Holstering weapons would be amazing, They would have to make sure none of the weapons clip with the new clothing though so that could take some time.
It would be so badass to see like a rifle or a fireaxe strapped to the side of a backpack

55 buildings, although some of those are variations of base buildings so it should probably be about 48 or so unique buildings and 7 or so variations
these are mostly suburban, some are generic american based while others are generic state / region based (West coast, east coast, midwest) and a few are based on local areas like the colorado highland ranch estates
I abandoned the original map project to work on my own game which will feature an USA map similar to the one I was planning for PZ, although being 2D and my own game I'll have way more freedom over the way houses / buildings look and I'll be able to detail all the landmarks which was hard to do with PZ.
I also have more freedom with clothing variety and with the brutal cinematic melee combat plus im a sucker for athmospheric environmental lightning and shading and I fucking love beautiful scenes with mesmerizing skies.
Ill probably make some more buildings every now and then, and If a modder feels up to it I can provide my original USA Map files including the PZ normal map (dont have a vegetation one though)

i know that feel haha
ill pm you the buildings if i can figure out how to

How's the map coming along?
I got bored with PZ so I'm working on my own zombie survival game which will be more like what I had planned for my map as I can do my own art and own buildings and such, if you want i can give you all my map files for gaia

Actually, you know know what? I don't blame them. I'm in an odd position as I'm going back to college to finish a degree I tried starting almost twenty years ago... but one of the irons I have in the fire is that I'm about to publish my first book, science fiction... and as an author I *completely* understand the desire to make sure what you put out is good. That's something a lot of the software industry doesn't seem to understand, considering the whole "We'll push crap and patch it later" paradigm used by folks like EA. Customers don't help either when they constantly clamor for a feature that isn't ready, so it isn't much of a surprise that a lot of games are utter crap before the first half dozen patches.
Its cool that way, it seemed like the devs just wanted to release it completely glitch free without a single tiniest pixel of a visible fault anywhere which would have been frustrating to see in an early access game ( as in, *early* access)

If I want a zombie game where the developers spend more time working on the visual aspects of the game rather than game play, then I'd just play 7 Days to Die instead.
What? 7 Days to Die is so visually disturbingly terribad that I quit playing and tried refunding (didnt succeed tho cause of over 2 hrs playtime)
7 days to die is literally more painful to look at than a pile of steaming poop, dont even get me started on these giant parka leather trench coat down jacket thingies that are completely skintight in shape but somehow 9 times as fat as the body under em
Literally minecraft looks better than 7dtd
Also if im correct theres specific people working on the anims, specific people working on the coding and other stuff etc so anims time shouldnt be slowing down other development time, its a great update that will make the game much more fun to play and look at for those that like visuals AND gameplay

its the littlest details that make the greatest games though

Im hyped to see if they have special kills for axes like the instant kills for kitchen knifes.
Hope well see the player jamming the axe into the dome and then kicking the zombie off that would be so badass the last of us style!
always disliked seeing the player swing a 3 pound axe into a half rotten skull like 19 times just to have the zombies stagger away a bit and grunt before simply falling over generically.
Also can't wait for the visible backpacks, blood and gore, the clothing, and the shit ton of new weapons

Might be by design. You shouldn't always be the first person to discover a stash and loot it.
to be fair if theres only ever a for example 20-50% chance of finding gear in these people will probably not even bother to look for the maps / loot stashes atleast i wouldnt

To all lil pussies that's screaming "they do it wrong, game never be released, they just promised etc."
Dont play this game till desired feature will be add. I didn't play since the animation be promised.
Some times ago I backed a Dead linger.
Those developers are real scumbags, they lied, they disappeared and do a lot disgusting things(maybe some of you backed this project like me)
Just give time to indie stone, they really deserve it, they make a best zombie survival game. Don't be scum, guys.
Oh, and I forgot-thank you devs:)
yeah i was excited for the dead linger and pretty disappointed when they ended and just disappeared like that but i guess thats the harsher side of early access backing
-
id like to throw in that personally i find multiplayer to be completely garbage, mainly due to pretty much every server using hydrocraft and other mods and due to admins aswell as a large chunk of players being ****** so please devs dont ever even think about focusing too much on mp and keep this a mainly singeplayer game
-
I also hope the running zombies get a more zombie like sprinting instead of the human one they currently have, like their arms should be less stiff and definitely move much less to make them look less human and their arms shouldnt bend as much

Marking the distances, but this project kinda reminds me to the Little States map from Pilotwings 64, maybe you can find some more inspiration with that clue
that map is so adorable and small i love it Ill totally take notes from it although my map is going to be way way bigger and requires bigger cities and cultural differences and all that so its gonna be much tougher
-
I wish there was a 'love' button I would abuse that on posts like these ^
Totally me though on the easier playthroughs XD
-
im mainly working on the suburban ones to get em done so I can start drawing up the city and small town outskirts and designs for the map and continue working on everything instead of just the buildings.
once i have a good feeling for the sizes of blocks and such Ill start work on the last of us' bills town high school and salt lake city hospital
-
update on buildings I made project isnt dead just a loooooot of work and I gotta finish every building before starting map work so i can plan the buildings in

Also just throwing this out here, for my project to get the 1000 pixel maps to 9000 pixel size while maintaining a cool smooth look I resized the original maps to 8x size and then indexed the colors to 2-4 colors, this way you wont have blur and instead get a smooth vector-like look with the pixels
Spoilerthe original michigan was about 8 times smaller than this and with some additional hand drawn smoothing it looks pretty good and game ready + fits enough space for the game.
Dont mean to promote or anything, just incase you see something that youd love to put into your map but its too small you can resize it using this technique and apply pz's color schemes into it.
I also used that technique to get a mountain like look on another maps terrainSpoiler -
10000x15000? Figure thats it since its that image size, if so mind telling me if you can work on it without major lag and freezing cause my maps like 9000x7000 and its almost impossible to do anything with it (i use gimp btw)
Other than that, did you draw the land yourself or did you use some kinda generator for landscapes cause it looks extremely awesome like jaw dropping, this map is gonna be something special great work! Also lumbo has a good idea you could make the north some kinda end game territory for those that make it all across the map to it, then make like 3 starting coastal towns for spawning
-
I feel like the devs and some members did a great job in the recent week(s) they released the build 36 2x tiles editor files along with an indepth official mapping guide from start to workshop uploading + im not a big fan of the random house generation in creative mod I feel like many maps could just feel the same

theres a similar mod for gta five too where your last selected 2 rifles would be holstered to the back and your last selected pistol strapped to your thigh, it just looks so badass.
i also remember a roblox game called apocalypse rising had a feature for a while where your special items would show up on your backpack, if you had a map for example it would stick out off a pocket and if you had a gps it was attached to the bottom, its all these little things and details that make everything look and feel so much more awesome
