DresdenBBQ reacted to EasyPickins in RELEASED: Public Build 34.23
    Public 34.23 released!

There were many fixes and tweaks, here are the highlights:
All-new double-sized textures. Easy Co-op server hosting from in the game. Double-sized Tilesets option for low-spec machines. There's a new server-settings editor in-game. Barricades are allowed on both sides of a door/window.  For doors, barricades absorb all damage before the door takes any, to stop the door being destroyed before the barricades.  For windows, a barricade absorbs damage only when it is between the attacker and the window.  When removing a barricade, one plank at a time is removed. Allow rain barrels to be moved. Added SleepAllowed and SleepNeeded server options for multiplayer sleeping.  Players may sleep at any time.  When all players are asleep, the server clock speeds up.  Players sleep until they wake themselves by aiming or moving.  Players may wake other players.  Zombie attacks also wake players. Fireplaces work like campfires. Wood stoves now work like campfires.  They emit light, warm/dry the player, can be used for cooking, and don't require electricity. See-through doors. Hang sheets on see-through doors. Fixed walls and solid objects on the floor below blocking movement going up stairs. Staircases may now be placed above another staircase. Crates can now be moved with the furniture-moving commands.  When building new crates, the height is chosen automatically (no need to use the R key).  Currently, this allows stacking crates on top of tables as well, although that might change.  Destroying crates lower in a stack should cause the higher crates to drop down. Allow digging farm plots with a shovel.
The "levelup" sound only plays when a point may be spent. It plays in these 2 cases:
        1) The player gained a point while already having enough XP for a new perk level.
        2) The player gained enough XP for a new perk level, and already had a point to spend.
Added "Zoom Levels" checkboxes to the options so users can choose zoom levels.
Added "Pour into" submenu so you can choose what to transfer water into.
"Fill" is now a submenu of items that water can be transferred into instead of having separate menu items (when taking water from a sink, for example).
    Smoke bomb changes:
    - No longer start fires in multiplayer.
    - Now work when fire is disabled in multiplayer.
    - No longer emit light.
    - Don't burn corpses.
    - Use a larger smoke sprite when first triggered.
    Memory-leak fixes in multiplayer.
    Bags now displayed on ground.
    New community translations.
Ham icon looks far less like a penis.

OK we be tied then I agree with what you said about gunplay in the game. ORMtnMan told me one day that even if they wanted to, TIS couldn't buy the mod from him since he uses real names on guns (which contributes to the immersion imo) and that it would cost them a few kidneys to pay for royalties and stuff.

My point is we're very lucky we have this awesome mod the way it is and I'm sure we're both tied to a bunch of other nr.1 fans of ORGM

Keep up great work on mod can't wait to see new stuff <3

I have no clue if your trolling or absolutely serious but this game in my opinion is gr8 and it's constantly updated, the devs LISTEN which is just, astronomical. and normally they'll fix bugs and talk to the community to see what they think, they're always asking for the communities opinion so i don't know how you could say "zero dev support" And also this is a REALLY small development team, i mean by now most other teams would've thrown in the towl *cough* seven days to die. But they haven't so it WILL TAKE TIME for the game to get to a point where there are the little tedious features and problems that we all notice and disagree with and point out.
P.S (your comment killed more brain cells of mine than every time my brother forces me to listen to slob on my knob)

That feel when your idea gets dismissed. I still think I'm one damn fine looking cat, and that's why they follow me.

I know they'll never help you directly, but it'd be neat if we could send them a message by radio.
"Buzz off mate, can't you see I'm busy getting eaten alive here?" Then maybe they leave... Or shoot your for sassing them.

    Lemmy, you genius!
We're just on a giant set for "Thank God you're here!". Guess I should invest more points in the 'comedic improv' trait.

Seems a little naive in your confusion as to why the military would care or try and help.  This is a potentially apocalypse making quarantine, and you're right in the centre of it. I'm not sure if you watch TWD and remember the flashback scene of Shane in the hospital where Rick is? Or played Halflife. Or any other game or TV show or movie ever involving any quarantine event and the military? When we finally add the military soliders doing clean up sweeps into the game, are you going to run up to them going 'thank god you're here!'?

Suffice as to say the people in the helicopter, whatever they are doing, aren't out on a mission looking for survivors to help out.

I always figured it was a news copter from outside the quarantine zone, they wouldn't care about you getting swarmed and eaten as long as they get good footage.

    Assuming you use the Isometric-Mode.
To "rotate" stairs, all you have to do is:
    - choose the tile where you want the stairs and hover over it,
    - inside the "chosen" tile, you move your cursor left or right, to rotate the stairs. (then left-click to place it).

For now there are only 2 "directions" you can "rotate" stairs, not 4.

DresdenBBQ reacted to King Kitteh in An additional idea for the last Mondoid (May 2, 2016)
I've always considered what's in your main inventory to just be stored on your clothes and in your hands, and I'd assume that they don't require you squatting down or anything to take things from pockets and such. The idea of having your bat out of your bag is already in the game. You waste time taking it out, I know I always keep my bat on me person when I'm building or fishing and such so I can take it out at a moment's notice.

As for the cutting your finger idea? I don't like it, too much of a hassle. I could understand looking up causing the "moving bar" to pause. But to have to cancel moving items about just to look up for a moment, lest you get cut. Too annoying.

Somewhat unrelated, your post is a bit annoying to read. The title doesn't make it clear at all what the suggestion will be (I had to check the mondoid again), and you overuse bolding, italics, caps and underlines. It turned out a little cringey to read.

That's meant to be constructive criticism BTW. Also befitting to my user rank, I now supply this injection of loveliness in case it's taken the wrong way:

As I said, I am not sure it will be possible to render that. At least not yet/that I know about. Only high-powered rifles have really tight arcs.

Nice catch, I'll take a look for it.
As for the Hi-Power in .357 SIG, I'll think about it.
As for in game fixtures, that won't be until long down the road.

Oh, I beg to differ, I know nothing of modding before I started this project. I just figured things out by trial and error, and looking at how other similar things are coded. Also, googling LUA coding helps.

Anyway, I will be getting re-started soon. Life is still busy, but I think I can find some time.

    Thanks for sticking with me!

Hey survivors, here’s the latest from Zomboidton.
    IWBUMS 34.19
The marvellous EasyPickins continues to build some nice tweaks and fixes in to the public test of Build 34, which seems to be coming to a natural climax now – although we still need to work out which side of the release fence polished nutrition and metalwork will be landing. An item of note in .19 is EP’s new precipitation system, which looks nicer and opens the door to falling snow and whatnot. If you want to join in with testing you can find details here.
    BACKPACK LATEST
So with the animation update now surging through the pipeline we’ve got anims that allow the player to take bags off their back, and rifle through the contents on the floor.
As well as looking pretty as they jiggle about – they’ll also make a significant gameplay difference. If you’re carrying a bag on your back you will, in most cases, be unable to go rooting around in it unless you first take it off and put it on the floor in front of you. This means there will be no more intensive backpack resorting done while wandering around, as well as making looting much more interesting, with the potential of a panicked looter leaving their bag behind if they are not observant.

[Note: in the anim cycle the strap currently disappears when the bag is taken off and reappears when it’s put back on. There aren’t any easy ways to avoid this, but with clothing worn and in-game it will be far, far less noticeable.]
Holding a bag in your hand will add the extra advantage of being able to interact with it without stopping, which will make bag management much more strategic. Finally we may be able to look into a few more traits to further increase player’s capability to interact quickly with backpacks, as well as provide different speeds based on the type and convenience of the bag used.
If you weren’t around for the previous bag vid then let’s have another repeat, as it does look lovely.

    HELLO LADIES
To complement all this, character-wise, Binky is currently experimenting with unifying the textures between the male and female animation meshes. Currently our new player and zed anims are all chaps, y’see. The result of this (if successful) will be a more in-depth way of assembling the base models. We’ll lose the need to double-up textures – have more variety in skin tones, will let players wear whatever they like and will also tie into having blood and bandage overlays on the characters themselves.
With the base mesh and clothing overlays all using consistent texture layouts we’d be free to overlay this stuff wherever appropriate. Better clean that bite mark, dress the wound, and grab a clean long-sleeved shirt if you want to pretend you’re unscathed and not in imminent danger of eating your compadres!
    FINALLY
Do check out lovely Blindcoder, of map fame, and his new building mod. Thanks all!

That is how the guns were balanced in the vanilla game. I haven't gone through and done a rebalance of sound. You make a fair point for me to do so, when I get the time.

I'm working on adding more mods in a future iteration. However I will also point out that the aiming mechanics of the game just don't work that way. As Fuji hinted it is not like the twin stick shooters in which you get your target line on a zombie and fire, then it hits.

How the game works (something I can't change because it is hardcoded) is as follows:
    - First, the guns have aim arcs. So for instance, a high powered rifle may only have a 5 degree arc. This means that from the point of origin, your spread if a 5 degree sliver of a circle around you.
    - Second, there is the hit chance combined with the hit chance per skill point. These add together to show your character's accuracy.
    - Third there is a number of projectiles variable which details how many bullets are fired in one shot. Most guns shot a single projectile, but, shotguns shoot many.
    - Fourth, there is your min/max range. These numbers make it impossible/nearly impossible to hit outside that range.
    - So when you aim and pull the trigger, the game gets all those variables together. Gets all the zombies in your aim arc, checks if they are within the range values, then rolls to see if you hit.

That is why it would not make sense to have an aim-pointer on the screen. Not to mention I don't think there is a way to render one. Though, I have not looked into that.
