Hey guys,

Those that have been around since the old forums may remember that i used to run a Map mod (RingoDs Mega Multi Cell Map Mod) that took all the awesome new buildings and map cells that had been created by you modders and amalgamated them into one "supermap" that was based around the original PZ map: post-66-0-82963500-1391447552_thumb.jpg

 

Well, with the release of the new mapping tools, i feel its time to get this back on track!

 

The plan:

 

1) Convert the whole of my previous map to work with the new version.

2) Start updating with all the new buildings/maps that have been created with the new map tools.

3) Update with more buildings/map cells if/when available.

 

This will inevitably lead to a "HUGE" map mod, which i intend to be added to the existing game world, never overwriting it, meaning it will always give you the biggest game world possible. As the official map increases in size/density i can easily move the modded portion to different areas if need be.

 

What YOU need to do (if you want to be invloved).

 

1) just keep making buildings and/or map cells like you have been, making sure room definitions etc have been used correctly (needed for proper loot spawning and for future NPC's to navigate properly). If you would like it to be part of the Mega Map Mod then make sure to tag it with the "Free For All", "Credit where its due" or even the "Ask for permission" Spiffo. Needs to be TBX format buildings.

 

2) If anyone would like to help me convert the buildings from my old map mod into versions that will work in the new system then drop me a PM. The more help i get with this will obviously help speed up the first release of this new map mod, allowing me then to concentrate on adding the new buildings etc people have been working hard on. It will just be a case of looking at one of the "old" buildings and remaking it in the new building editor.

 

Anyone/Everyone who contributes (or allows there work to be used in this mod) in any way will obviously be given full credit. I will also update this OP whenever someone has PM'ed me asking to help convert the old buildings so we can keep track of who is converting what building/area.

 

There are some good threads around to help teach people how to use the map tools and the building editor, if you havnt taken a look already but are eager to take part in this project then i suggest having a look at these threads first:

Damn blast from the past, I remember that map mod, I'm pretty sure I even had one of the copies. It was freaking amazing, can't wait to see more on this. :D

Hey Bob, yeah ive seen your original map mod, it looks awesome, i certainly wouldnt have any problems in using that in this mod. If you want to help me convert some more areas/buildings from this mod then just drop me a PM, i can send you the necessary files etc.

Hey Jela, cool stuff, im focusing on getting the whole "old" map mod converted first, but once that's done I will be scouring the forums for all the new buildings and maps made with the new mapping tools to expand this map mod even further.

The Road and Paths are now up to date in accordance to the old map mod. (pics in first post)

 

I will be adding more detail into the world such as patches of dirt/sand/water etc and also working on doing the Vegitation and Zombie Spawn Maps next.

 

We currently have Bobheckling and Japer working on converting the old buildings from the 2 most southerly cells, and Bobheckling has also already completed the "original Muldraugh" cell's buildings.

Once these are complete theres only 3 more cells to convert (all quite dense city centre-ish cells) along with the North highway and North West Farm.

 

Its all coming together nicely :-D

 

and again, if any of you guys would like to help out by helping us convert some of the old map mods buildings for this version then just PM me, once done i'll be looking at all the new maps/buildings and working on adding these to the map mod.

Nice, thanks you Ringo! im thinking on various buildings to do. Will post them once finished. Also, tell me if do you need any building to fill something or any building you want. Also, keep up the work and thanks you once again :)

Edit: I will still working for the buildings of the project chernarus. But also, everyone needs to rest a little. I mean, different project. Today a building for someone and tomorrow another for other project etc

Further progress made, Thanks to BobHecklings awesome work, the buildings for the "original Muldraugh" cell have been complete and added to the world. Just some World beautification (dirt paths, small lake etc) to place in that cell using TileZed before its fully complete.

If you need any large amounts of farmed land then I can help with that. Just designate the areas you want as fields with a new color and send it to me as a png. The current setting I like are outputting this:

DVabfDY.png?1

But I can configure it differently if you like.

It looks much better if you round corners btw.

well the cell layout as you see it now will always be the same, there's about 15 cells still left on this mod to be filled in once the old stuff has been complete. When all these 25 cells have been filled out then I will increase its size, but the actual layout will stay the same.

The map mod itself may shift around where it is located in the entire world (it will be placed alongside Muldraugh and West Point) if/when where I originally place it gets an official update with more "real world" buildings etc.

After a quick Google, I'd have to guess "Better Than Life", a book and episode of Red Dwarf

Ding Ding, its from the book, Its Listers favorite film (according to the book), and the virtual town in Better Than Life is named Bedford Falls after it.

Updated the OP with some more pics of new buildings and streets, 2 full cells almost finished (still needs world detail, street lights, road marking etc) with the majority of 2 more cells very close to having all buildings complete!

Lots of great work from Japer and BobHeckling already and Maklane has now jumped on board too! <3 <3
