    #3 Car Logos

So the aim here is to add a teeny tiny bit of immersion with authentic car logos. I wanted to make them 100% original and, at the same time, add a little dejavu feel to them. I tried to show every car's original character as best I could.

Let me know what you guys think.

    #2 Vehicle Mechanics UI

    Categories.
So to stay splitscreen-safe, we have to make UI windows occupy less than a quarter of the screen, and man, it was hard to achieve this with the mechanics window. There is a lot of text to read when it comes to this window, so vehicle parts were grouped into categories. Every category shows the average condition of all parts in it, so you can quickly check a car with one glance.

    Specific parts.
To not repeat the positions (front left, front right, rear left, and rear right) condition icons were placed next to the corresponding vehicle part on the car blueprint. Oh, and the first category you see when you open up this window is "Main" with Engine, Battery, and Gas Tank.

    Details.
More detailed information placed on the right side. And if you think that there is too much empty space in there, I have a little something for you in the next post.

    #4 TV and Radio UI

    Immersion
I like to use an oven interface so much because it makes me feel like I'm actually cooking something. Turning a knob, hearing a little "click,"  and then hearing the bubbling sounds creates a pleasant feeling of real presence in this hostile but at the same time strangely cozy world. I tried to transfer this feeling to interactions with TV and Radio.

    Controller friendly.
Both interfaces should be easy enough to navigate on a controller.
BTW, if you haven't tried to play Zomboid on a controller, I recommend you try. This adds a lot.

Dirty and bloody clothes do currently increase the chance of a wound getting infected - this was added in build 39. Though it would be nice to see this go further with making the player sick, similar to how corpses do.

Figured I should add this here rather than making a new thread.

After the name change on the weather build of LightBulb -> Light Bulb
The context menu in ContextMenu_EN.txt is unchanged.

ContextMenu_RemoveLightbulb = "Remove Lightbulb" -> "Remove Light Bulb"
    and
ContextMenu_AddLightbulb = "Add Lightbulb" -> "Add Light Bulb"

Vaileasys got a reaction from Faalagorn in Jar of [Food] "minor" bugs
These are a few bugs I've noticed associated with all the Jar of [Food] in build 40.7.

    1. Cooking
They all have an "Uncooked" tag, which upon cooking, doesn't seem to do anything, apart from changing to "Cooked". Burning gives the usual +20 boredom and unhappiness, except it can't be eaten, only opened. Upon opening, nothing seems to have changed with the contents.

Possibly I'm missing something? I considered it might be part of the pickling process, however I don't think that's normal when pickling food. They are set to be cookable in newitems.txt. So maybe just leftover code after switching from making jam?

Snippet from newitems.txt, associated with each pickled food.
    OnCooked = CannedFood_OnCooked, IsCookable = TRUE, MinutesToBurn = 120, MinutesToCook = 60,
    2. Nutrition
While they can't be consumed as is, the nutrition values are shown if you have the nutritionist trait, although they are all 0 (zero). In newitems.txt they don't have any, not that they need them though. Just a minor hassle seeing the nutrition values.

    3. Opening
Opening a jar will only return the contents and the empty jar, but not the lid.

Maybe even include it as part of the Cooking skill. Say, level X you learn the nutrition values of foods that aren't considered as "packaged". Or if having it as a magazine, I'd recommend adding it as a cooking magazine, such as: Good Cooking Magazine Vol. 3

Since cold medicine isn't particularly "unique" in curing just a cold. Consider cough medicine, to reduce the player coughing. Or include pain as part of having a cold, giving another purpose for painkillers.

Vaileasys got a reaction from wanderinbilly in The wiki needs your help
The official wiki has unfortunately been left in the dust after the last few updates. So I'm asking if anyone is interested in contributing to getting the wiki back to a partially up-to-date state again, to please consider visiting the community portal to see how you can help.

Whether you're a beginner or veteran in Project Zomboid, there is definitely somewhere on the wiki that your time and effort will be needed and appreciated. If you'd like to help but are clueless about anything and everything, please do leave a message either in this thread, the community discussion page, my talk page, the steam thread or on the discord #pzwiki channel.

Don't be shy, I'm sure all new players would appreciate a more up-to-date wiki that you've contributed to.

Please consider contributing to one of the following projects:
Vehicles and Mechanics version 39 added a heap of new features including items, vehicles, mechanics skill and more, that are currently missing from the wiki. Spiffo's Construction Crew Metalworking has been pretty much missing since it was first added to the game along with the related items. Carpentry has also seen a lot of changes in its lifetime which may need to be added or updated. Seat Yourself Furniture Furniture has been one thing missing from the wiki which has become a fairly big part of the game since the addition of dismantling. More projects can be found in the Project Directory

The wiki is a place where the community can really come together and geek-out over the game, sharing knowledge and secrets they've discovered in their time playing. If you're interested in learning more about wiki editing, a number of help articles have been prepared for you, including a beginner's guide to editing. We have also prepared a list of priority issues that are in need of attention. For more out-of-date articles consider seeing these pages that haven't been updated since version 0.2.0p/0.2.0r (2012) and 2.9.9.17(11) (2013).

It would be cool to be able to craft those secret hideaway containers in the floorboards like you find in annotated map locations. I know you can claim safe-houses and whatnot, but in multiplayer, the one thing that stops me from playing this game on public servers versus my own private one, is loot being stolen. In games like Ark and Conan Exiles it doesn't matter because it's much easier to build containers, buildings, defenses, etc., but in PZ loot is rare and hard to come by. I feel like secret containers that you could put rugs over, for example, would be a great addition to the game.

Vaileasys got a reaction from trombonaught in Fire animation covered by snow
After playing around with explosives and the weather test, I noticed that the fire animations are hidden behind the snow, completely hiding fire if there's enough snow tiles nearby.

Also noticed it's blocked by train tracks and trees.

    Here's a screenshot of what I mean.

It's the exact same issue for smoke from the smoke bomb

Here are more screenshots showing it off.

Vaileasys got a reaction from Tails in Change to the pacifist trait?
I imagine that once NPCs are on their way to being added, they'll likely take a look over all the current systems like Moodles and traits to see what can be changed to benefit from them. Pacifist would definitely be one that I'd expect would need to be changed to accompany them. I agree with this suggestion anyhow.

+ one more problem I've got in the main build (or any?). I build double door and it works fine. But later when I load my save again I can't open it. It's locked like the key is needed =/

zombies pushed downstairs should be more vulnerable to pushing back, easier to knocked down, eventually get injuries from falling.
domino effect also would be something worth of watching if we have to fight off more than one zombie.
these features would be especially useful to everybody who decides to have safehouse on higher floors.

Entirely uncalled for, I'm simply explaining firearms are still viable, both modded and vanilla. I've used this play style in both. Sorry that they don't work for you, but your style of play is not the only way.
At any rate not going to get dragged into a argument about this.

Vaileasys reacted to Vortecus in Change to the pacifist trait?
So, the pacifist trait - is a pretty terrible trait to pick, purely because no one who's actually smart at the game uses firearms due to their inaccuracy and loudness. (You can create unmanageable hordes with a few shots; let alone the thousands of bullets that you have to waste to get a decent aiming skill where you don't miss 4 in 5 shots).

So; it's a terrible trait purely because melee weapons are the preferred weapon of choice and no one wants decreased XP for all melee related skills - not a surprise because of their stealthier approach to combat. And the +4 points that it gives you is purely not enough to persuade a smart person who plays the game to survive to pick the trait. So here's my balancing suggestion...

It's safe to assume that pacifists hate violence, right? So how about we add a very minute amount of unhappiness per zombie killed and a drastic amount of unhappiness for murdering a player (or human NPC). This will amount to at least 20-30 zombies killed in a day to get depressed, or be 1-3 humans murdered. This will add a permanent use to the antidepressant pills that are currently in the game; and will be the new smokers' cigarette. Pacifists will have to regularly take antidepressants to forget about the horrors of the apocalypse.

And due to the increased negative effects of having such a trait; the trait should give you +6 trait points, making the trait actually seem reasonable to use.
