Enoahe got a reaction from Pandorea in Pasting text in journals and notebooks
    Hi,

It is possible to paste a text of arbitrary length into a notebook or a journal ( https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Journal ). There are no scrolling controls/buttons, though.
Also, if pasted text is long enough (1000 words, 6743 bytes of lorem ipsum, for example), the game will hang. Nothing useful in the log, though.

    Thanks.

I am unable to build the Big Double Pole Gate (option is red) even though I have all the listed materials:

However I decided, oh well, I'll make a Double Fence Gate instead, and grabbed some Wire. Lo and behold, I can now build the BDPG:

Update: it doesn't actually use the wire, it just won't work without it!

Update2: OK I just realised it didn't use ANY of the ingredients to make the gate except the two hinges! That could be a bit of an exploit... only requires level 8 Metalworking

Enoahe reacted to arkonten in Crafting UI lacks global recipe search
I originally posted this and some additional ideas for improving the crafting UX on the (ignored?) Steam suggestions forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/108600/discussions/2/1743357605563279503/

tl;dr: It's hard to search for recipes, and in general to use the crafting UI to explore what is possible to craft, resulting in tons of immersion-breaking Alt+Tab to the wiki. We need a global recipe search. And ideally we should be able search among other things than just the recipe name, like components/tools, skills required, result (useful when recipe name and result differs) to be able to discover, in game, what is  possible to do.

Attached you find a patch that implements global recipe search by adding an All category; just select that category and use the filter to search among all recipes.

Attached you'll also find a bonus patch that binds / to focus the filter entry.

40.43. Apparently I've reproduced this bug. Kinda. It's happening when you use zoom (zoom in or out - doesn't matter). Sometimes. It doesn't matter if it's windy or not. It's just sideways on some zoom levels (and isn't on some other).

How many objects using power have you got in the building that is powered by the generator? Has this number increased? Generator will use more fuel to power more appliances so it seems)

He need to remove old, almost depleted torch from his inventory completely. OR refill it from tank.
For some reason game won't use a new torch if you have almost, but not completely depleted one in your inventory.

Hydrocraft is a mod based around crafting and filling in the empty world of zomboid with more stuff. It is inspired by survival crafting games like Haven and Hearth. It is very much a WIP and will be tweaked and added onto. Please try it out and let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions/ideas.

    2. Put bowl of uncooked soup into the microwave
    3. turn the microwave on
    3. Get an item out  of microwave  without explicitly turning microwave off.

At this point microwave turn itself off on a client. But not on server.

    4. Log out

    Expected result: microwave is off.
    Actual result: microwave is on.

Enoahe got a reaction from Maris in Name suffix multiplication on vehicle parts after editing
Every time you edit an item (for example, Car Battery Type Standard), the game will add status and/or type suffix to item's name (for example, after I change battery's 'used delta' it's name from 'Car Battery Type Standard' will change to 'Car Battery Type Standard Type Standard' and if I decide to edit in once again it'll add it's type to the name once more: 'Car Battery Type Standard Type Standard Type Standard'). it's purely cosmetic and doesn't really bother anyone, but still.

Ever wondered why your character just seems to be an emotionless zombie killing machine from the start?

Well, this is my suggestion: Your character has actual people/things he cares about after the apocalypse begins. This would give the player a "quest" on the start, such as checking in with your character's friends and family. If ignored, these can lead to depression and other symptoms.

    By example, these can be:
    - Leaving your house behind
    - Checking in on friends and family (Will be great once we have NPCs!), probably zombified
    - Going to your workplace (Brave police officers would go to the PD and help fight the chaos.)
    - Personal objects found in your home such as photos, rings and such, losing these will get you depressed.

Yup. But game probably should not allow to write if item is not in your inventory at all.

Enoahe reacted to Kaleidozombie in Can't enter car because of items on seats
You can press V to open the vehicle wheel menu. From there you can select the option to open the vehicle door. Once the door is open you can open your inventory windows and you'll be able to access the seat from there and remove any items that may be on the seat. Unless you are using this method you shouldn't be able to access the vehicle inventory and place items on the seats and in the glovebox unless you are sitting in the vehicle and on one of the seats thus preventing you from accessing that seat's inventory. If you have somehow managed to place items in the inventory of the seat you are sitting on then something is bugged.

This could be replaced with re-login on the server or restarting the game in single.

    How to reproduce:
    1. Join (any) dedicated server.
    2. Get a Sheet of Paper. It doesn't matter if there already is some text.
    3. Put Sheet of Paper in a bookcase OR put it on the ground. Not in your inventory.
    4. Write some text using a pencil.
    5. Go to another location (at least 300 tiles from this place I guess).
    6. Go back.
    7. Try read your text. It's disappeared! The Sheet of Paper is in the same state as it was on step 2.

P.S. I lost huge text that I wrote for my teammates.

    IWBUMS 40.41 released!

    [NEW]

    New zombie network transmission system.

Two circles with radiuses definable in server options:

ZombieUpdateRadiusHighPriority (default 25 tiles)  - zombies in this tile radius circle from a player will be transmitted to that player every frame, meaning their movement will be smooth and precise. ZombieUpdateMaxHighPrority (default 6) can be used to limit the amount of zombies in this circle (ordered by those closest to the player) that will receive these high frequency updates, so in the midst of the horde only the closest few will be precisely transmitted to clients (the most relevant zombies).
ZombieUpdateRadiusLowPriority  (default 45 tiles) - zombies in this tile radius circle will be updated to the player infrequently, enough to keep track of their approximate movement, but when low accuracy is needed since they are not close to a player. Uses the amount of seconds defined by ZombieUpdateDelta (default 0.5 seconds) to define how frequently the server will send these zombies. Lower ZombieUpdateDelta values will make them more precise at cost of server load and network traffic. Higher values result in less traffic but more obvious pausing, sliding and glitching.

Zombies outside the outer low priority radius will never be transmitted to the client, and will be invisible. Depending on the config and player's resolutions and zoom modes, this may cause zombies not to be visible at a distance with 4k res, or when right click scrolling the view, or when driving a car fast, but is potentially a sacrifice worth taking for a stable and performant server, and this effect can be reduced by expanding the outer radius to suit your own needs. We can look at adjusting the defaults further once we've seen what the server runners go with for their options, as it's hard for us to judge how far we could push it on a 60 player server, so our defaults start off relatively conservative.

Out of the box, with default settings, we expect the zombies to have a much lesser load on the server, especially with high player numbers. However players may notice some sluggishness of zombies at a distance, delays in changing direction due to sound, or sometimes small skips and teleports, though zombies close to a player that could risk their lives should not suffer this issue and so any zombie glitches and pauses should remain purely cosmetic. This can be tuned to your own preferences.

Depending on your expected server load, if you are running a coop server and want more zombie precision, you can increase the radiuses, ZombieUpdateMaxHighPrority zombies, and decrease the ZombieUpdateDelta. This will create more traffic and server CPU load, so is not advised for high population servers.
If you're running a high population server and are having issues with server performance, you can decrease these radiuses, decrease ZombieUpdateMaxHighPrority, or increase the ZombieUpdateDelta to reduce the amount of zombie network traffic and CPU load, which should reduce issues with black bordering and server stalls at the cost of zombie accuracy not close to a player.

    Hi,

Isn't 'safehouse' channel supposed to be heared only by your safehouse members only? As for now (40.36), it can be read by anybody who have it's own safehouse. If this is intended behavior, which is kinda weird, then what's this channel purpose?

If you place stairs like on the screenshot attached, when you reach the end of the lower staircase you'll be suddenly teleported on the upper part of the higher one. This is useful but probably should be fixed.
