We're working on it, redone all the sound into fmod studio, so we have full control on them, way better sound attenuation, reverb and no more crack sound

I'm glad water dispensers don't magically refill anymore, but emptying them is the other extreme and makes moving them pointless. Will we be able to remove the top of water dispensers later, like propane tanks in BBQs?

You know, it's not like we're all going to die if we're not going to get the next build ASAP, I'm sure nobody would mind if you guys slept every once in a while. No need to work until you pass out.

Actually, I love the fact that they're willing to break down the updates into smaller bits. The popping was getting a bit irritating last night, so I'm looking forward to a fix. Now, I'm also looking forward to whatever new thing RJ has cooking, but 33.7 won't be too far off.

I would love it if we could remove the water bottles on top of the coolers and use those! Otherwise, what's the point of moving a water cooler if you just dump all the water out of it first?

EDIT: Holy crap you guys. If you can move a water cooler, gather bottles, move a comfy chair and move a minifridge all without carpentry or electrical skills... You can now live ANYWHERE without being a carpenter or an electrician! You can setup on the top floor of the office building! You don't need a bed!

    The possibilities are endless...

hahah exactly! Picking up water coolers has been one of my most important tasks the past could days, I've been out of water for awhile now . But i agree with ya it kinda kills the point of even grabbing them if it just dumps all the water out of them, however if we could find the 5 gallon bottles that go on top of them and refill them, now that would be amazing.

There's a whole ton of stuff to be added. They released it without Creative Mode and without some of the multi-tile furniture moving stuff. There's also a huge amount of bug bashing going on too. I don't think it's going to go Stable for a while.

f3rret reacted to Strider in Sheet ropes / free standing ladders / fastened ladders
It seems to me on higher difficulties there are two ways to go about your day.

    1. Put a sheet rope on a house and destroy the stairs
    2. Live in the woods.

    Sheet Ropes

TIS are evil. I'm evil (when it comes to thinking of ideas) and it occurred to me that sheet ropes are fantastic method to escape a house when it's on fire but they're certainly not a great thing to rely upon long term.

I mean think about it logically. You tie some bedsheets together or worse, jumpers or pants and you use that to scale two stories (or more!) to your house every day and down every morning. Now let's assume for a moment that you've been incredibly careful tying the knots and the cloth is good quality that still wouldn't account for weather and general wear and tear from use.

Example: Like I say, I'm a little bit evil. It would be fantastic to catch a new player out. A player who has spent weeks doing work on his safe-house but didn't have the presence of mind to put more than one sheet rope from his safe house. One day he starts scaling down his sheet rope and it detaches/breaks and the player sprains his ankle or worse a fracture or a break.
Worse of all, now the player has no method of getting back to their safe house so now they have a fractured leg and no safe house and they probably left most of what they consider important upstairs. I know I would.

The exception might be if you actually used a rope instead of a sheet rope but even then weather will play it's part. The rope will fray and eventually break depending on the amount of traffic it sees.
That isn't conjecture, the sheet rope/rope will break. It's a case of when, not if. The heavier the weather, the greater the extremes between hot and cold would both play a large part.

    Which brings me to...

    Free standing ladders

So the idea here is that you either find or construct a ladder. A found ladder would be unlikely to break but it would be a liability if zombies were about. It's not a stretch of the imagination to speculate that a zombie could knock this ladder over. This too would make for a very interesting game mechanic.

It's not unrealistic to imagine that a wooden ladder could be constructed. Again it's safety could be dependant upon the carpenter who built it. Build a ladder at level zero and it'll be a rickety piece of crap and more likely to kill you than help you but at level 10 it'll hold firm in an earthquake.

    Attached Ladders

There should be an option to attach the ladder to the wall. Applying the aforementioned about constructed ladders it would seem sensible to take a constructed ladder and then nail it to the wall so it's secure. I would imagine that would require some alteration so it's stands out from the wall a little otherwise your hands and feet would not be able to get purchase on the ladder.

I appreciate that ladders *must* have been discussed before so just remember I don't check to see what's been discussed because I feel that in the process of writing this I'm bound to have touched upon something someone else has missed.
And as ever, I'm just throwing around ideas. If you don't like the idea then hit me in the stomach please, not in the face. That's where the magic happens.

Note: For that picture I googled 'man falling from sheet rope' and that was the first image I found. I censored it just in case someone gets offended. I know, nobody ever gets offended on the internet but I thought I'd play it safe.

All the same, maybe those options shouldn't always exist.

Further, zombie respawn hours are already set to 72 hours and require a 16 hour period of that area being unseen.

What you're actually having difficulty with is the redistribution of zombies (every 12 hours).

Ok, released a 33.4 with hopefully fixes for sound...

Main menu is now playable with controller Hopefully fixed deaf trait Increased number of voice to 512 (report any OOM please ) Fixed zombie footsteps creating worldsounds (heard by other zombies). Don't un-pause newly-started sounds until after configuring volume/reverb/etc. Fixed some sounds (door + window rattles) not playing. Fixed sound priority (in FMOD, 0 = highest, 256 = lowest priority). Fixed looping world sounds playing forever, never freeing channels. Fixed player's square being checked for zombie's footstep sounds. Fixed some ambient sounds only getting added the first time a chunk was loaded. Fixed blank screen after MapSpawnSelect screen for some new game modes. Fixed "Survival" using "6 Months Later" zombie population options.

There's no such thing as a too hard hardest mode as long as there's less hard modes too.  Otherwise all its doing is cutting out all the people who have put hundreds or thousands of hours into the game and don't find it a challenge otherwise.

    OMG, loving the new update!

    Started a new game:
Looked around, all the window curtains were already closed (awesome!).  Picked up a radio ("hmm, never seen one of these before, what's it do?"), turned it on.  *Zombie crashes through window*.  Ran around like crazy trying to find a weapon.  Found a baseball bat (Hooray for sports that I dont play!).  Bashed in the head the zombie.   10/10, would turn on the radio again.

Wandered around a bit and found another house.  Went in, and looked around.  Empty, *phew*, started going through the stuff in the house like Link in a pottery store.  Went to the kitchen for food, ate a dozen donuts in one sitting.  Opened up a drawer, SCORE, the guy that lived here was some kind of electrical engineer or something!  Grabed a backpack and took all the timers, remotes, electrical scrap and sensors.  10/10, would be a kleptomaniac again.

Found another house ("What's this, boarded up? hmmm, oh well, I'll just go in").  I started to unbarricade the front door and at least 20 zombies leap out of the second floor window DIRECTLY ABOVE ME (I didn't have time to count, could have been more or less).  I push away a few as I try to scramble back in terror.  The house was apparently infested with them, and the barricades only seems to corral them in there after they took out whoever was in there.  It took me 20 minutes to thin out their numbers, and it seemed like they would never stop coming out of the house (or dropping down on me from above).   In the end, the house was pretty well stocked with food but the paydirt was the shotgun and 5 boxes of ammo (Poor guy, never got a chance to use it, the zeds got him while he was on the toilet....what a way to go).  15/10, would get ambused by 20 zombies falling on me from above again.

Hitting a move key should return time to normal. Still requires you to do something but it's faster than using the mouse or even a keyboard shortcut to set speed.

You're lucky it was just the one, for me it's usually whole damn 100+ zombie hordes o.O I hear one bang on a window, figure "bah i'm upstairs it'll be fine" but then as soon as the window breaks the whole first floor gets flooded and there's zombies waiting under the windows too
