    The idea

To slowly have the map detoriate over time, nature grows wild and the urban areas slowly decay.

    What will the mod do?

Currently the planning is for Erosion to add the following effects to the game:

Plantlife:Nature will slowly start to take over, popping up on natural tiles. Currently plants have 6 stages (low grass to tree), only the most fertile spots will reach the maximum. Random special objects with a very low chance of spawning (imagine a dead campfire and the likes). Streets:Big cracks in the road that gradually become more intense. Patches of cracked road where grass and stuff grows through. More litter and garbage appearing over time. Random special objects with a very low chance of spawning (a pile of zombie corpses for example). Houses (exterior):Cracks that can appear on over time. Vines that slowly takover a part of a wall. Windows have a chance to be broken over time (idea by RobertJohnson) Doors have a tiny chance to pop open at some point. Random stuff like smudges and what not.

Is why modding is a thing. We plan to distribute the map mod that RingoD's undoubtedly going to resurrect at some point. As you may probably know he compiles all the maps (with modder approval) he can get his hands on into one big uber map, so we can get it into the game as an alternate map choice and credit all the contributors. However we never want non-canon map stuff in the main game, cause that demo map is not somewhere in Kentucky or anywhere close to it.

re: OP this is amazing! Loving how fast you've got it all together.

I've been playing the build 23 for a few minutes now and something just gave me the chills big time. I had established a small base in the tavern in south Muldraugh, when I decided I'd go for a longer loot run to mid-Muldraugh. I hadn't left the vicinity of the tavern except to near the police station for a small fight and shouting competition and to the trailers nearby.

So I started wandering to the suburbs when I saw an open door. I thought to myself that I must have left it open when I've been looting. But then there was this voice inside my head saying: "I never leave doors open after looting..." I disregarded the door at first, but when I went closer I noticed that the window next to the door was open too. Now I thought that somethings amiss. I NEVER leave windows open after I climb through. It's really a reflex that I turn around and close the window.

Then I started looking through the house. The fridge was empty. Ok. I could have been here 'coz it's the first thing I do always. Then I checked the cupboards and found 20 rounds for a pistol and some nails. Now there's no way I could have missed all of them since they were all in different containers.

I decided to ignore the whole thing, because it was giving me the creeps to be honest, and pressed on to an area I hadn't been to before. Then I saw this:

    Spoiler
    Look at the window.

Why?!?! What have I done to deserve such a freakin' scare? I circled around the house a bit until I deared to climb inside through a different window. There was an open door inside the house too.

    *Scared shitless*

The questions are: Am I going insane?, Do I just have a shitty memory? or is this a similar meta-thingy as the gunshots, but a new one?

    Most importantly:
    Has somebody been here?

I give it to you Dear Watsons: 'When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth'?

    Project Zomboid Hardcore+
    Introduction
    Hello!

First of all i want to ask sorry for my English. This text possibly contains many mistakes. If you found some - please, write me in PM.
Project Zomboid Hardcore+ it's a global mod about hardcore.
The main goal of this modification - provide as many abilities as possible and make them easy to configure.

I release it much earlier as i planned to, because i wanna get feedback - is that actually interesting for someone?

    And.. sorry.. No dragons yet

    How it works?
This mod have both  Java and Lua parts. Original PZ code don't damaged and constains only one line of my code.
So, why i need Java? Right now - for nothing. But in future i have some crazy ideas that cannot be realized without Java.

    Features (aka "Modules")
Not much yet: as i say before it's only "testing" release i just want to know - is that interesting for players?
So, now mod constains only 1 feature:

    --> Combat

    1. "Weapons Fall Out"
When you fight with Blunt weapon it can fall out from the your hands. If you have high Panic or Pain levels chanсes to lose your weapon increase. Passive chance and maximum chance can be edited in configuration.

    Settings
Any "module" or "feature" can be fully custumize thought PZHP configuration file which located in C:/Users/%Your_User_Name%/Zomboid/mods/hardcoreplus/cfg/settings.ini
Default config file can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ew7ri5g7043dbcf/settings.ini

    Instalation
Copy anything from "to ProjectZomboid" to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\ (or where your steam is live?)
Copy anything from "to Mods" folder to C:/Users/%Your_User_Name%/Zomboid/mods/

    How to delete mod
You can just disable mod through "Mods" menu, but if you want fully disable Java part:
    Variant #1: delete hardcoreplus.locker located in C:/Users/%Your_User_Name%/Zomboid/mods/
Variant #2: download original PZ Java classes ->https://www.dropbox.com/s/wvzvzcfg5xwt1kz/originalPZ.zip  and copy to C :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\

Since MP is on the horizon, we're going to be pushing hunting RIGHT up the priority list (this will not involve me beyond the initial set up explained here, so no NPC hit guys ) since at present we reach the point where obtaining your own non looted food will become a requirement much quicker and just having farming alone may not make for as varied gameplay for fortress building once the shelves have run bare..

    SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

    LuaEntities!

A LuaEntity is another of the family of Player, Survivor, Zombie. But, as the name implies, its guts are lua driven not java driven.

Since we'll be writing the huntable animals in Lua and not Java, you'll be able to derive your own LuaEntity derived lua class and have your own update, postrender, state machine and all that jazz required to make a fully functional AI driven thing in the zomboid world, along with necessary knobs and buttons to allow you to transmit their states over the internet for MP. They will have pathfind states and other commonly required states, allow animation, 3D models or sprites, and all that goodness.

What will this mean? Who was it who wanted to do triffids? or daleks? or spitters/hunters/smokers or whatever else? Yup.

Hurrah! Hopefully this will open up a whole new dimension of zomboid modding, even total conversions, where zombies can be disabled and you really have the power to make substantially different game-play. I'm sure that these LuaEntities could be used in ways we wouldn't expect too, not being just limited to AI beings in principle.

Hi all,  I'm NuclearSharkhead. You can call me Sharkhead, or Sharky if you feel like being particularly endearing :3

I'm a game commentator and youtuber and I mainly display action games on my channel of nearly 9000 subscribers. I enjoy games like Blacklight Retribution, Planetside 2, Hawken, and currently Project Zomboid! I did not expect to be hooked by a game such as this, since I rarely play isometric games, but it is true, I have caught the PZ bug. Upon first sight I saw SO much potential in this project and I still do, and I would like to wish all the devs my very best.

    Teaching.

I've just been discussing the strength of learning from a book with Rathlord here: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/5187-survivalist-books/#entry69496

He mentioned teaching and that's a good idea. How about the ability for a player (or NPC) to teach another player. If you use starting a fire as an example.
Someone who has experience could show another person so that with plenty practice they could start a fire on their own.

I hope the focus is more on cooperative multiplayer than PvP. I'm kind of sick of 24/7 kill-on-sight survival , games where everyone shoots and asks questions later. I already play enough shooters to scratch that itch, and I would appreciate a multiplayer game with more thinking and humanity involved, at least as a viable option xD
