It would be nice if we could draw pictures. Well select a picture to draw from a list etc. Then pin it up.
Not all the pictures would have to be dicks, Just most of them.

This is something that has occurred to me now and then on MP; I'm about to log out, but I wanna tell something to my safehouse friends about this house I found full of canned food and spiffo dolls. But how can I tell them if they're not here? Sure, I could grab a pen and a blank notebook and write it, but how will they even know the notebook is there, or even if there's something they should know on it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's ever dealt with such issue.

Then, I noticed all those ''Cork Boards'' you find on almost every office or industrial site on PZ that have no use beyond the cosmetic one and thought ''Why can't we use one of those to leave notes to our fellow survivors?''

You would just write what you need to tell on a notebook, rip out the page and pin it to the cork board with a tack, and then everyone who came later could read it. Maybe we could even tack a region map to it with places if interest marked on them, so everyone can see them.

Most of the in-game items for such a function are already created (The Cork boards, paper, pens and maps are all there. All we would need are the tacks, which would probably be lootable from every office or school), so it'd be just a matter of creating an interface of some sort for it.

I think those would be of great use on an MP setting, and even on an SP, as a sort of to-do list. Not to mention it's kinda realist.

I think the lack of distinction between characters makes this not matter. Honestly when you join a server you usually see a bunch of white males that look pretty much the same. Unless you zoom in very closely and try to study the subtlety of their body hair.
When you recognize a person in life, it takes a split second.
The name coverup seems like a great idea because the names give you that split second recognition, and if covered (like the robber/murderer wants) they're anonymous.

I suggested this some time ago.

I just like The Long Dark approach where if the place is competently dark you cant read.

Candles and flashlights along with batteries are competently useless right now, this would make them very useful, along with the night events where zombies will see light in the house and may be attracted to them.

Maybe the game could check if you have a flashlight with batteries before reading in the dark and automatically equip it and produce a small light aura, same goes with candles and strike matches/ lighters, you take out the micromanagement and it becomes a thing about resources (batteries, candles).

Also the character could say something along the lines of "Its too dark to read here" so new players understand that they need a light source.

Please add the option to disguise a players in game name, it really would open the game up to a lot of ski-mask robberies and twosidedness.

Anyways, more seriously I think overall we can agree that there must be improvements to it. What I suggest in the mean time is to make separate threads on your specific ideas on how to improve or add to the skill. I've seen a lot of the things I've suggested be integrated into the game (most recently fruit salad :D). I see a lot of good suggestions in the bottom of the thread here but I worry that since they're at the bottom they'll get overlooked. New threads! More suggestions! Go go go be creative!

I think you guys missed it, but metalcraft isn't in its final or near final form yet. They left a lot of things out that they intended to put in it. If you don't find the skill useful atm, I say give it a build or two and it'll catch up to standards.
Also if you're really interested in metal (rubber/glass/bunch of other making of things), I highly suggest the Hydrocraft mod. It's a ton of fun.*

*I don't normally play with mods or promote them, but this mod is worth it imo and adds a lot to the game after you've created your impenetrable farm castle and maxed your blade skill on single player.

Hey thanks for the info. Interesting about the clothing thing, I must have missed "You got red on you".

Also I the question about the textures looking off is in reference to the current state of the game where you can see through pants sometimes etc. I think the animation updates themselves will solve that problem since the models look to be changed.

Camouflage a hard no unfortunately and I think "reducing aggro radius" is still considered camouflaged. Blood footprints would be neat as crap, but may also lead to the eating of the memory. (I'm speaking of accessibility of the game to the public, not if they can actually do it) Hygiene is also a no. It says "(going to the bathroom, etc.)" and I assume the "etc." includes showering. Zombie variation is already gonna be in! Just watch the previews with the new animations! That's an interesting idea about the blood soaking into wounds. I think it would broaden the theory of what actually infects you from zombies, but also it may be game breaking. I mean you may have to change your shirt after killing just 1 zombie. One could argue that most blood would be congealed already, but then we'd lose that satisfying spray that we already love. And if it soaks through your clothes, I don't think a Bandaid would stop it, even if "treated". I think this one deserves a bit more critical thought of how to implement/balance, but is overall a very interesting idea. I think this may fall in the "special infected" category. I don't know though! They're not really super human, they have more disability than ability. Not sure if it's something they'd consider. Already answered. Not sure about the FAQ section, I think to get those questions answered you may want to post them in the general section or go to the Discord chat to ask.
The zombies are not saved. When you leave the area they're packed up in a memory box, and when you re-enter they release them back in the same general spot, but they have to be re-rendered. I think the sheer mass of zombies and the fact that not everyone owns a super computer is what hinders the developers from making this "save x zombie in x place, where x is a unique zombie" scenario. Though it would be cool. This is brought up too with migration and spawning. (One day we will have the power though o.o)

Demonic_Kat got a reaction from GoodOldLeon in Moving Doors and a Use for Screws
So I was laying in bed last night and a thought ran across my mind: "When putting a door together, you don't use nails to put the hinges on, you use screws."

I think by giving the door a "dismantle" option with a screwdriver in your inventory, you should be granted a door, two hinges, a door handle, and a few screws. All of these could also drop broken versions, planks and scrap metal, depending on how high your carpentry level is and how the D20 rolls.

This would give screws a use in building doors, give players a chance to use the type of door they wanted for aesthetic reasons, and also drop scrap metal for use in the metal crafting (currently in IWBUMS).

Just a random thought..... But I think if the world was ending we'd see at least one male zombie in a skirt. Someone out there had to have been trying on his wife's clothes when the apocalypse happened.

Also I think it would be funny to be able to dress up my male characters in skirts. (kilts?)

This is true too, you should still be able to hear sounds like that indicating emotion.

I've talked to some people who have experience with those who are deaf and not all deaf people can lip read.

Just like learning to speak, it's a skill that must be learned and perfected. Even those who can read lips often miss a lot in conversations.

Demonic_Kat got a reaction from grammarsalad in Depth to deaf trait
Hello again. I was thinking about how much I like to test the negative traits for usefulness and I came across a few things that may be improved in the sight/sound department.

I'll start with the deaf trait. While it may seem like a good trait to pick at the time with a +12 and the loss of sound I think the trait could use a bit more work.

    To modify:
-Better vision in either max range or better peripheral vision. Most of the time when we lose one sense we gain better perception in others.
-Inability to receive or send local chat
    -Taking this trait also opens:
-Sign Language (free): allows deaf players to communicate with each other
-Lip reading -1: can be taken to receive local chat when players facing others and are within X distance. Players outside this radius show a garbled chat if speaking.
-Speaking -1: can be taken to send local chat

    To add:
-Sign language books: Either one long read book (like skill books) or tiers of books that must be read in order
-If possible, for players who use a controller, a rumble when grabbed from behind
-for players without controllers a slight screen shake or light flash

I'd also like to say I enjoy the how hydrocraft uses hearing aids to remedy hard of hearing. It'd be nice for this to be added to the main game.
-Players must wear/keep in inventory just like in hydrocraft
-Players must replace batteries after so many days/hours (must find more hearing aids to remove batteries from)
-Brings "hard of hearing" to normal and "deaf" to hard of hearing.
-Doesn't remove the inability to send/receive local chat debuff if deaf.

Please let me know what you think!
