It's not that I wouldn't agree with many things he points out. It's the toxic attitude ("incompetent devs" for example) without providing any useful argument what could be made better that bothers me. I started playing the game modded to mitigate some of the problems it clearly has at this point. At the same time posting here feature requests, suggestions, bug reports and take part in discussions to point devs in the direction I'd like to see the game going and, and that's the point, being friendly and respectful about it.

First I would like to get this out of the way. As a meat eater I think the whole conversation has moved into a slightly insulting way. I don't see a problem with a vegan and or vegetarian trait. Although, I also don't really think it's necessary. At the end of the day in crisis situations vegans and vegetarians do what they must to survive or they die. That's the simple fact of the matter.

In my opinion it would be a lot more logical just to use a pacifist trait that adds depression when killing animals. Maybe an animal lover trait that has a negative choice as well as a positive one both with their own individual effects. But at the end of the day the vegans and vegetarians that refuse to eat what they obtain will simply die. It takes forever to farm and unless they stole fruit and veggies but even then it would be contradictory to the whole concept behind vegetarianism/veganism.

At the end of the day it's up to the devs and we should really learn to respect each other and stop putting each other down. This is a perfect example of why some people *still* haven't learned that catastrophe's are only survived by mutual respect and agreement that it's better to work together than fight with each other.

It would be great if you were able to create 'family trees', say, via your saved characters index. Like, when creating a character, you could have the option of 'linking' that character to other created characters. The options might be: parent, child, sibling, friend.

BUT, there should be no guarantee that any given character is Alive at game start. And, if you encounter a zombified version of a friend or relative, your character should be affected by some serious long lasting and penalizing moodles (especially if they kill one of these 'familiar zombies').

Okay so this isn't me asking about survivors, just giving additional material for whenever they do release. And I know the devs will adore this idea.

So similar to the Rimworld idea where you can put in custom characters you want to see in game, except you can't really. You can just increase the chances of seeing certain NPCs. Well in this case you will build NPC's imagine kind of a backlog of characters you can play as so you can boot them up and play with them without remodeling them and all that, redoing the traits.
Now here's where it gets interesting. What if we pushed that one step further and say you're playing as Jim Jones, but you have Sally Davidson created as well and you want to see her in the game? Well you would have an option pop up and bam Sally Davidson is now nin your game. But lets take it even one step further again, what if you want her to be related to you or another NPC you put in the game? I feel like once NPC's are ready and fleshed out and all that good stuff to implement this. It would add a whole new dynamic to the game. Another layer if you will.

Side note: I know some of y'all will say this will make the game to easy and to that I say, not necessarily.  I mean you can abuse any feature. But if you want to balance your game, just create a balanced framework.

That will be all. Now time to sit back and be praised for what an amazing idea this is and how I make the all time best suggestions! Or ... You know get told it's a horrible idea and then go eat cake due to sadness. lol

MrZombifiedGamer reacted to EnigmaGrey in game lacks common sense realism
And because a lot of these critiques are based on assumptions that don't really pan out . . .  Common sense isn't really common if your base assumptions are wrong.

    Examples:

    A) the player-built door depicted in the game is not planed and jointed timber fitted into a single piece. It's more like a shed door, with cross-bracing (even if it's not really obvious as the doors don't have two sides), hence nails. Maybe I'm wrong in that, but given that the only things we have are planks and nails, hammers and saws, and the progression of the art pieces, I don't know why someone would think differently.

Nails can also, certainly, be used in place of screws (you see it all the time in older homes, as nails were once cheap and screws were not). What's not "common sense" about taking down/adding doors is that the recipe doesn't (or didn't at some point) include an option for nails, screws, or a mix of both.

    B) Given that all a frame is four pieces of wood and a couple of wedges, there's no great challenge to adding one to a wall (after all, the game doesn't go so far as to force you to do a cutout and a lintel).  It gives you something you can unlock at level 2 and have a sense of progression from 2 to 3 in an otherwise pretty empty list. It does that because it's a game with a levelling system (one that I've grown increasingly less fond of over the years, admittedly, but it's still the one we have right now.)

    C) you need a key to remove many parts from vehicles to prevent idiots trolling you; and because it makes sense that you'd actually need to be able to access the engine compartment to remove a battery (the UI is just a shorthand, game-designer attempt to try and extrapolate it while providing a common interface). It's not about 1:1 realism because it can't really be without being rather tedious (e. g. multiple UIs or hiding details conditionally to get a complete picture of a car vs. "open the Mechanic panel by doing an action on the hood.)

There's, generally, a reason things like this happen, even if you can't see it or agree with it. It doesn't mean it defies sense. Criticism and suggestions is otherwise welcome, but it doesn't need to framed this way.

MrZombifiedGamer reacted to Geras in Player built walls zombie resistance overhaul - "buffer HP"
(Not my idea, but I found it brilliant. It got lost somewhere on this forum, and never had a separate topic created.)

One of the users suggested a rather long time ago that player built walls should not be able to be destroyed by a single zombie. He or she suggested that walls should have "buffer HP".
Imagine, now even a single zombie can destroy a lvl 10 carpentry wall or lvl 10 metalworking wall given enough time to head-butt at it. With wall "buffer HP" that would change and make walls more realistic and more resilient to zombie damage."Buffer HP" would be an additional wall HP that regenerates quickly on top of existing wall HP.

How would it work in practice?

For example, a lvl 4 carpentry section of log wall would have enough "buffer HP" to withstand an attack of 5 zombies at a time (total amount of zombie damage from 5 zombies would not get past the regenerating "buffer HP"), but if another zombie comes and head-butts the same wall section, they get past "buffer HP" and destroy the wall in time normally, as it happens now.

My suggestion for the amount of "buffer HP" would be as follows:
(Numbers could be balanced, I don't even know if it's possible to fit 14 zombies on a tile of map)

Standard board wall + board window barricades + wooden doors (weakest of all walls):
(Add 1 zombie resistance if playing a Carpenter, Construction Worker or Engineer)

    - lvl 1-2 carpentry: 2 zombies needed to destroy a section (so 1 zombie will not be able to destroy a section)
    - lvl 3-4 carpentry: 3 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 5-6 carpentry: 4 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 7-8 carpentry: 5 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 9-10 carpentry: 6 zombies needed to destroy a section

    Log wall (strong defensive wall)
(Add 1 zombie resistance if playing a Carpenter, Lumberjack or Engineer)

    - lvl 1-2 carpentry: 4 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 3-4 carpentry: 5 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 5-6 carpentry: 6 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 7-8 carpentry: 7 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 9-10 carpentry: 8 zombies needed to destroy a section

Metal wall + sheet metal window barricades + metal doors (ultimate zombie defence) (can we make metal doors?)
(Add 1 zombie resistance if playing a Metalworker, Construction Worker or Engineer)

    - lvl 1-2 metalworking: 6 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 3-4 metalworking: 8 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 5-6 metalworking: 10 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 7-8 metalworking: 12 zombies needed to destroy a section
    - lvl 9-10 metalworking: 14 zombies needed to destroy a section

You can 'fill' in a grave at anypoint, so if you wanted, you could fill the grave after only one corpse has been put in it.
