plus, we already mentioned that build 33 will have certain other features so NOT having it on 32 would confuse way more people than the handful who thought we're done with 32.

Besides that, not sure I understand what would have been different if we had called it build 33?
Some people would have switched regardless and you'd be pretty much in the same spot, no?
