blindcoder got a reaction from Geras in Secondhand Loots - Randomize Condition and Fill level of loot!
That's a good idea.
It kinda depends on your setting, though. Some things break down with age and without being taken care of. OTOH if it's just barely into the apocalypse, things in stores should really be in better condition than things that have been in use or collecting dust in homes for noone knows how long.
I guess a good chance (say, between 25-33%) that things in stores are mint condition would be okay. I'll go and check how I'd go about that.

Just a notice:
Even though the latest version of PZ has item condition randomisation built-in now, it is very rudimentary.
The way this mod handles randomisation (and combination of partially-empty items) is a lot more sophisticated, taking into consideration:
- zombie density level
- perks (Lucky/Unlucky)
- item type minimum condition
So this mod is by no way obsolete. Just bumping my own topic

blindcoder got a reaction from Geras in Opening Bags on the Ground
You can equip two-handed melee weapons with one hand and have a bag on the other.
I think accessing inventory should definately have some draw-back like this. It's actually very fast to empty out a container onto the floor (much faster than transferring to another container) so your course of action should be:
- pick up container
- equip in hand
- dump contents on floor
- re-equip weapons
- put stuff in container on back
That works great for me.

The crops dry up, the seas empty and the riverbeds lay bare as mankind is doomed to fight and brawl over bottled water, pepsi, coke, 7up, doctor pepper - and every other softdrink available before the last survivor dies from diarrhoea and dehydration.

On a more serious note, the biggest problem with these might be resealing them. If you leave them unsealed, the water will contaminate.

blindcoder got a reaction from Svarog in Rebind Reload Key Mod
Hello all.
Just a heads-up for people not checking the workshop regularly, I have uploaded a mod that enables you to rebind the 'Reload' key.
It suffers obviously from a small flaw: The R key is by default bound to 'rotate building'. You should remap one of these to something else than 'R'.

Enjoy

blindcoder reacted to Aniketos in Workshop Operation Change Required Please
There is another plausible solution I've been considering for a while, but I haven't had the time get real serious about it, yet. I believe it's entirely manageable, though.
I understand that the PZ Steam server updates workshop mods while starting up, so a solution could be to check a server's workshop items for updates periodically and restart the server on changes.
This could be implemented using shell scripts (or a small application) that parses the server's configuration file and creates a list of Workshop IDs. Then at intervals, either by sleeping or a scheduled task/cron-job, it can test those IDs against the ISteamRemoteStorage/GetPublishedFileDetails method of the Steam Web API to retrieve the details for every relevant mod in a single request. For illustration, querying Hydrocraft's Workshop ID produces the following details:
"publishedfileid": "498441420","result": 1,"creator": "76561198030783658","creator_app_id": 108600,"consumer_app_id": 108600,"filename": "","file_size": 11927128,"file_url": "","hcontent_file": "8159595350093461476","preview_url": "http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/431570695393475814/131E2D763E58760CFCDF915DD2CD5FEA2C40AE24/","hcontent_preview": "431570695393475814","title": "Hydrocraft","description": "Hydrocraft is a mod based around crafting and filling in the empty world of zomboid with more stuff. It is inspired by survival crafting games like Haven and Hearth. It is very much a WIP and will be tweaked and added onto. Please try it out and let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions/ideas.\n\nFor more details go here ...\n\nhttp://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/11557-hydrocraft-mod/","time_created": 1439367179,"time_updated": 1443769385,"visibility": 0,"banned": 0,"ban_reason": "","subscriptions": 8690,"favorited": 233,"lifetime_subscriptions": 9039,"lifetime_favorited": 237,"views": 17349,"tags": [ { "tag": "Mod" }]The shell scripts/application would record the "time_updated" field, and when it differs from the previous record, send commands to the server console or RCON to warn users that the server's about to go down for an update, then shut it down safely and reboot it.
This method does require an API key, though - so as per the API ToS each server would either have to acquire it's own API key, or a Steam API proxy server could be created to host a map of Workshop IDs/update timestamps for everyone.
I'm hoping to start playing with the idea this coming week, if time allows.

blindcoder reacted to Dubpub in Full Project Zomboid Lua Reference Sheet
Hello PZ modding community! After a few days of digging through the source code I've successfully created a list of events that can be used when LUA scripting.
I will be updating this list after every major build. (32 -> 33).
Here is a link to the sheet. I'll be adding a full functions list as well soon. Also, gimme some advice on the style of that page. I'm a mere software developer, so keep it cool. As always, contact me here if you find something amiss or discover some new functionality or LUA event/function I'm not yet aware of! Also, I know it can be hard to understand, I'm working on fixing that and providing examples of implementation. If you have any questions at all, please leave a comment here or pm me and I'll help ya out.
I'll write a mobile site if it's in high demand, for now, consider it desktop only. Should support all known desktop and tablet resolutions though!
Edit: Don't want to use my site? Liberal? Here's a dropbox link for the excel sheet!
Thanks, happy modding!

blindcoder reacted to Themo in Farming Mod Art
@Hydromancerx
For the ones i do not draw pixel by pixel, first i start with a stock image of a dead bonsai tree (or a drawing i did much larger than the finished product).
Then i try to remove as much background as i can with the wand and eraser brush (pain in the butt). I then add a green filter to the image and paste my planter box image over to the side (it's tiny so i pointed at it with arrows).
Then i grab a stock image of some leaves.
And cut paste blobs of the leaves in the shape i want onto the bonsai image.
Then i zoom right in on my planter box and cut paste the tree into a box about twice the size, place it into the planter box and clean up the image. Sometimes adding highlights, shadows or fruit.
If after all that my image is in breach of some kind of copyright i would be shocked and outraged ^.^
Feel free to try this, you can make some really nice images when working with organic images like trees.
