harakka
as a European, we have actually been eating horse meat unknowingly the last couple years when we thought we were eating mince What sort of animal is this mince? Never heard of it. Mincing is a food preparation technique in which food ingredients are finely divided into uniform pieces. Minced food is in smaller pieces than diced or chopped foods, and is often prepared with a chef's knife or food processor. I am in fact aware of what mincing is. My "question" was mostly a dig at the idea that meat being minced somehow automatically excludes horses as potential originators of said meat. Guest
You should be able to run one of the trains on the train tracks and run zombies down with it, or you could build a home on the train and live like a hobo

Crowbar Felt
It would be pretty funny to see skateboards added. Imagine walking to West Point and a group of three people zoom past you on skateboards. Skateboard bandits!

If, for example, you could not walk due to distance between Mul. and WP then the car would have great value. Especially if there were some significant value to checking out that town. Viceroy
The map is already frustratingly large at times in my opinion, besides the sooner it starts being implemented the longer there is for us to test it and for them(TIS) to fine-tune them(cars). Etsamaru
I don't even care if I can drive them, I just want them parked all over and crashed all over and have some possible car alarms going off. Maybe turn up a car radio and run. 123Imirish, Sieben, Kajin and 1 other

harshbarj
Cars would be overpowered IMHO. Too fast, likely too much carrying capacity, and makes the player relatively safe. If added, there would need to be serious consequences, like attracting every zed for blocks around. Make it so bad, players have to park outside of town and leg it into town, or face a near overwhelming horde. I'm a fan of bicycles. Slower, limited carrying capacity, and low noise. Also, no gas, so you just need to keep a supply of food on you. Too keep it from being too overpowered there would need to be some negatives, like getting hungry or thirsty faster. ApolloDiaspora
I'm all for cars, particularly when the map gets larger.Build a few walls, plop a car alongside, rig up a tent, Bam. Reasonably well protected safehouse. I'd LOVE to see some form of small obtainable or player crafted vehicle (i.e: handcart, motor-trike or car with steel wheels) that would run on the train tracks in game. For efficient, long distance travel, nothing beats the low friction of steel on steel. Of course, moving a train off the tracks is significantly harder than moving a wrecked car out of the road, but you can't have everything Having some form of vehicle that requires care and maintenance, that opens up a range of possibilities for the player... We really need this. Scrounging for tools, supplies and skill books to repair that banged up army truck and turn it into an ad-hoc tank... Think of the gameplay possibilities Oh, plus we could hoon around in multiplayer as if it's Mad Max. Get a large truck working, armour it up, and you've got a mobile base that needs escorting by players on quadbikes unsaved_progress, parishkl and 123Imirish
SpaceJunk
I want cars, but only decorative. Like, everybody rushed to fill their cars and leave the city, then when fuel ran out they stole the gas from other cars, so all the cars left in the town are just as containers that can catch fire, sound alarms and lit the street until the battery runs out. 956Texas

Like, everybody rushed to fill their cars and leave the city, then when fuel ran out they stole the gas from other cars, so all the cars left in the town are just as containers that can catch fire, sound alarms and lit the street until the battery runs out. We can look at cars in one of two ways 1. What's 'realistic' ?2. What's good for the game? 1. In Mul I'd imagine there are almost as many cars as people. The great US of A is a big country and it's useful to have a car to get around much more so than say here in the UK although others would not attest to that. As (I'm pretty sure) I've already said, in the wake of a panic like this it'd simply be impossible to completely empty the fuel tank of every car. People would crash, people would panic and leave their car and so on.2. I'm not sure having lots of cars to get around is good for game balancing when the game is already painfully easy as it is. There needs to be trade-off. If there is one thing Minecraft has taught us[1] is that we appreciate something a lot more if we have to earn it. PZ understands this so you love your axe when you finally have it. You love your safe-house when it's finally built. And so it should be with cars. They all should have something wrong with them. Maybe a faulty spark plug, maybe a flat tyre, by taking one off another and putting it on the soon-to-be working car you'd appreciate it a lot more.If you then make the cars easy to damage by Z's. If you make running over Z's a very bad idea for the car. You'll treat it with care. Last point.I think the cars could be useful. There may be mini stories or perhaps something that ties in with companions or family that you need to drive to another town. At the moment there is only Mul. and WP. However if there were other towns which were over 20-30 + miles away then finding a car would have greater significance. It'd also give the game a wonderful The Walking Dead feel. 'We need to go here to try and find Ben' etc [1] Except that the sound 'Hsssss' is to be feared above all others. parishkl and Sieben

Kajin
I'd probably only ever use a car if I wanted to travel long distances or transport large amounts of heavy cargo. A truck would be awesome for gathering wood, actually. All terrain, four wheel drive. Get you out into heavily forested areas that are relatively safe and far from civilization where you can use a chainsaw to cut down an entire year's supply worth of lumber in a couple days of time. Vehicles would be extremely useful in a limited capacity like that, but I probably wouldn't be using them every day. Horses... Don't get me started on how much I hate horses. They're the single most useless animal you could possibly try to keep in PZ because the logistics for taking care of them are so steep you'd need a large group just to feed and care for one of those suckers. And not to mention the fact that they're extremely skittish. It's difficult to learn how to ride and control them and the sight of a single zed is going to throw one into a frenzy, buck you off, break your legs in the fall and leave you to die at the hands of the aforementioned lone zed. They're not a totally bad thing to have, but you wouldn't be able to bring them anywhere there might be zombies making them even more limited then a car which doesn't require near as much day to day maintenance. Etsamaru
I don't think cars keep you safe at all, if you think about it, all the zombies and other crashed cars would make it almost impossible to get around, imagine if you go the car running but all the cars all over made it impossible to get anywhere. Also you probably wouldn't know how to hotwire, that's not common knowledge for most people, and the likeliness of keys being in the ignition is small. Most cars you would find would be limited in gas, and in maneuverability, how would you get around anywhere with all the other cars parked on the streets? Real cars don't do too well off road, and most cars are going to be on the road. You could get stuck in mud, pop a tire, blow the engine, attract zombies hit a tree. Cars would make the game MORE dangerous. Possibility of Zombies IN CARS. On Cars, Under Cars. Getting stuck. If you hit something while driving you can injure yourself, head injury's back injuries, anything. Hit a zombie would probably still jolt you, hitting a horde would definitely damage your car. Hitting another car? You could potentially kill yourself, or make yourself bleed very badly. Oh you want to drive through town? Where are you getting out of that car, because I'm sure you just lured the horde right towards you, on no you got blocked by cars. You could go off road but that might ruin your car and you might hit some trees, if you drive back you are dead. I guess you have to get out of your car now. Oh the zombies are close no time to get the stuff out of the trunk. Cars are really only OP on empty and mostly empty roads, and without realisitc consequences. I imagine you would be running over metal, nails, broken glass, pipes, going off road could murder your tires, getting stuck in ditches, mud, really if done right cars could almost be a deathtrap waiting to happen. parishkl and 123Imirish

I agree with this 100% It's an excellent mechanic to limit the 'power' of cars. In many respects they could be a massive liability as demonstrated by: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Lies_Ahead Most cars you would find would be limited in gas, and in maneuverability, how would you get around anywhere with all the other cars parked on the streets? trebizond
I want to see unconventional vehicles with huge drawbacks. Like riding lawnmowers that can mow down zombies but makes a lot of noise or a steamroller that uses a lot of gas and is slower than a running zombie.I also want things that crash and explode a lot, ie helicopters
Kajin
Lawnmowers might be a good idea, actually. Not for mowing down zeds because that'll get you killed... But they don't use much gas and you can hook up dump carts to them for hauling stuff.
