given the length of some peoples names, adding something like this would expand their name to be 3 or 4 inches long on the screen, which may impact the ability to see a zombie or two hidden underneath the letters.... not to mention the stuff some "childish" people would choose to put in that space.

To put simply, I think it would be pretty cool to have an acoustic guitar or banjo where if equipped, you can use the numbers 1-6 to play each note. Can start in Standard tuning then add the feature to change the tuning. It would play a sound clip of that note when pressed. Chords can be held with 2 or more buttons.

Just a random thought. Add something to do while the night passes by. If a window is open, zombies might be able to hear the said instruments.

Hey people, long time player AND lurker, first time poster!
I've put more than 100 hours into PZ, and I've had plenty of ideas that I'd love to share a few mod ideas I've had.

Now, excluding big things like ability to learn how to fly and travel between maps, I'd rather focus on small things that would either just be fun, useful or plain logical.

    Blindfold
Could be attached to zombies or players by "attacking" them with it. Removes all vision, except for things that are like... literally touching you.

    Capture the Dead
Inspired by Day of the Dead, it would be really fun to be able to capture zombies. Not for any particular reason. It could be a few items that just makes zombies harmless. A muzzle that makes them unable to bite. Handcuffs that make them unable to scratch. A collar that you can attach a chain to, to keep them in your back yard. You could attach it by "attacking" them with the equipped item when they're on the ground.

    Notches
I'd love to be able to carve notches into walls, similar to the spray paint mod, but with sharp objects, and onto walls. Each notch "upgrades" the texture to a new one. Not a big deal, but would be kinda cool.

    Pots and Pans
By leaving mugs, cooking pots and bowls outside during rain, they fill up with water. Dirty water, perhaps, but water nonetheless. Could be useful for characters with low carpenting!

    Solitaire
My illiterate character needs some way to decrease boredom. We already have playing cards, why not have some fun with it?

    Wheelbarrow
    Basically a movable container.

    Winter is Coming
Not a big thing, but during winter and cold weather, zombies should be slower.

I'll probably update with more ideas further. Please feel free to comment or use it.

    Step 1. Open Steam
Step 2. Right click Project Zomboid in your library
Step 3. Go to Betas tab and type into the code box: hailkingspiffo
Step 4. Get the ok text below box, then use drop down menu above the code box to select the one that says "31.12" in it
Step 5. Re-open Steam to make sure the game updates to this version.
Step 6. Open game and join server.

I suggest baked-in commands below with the description and why they are needed. Most of these are for MP and various other reasons.

If any of these ideas are being implemented, ignore said suggestion.

    Should be admin-level commands.

/removecorpses = remove all corpses in the world, this is much needed if you have horde after horde of zombie corpses all throughout the map and city that needs to be cleaned up.

/removeblood = remove all blood in the world, this can free up the server resources and will help clean the walls and buildings and roads

    /muteplayer & /unmuteplayer = It's pretty obvious for this one here.

/summonplayers player1, player2, player3, etc. = this would be extremely useful for events. I'm an admin on Zeeks Haven and this would be of great use from events, bringing players near to debug something, bringing all players to the start (for future races?!) etc. it's pretty expansive. It would work as a list and summon 8-10 players per command to not get so crazy. So if you wanted 3 players you separate them with ".". /summonplayers play1, player2, player3 . If you wanted to just summon one, type just one name.

/rebootserver = reboot the server. This would clean the map of blood and corpses and spawn zombies. (As they already do now if you manually do it outside of the client for MP)

Player commands, unless it'll be displayed on-screen or the such.

/worldstatus = would explain the status of the server in terms of years passed, the current year, day, month, and time, the MOTD you get when you log in, and zombies alive and killed on the server. This can be a quick reference for players just jumping in and adds basic lore+gives info of the server itself.

It can also tell you if Muld is invaded by an influx of zombies or west point, just the main areas though so for now only WP, Muld, The Mall and Dixie.

    Different emotes:

    /cry, /laugh, /sit, /dance, /wavehand

I believe different short animations or icons should appear if the player types simple commands such as the ones listed above. Can start out with basic five, this would help RPers and add a bit more immersion and fun into the game I believe.

    Misc Suggestions but still important

The Terminal or console for Mac should open up just like it does for Windows users to.

It would be nice for a "Start Server" option to quickly start a server, setting the settings kind of like how Sandbox does with the options.

I also think if a player dies in Multiplayer, there should be a list that cross references that character that died so if they attempt reloading on said MP server, it would know that the player died recently and won't allow that save file to load, thus kicking them to the player creation screen. The list would be server-side. Or a much easier fix would make saves server side. The commands for taking someone off the list for bug reasons or just to allow them to reload could be "/removefromdeathlist player name".

RichCoconut reacted to Realmkeeper in What would happen if entire map loaded?
It's not an isometric 2D map though, it's partially in 3D now (models and such, not the map itself), and managing to integrate the 2D map with 3D models takes a lot more processing than you'd guess.
Even your Macbook Pro would not handle the whole map being loaded at once; Maybe a quarter of just Muldragh, but certainly not even a tenth of the entire map.

It's not the low-spec players holding this feature back, it's something that I'd imagine no-one on these forums has a PC that could manage it.

To note a couple of your game examples here, not all the 'strain' on your PC is caused by fancy graphics - modern graphics cards take care of that (they're essentially a PC inside your PC now).
Probably the biggest reason that PZ can't load more of the map, is the amount of processing needed for AI and pathfinding -precisely the reason BF4 doesn't have bots to fight against (like they did back in the days of BF2).

In my experience, it's far less computationally expensive to process logic and render something like a 16 player shooter in first person view, than a top-down strategy or isometric game with more than a handful of units.
Instead of comparing it to a whole different genre of game, you'd make a more reasonable comparison for PZ with something like Total War, C&C, or even Civ 5.

Hi everyone, i was wondering, has someone ever tried to adapt the old Project Zomboid map to the newer versions?

    I'm talking about this one:

    Spoiler
It might be really tiny and everything, but... You know, memories. I remember this map from the old, old, old demo ( I only could play the demo cause i was too much of a peasant to buy the actual game ) and i just wish i could play on it again, on a recent build.
So, does anybody knows where to find such thing?

I just got done reading that horrible post about how this game has been in alpha for so long. H o r r i b l e. This guy didn't even BUY the game and he was complaining. He also had no idea how long it takes to make a quality game. E.g. Warcraft 1 to 2 to 3 all had many years between them and over a decade between Starcraft and SCII. (This is not to mention all the other quality games that are not produced by Blizzard Entertainment)

I bought this game for $4.60 (I think)and it's kept me entertained through 4 years. I don't even play some games for 4 weeks. (I didn't even know I was playing it that long)

I paid about five bucks and got the first alpha release that I played for a long long time. It was worth it. Now I have a superawesomeneatamazing game that I can play for hours everyday.

All for $5. I'd pay $20-$30+ for it now.

Thank you developers. Thank you for helping my dreams of barracading a Wa*-M*rt (can I say that here?) and surviving for 3 months come true.
