It's possible, but 3d modding support is still very limited. When it's improved I'm going to be all over it.

This has probably already been suggested, but why aren't there some Clothing mods or weapon sprite retextures for weapon mods so that an AR isn't always a shotgun/rifle model? This'd be awesome.

    Hi everyone,

Me and my team-mate are working on a turn-based tactic game named Cold Contract.
We use same mechanisms like X-Com and Divinity Original Sin for the combat module.

Each time the player begins a new game, all components of the game are linked to a procedurally generated world.
The goal of the game is to control a regional map by hiring several mercenaries organised in squads.
The player moves in real-time on the regional map and fights the enemies on isometric maps with the turn-based system when hostiles are detected.
Mercenaries can be improve with several perks and equipments. Their skills are improved with experience points.
A HQ helps to gain more options along the game to defeat enemies.

    Our short trailer:
    http://youtu.be/Gd9JEgdd8jY

We have a demo of our combat module where you lead a small squad of mercenaries:

We are currently on Steam Greenlight so if you like what you see, your vote is welcome!

Hi everyone, we want you to take a look at our Tactical Strategy RPG Survival game. Hopefully you'll like what you see and contribute to our Kickstarter campaign and/or vote for us on greenlight!

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/376160080/outbreak-new-day

Outbreak: New Day is based in the present day. In a city overrun by zombies, your only hope is to establish a base and clear out the infestation. Search for weapons, food, and building materials. With the help of other survivors that join you, create a variety of items to aid in your fight to retake the city. Taking back control of the city will require you to send out patrols, clear strategic points, and keep enough food and protection for all those working with you to make it through. The zombies outnumber you by far, and while slow, they generally come in large packs. The danger doesn't stop with zombies. Other groups are also doing their best to get by, and not everybody wants to work together. Find the source of the outbreak, secure the city, and protect your people. It won't be easy.

Establish a base, and then repair structures and utilities to provide basic necessities.

            • Garage - Allows the construction, modification, and storage of vehicles.
            • Greenhouse - Produces food and herbs.
            • Medical Bay - Increases healing done by medical professionals in the base.
            • Armory - Increases success for crafting weapons, armor, and weapon accessories.

Recruit allies with skills that will meet the needs of facilities in the base.

    Strengthen your base's defenses.

            • Obstacles - Slows down zombies.
            • Traps - Damages or holds zombies back.
            • Guard Posts - Provides a defensive position that you can safely fire from.

    Combat

Outbreak: New Day uses a tactical point system. Allies, zombies, and enemies all have tactical points to spend on movement, actions, and defense. While movement has a standard tactical point usage, actions use varying amounts of tactical points. Learning when to move, act, or hold your tactical points for later rounds will make the difference between victory or death.

Sight and sound play a large role in both exploration and combat so using them to your advantage is key.

Knives, axes, and baseball bats are your main melee weapons. Melee weapons produce little sound and have a low risk of drawing extra attention. Guns offer the highest damage output and allow you to attack at the safest range. But, guns are loud, so you run the risk of attracting attention when you fire them without suppression attachments. In addition, ammo is scarce and can be used up quickly.

You can also use positioning to your advantage. Corral zombies down a narrow path so that you can take them on a few at a time. Or, lure the zombies behind some survivors who happen to have the guns you want.

Combat isn't your only option when it comes to survival and exploration. With the right timing, and keeping your distance, you can bypass zombies and other enemies. Silence and shadows can also be used to your advantage in small groups. Your group can be as large as 8 people, but the amount of sound your party makes and your chance to be seen increases with the number of allies you bring with you. Sound and chance to be seen is also affected by your allies' skills.

You choose how to navigate the city, go in guns a blazing, sneak behind a group of survivors, or lead a group of zombies right on top of those survivors. Just make sure that you know what you're getting into and consider what might be lurking around a corner that you can't see.

Find people trained in skills to assist your party while out exploring.

             • Firearms Training - Increases accuracy with guns.
             • Hand to Hand - Increases accuracy and damage with melee weapons.
             • Medicine - Increases healing with items and health regeneration when traveling.
             • Sharpshooter - Increases chance to hit specific targets with a sniper rifle.
             • Scavenging - Finds more items when looting containers and enemies.
             • Locksmith - Can pick door and safe locks. Can place locks to secure buildings.
             • Tactics - Increases a variety of stats for the party.

Using skills will increase your proficiency.

For skills that you don't have, you can train your allies using experts in the group or with books that you have found. Having a teacher in the base or access to a library gives a bonus when training.

Search for and find supplies as needed.

You can find general supplies and other household items in random houses. Some supplies can be found more reliably at a specific location. For example, if you are running low on medicine, you would seek out a pharmacy. Talk to other survivors, search the city records, and trade for information to reveal the locations of the supplies you need.

              • Pharmacy - Healing items and supplies
              • Deli - Cooking ingredients
              • Fabric Store - Crafting materials
              • Gas Station - Gasoline and snacks
              • Military Surplus - Weapons and armor

Find, trade, and craft weapons, armor, and defenses to equip your allies and defend your base.

              • Perimeter Alarm - String and Tin Cans
              • Barriers - Wood and Metal Scraps
              • Pipe Bomb - Pipe and Black Powder
              • Spiked Bat - Polished Long Wood Handle and Nail Spikes
              • Desert Eagle - Gun parts
              • Combat Vest - Leather Jacket and Heavy Fabric

Craft supplies that you can’t find.

Use various foods to make rations to feed your allies. Butcher a side of pork into salted pork pieces and make sausages from the pieces. Cook dried beans in a sauce to make baked beans. Then, cook the baked beans with the sausage that you just made to make rations for your allies.

The more steps and the more complex the craft, the more effective the weapon or defense that you create will be, and the more rations your recipes will produce. Allies with skills that relate to what you are crafting have a better chance of success with the craft.

    Districts

Secure districts in the city to take advantage of the specialized resources found within them. Outfit patrols and increase the district's defenses with the goal of keeping it clear of zombies. Some resources can only be obtained by having control of a certain district and some districts will increase the availability of supplies by a large amount.

Search for information, NPCs, and looters at dozens of locations throughout the city. Find other survivors to trade with. Some are willing to trade, some may need convincing through interrogation or intimidation, and some might trade from the ground while you stand over their unconscious body with a baseball bat.

It's more efficient and safer to drive than to walk. Finding vehicles and car parts may be difficult, but using a vehicle will reduce your travel time and protect you on the way to your destination.

    Quests

A variety of quests lead you down the path to clearing the city of zombies. A multitude of side quests will help you supply your allies. Radio messages can give you information about survivors and supply locations. Leaders of other groups may want you to obtain certain items for them. Other survivors may not trade with you unless you complete their request. Even saving a cat from a tree could result in an unexpected surprise.

    Survive

Feed your allies, supply them with gear, and train up their skills or they may lose their spirits, be less effective, or even die of starvation. Everything that happens, both good and bad, will affect the mood and capability of your allies.

To put simply, I think it would be pretty cool to have an acoustic guitar or banjo where if equipped, you can use the numbers 1-6 to play each note. Can start in Standard tuning then add the feature to change the tuning. It would play a sound clip of that note when pressed. Chords can be held with 2 or more buttons.

Just a random thought. Add something to do while the night passes by. If a window is open, zombies might be able to hear the said instruments.

Please Note: This is not too be confused with bringing back the wheelie bins from previous versions, this suggestion is about having it so we can possibly make a wheelburrow ourselves with the carpentry skill.

It is that time of the year now (at least where I live) where you start to put your snow stuff away and start bringing out the lawn mowers, etc. I was kind of thinking what we do not have yet is like a wheelburrow that can be useful for moving wooden logs around and I think that wheelburrows don't seem to be that complicated so I think we should be able to craft our own.

I think to make it so it is not too overpowered and easy to get they should make it so that it requires a high carpentry level to make, here is how the recipe should be like below:

    1x Small Wheel
    16x Planks
    32x Nails or Screws
    1x Hammer/Screwdriver

Here is a real-life image of how it would look if you would have made it yourself.

Updated for Build 26 (SP & MP).

How to install.Single player : as with any mod, put the waterPipe directory inside the mod folder of project zomboid and check "garden hoses" in the in game mod menu. When joining a server, desactivate the mod.

Multiplayer (on both server and client computers) : The easiest way to install it is to place the media folder of the mod inside the project zomboid installation directory, saying yes to overwriting 2 files.
    - overwriting 2 files (rain barrels and takewater action).
    - I didn't find any other way to activate a mod, I may be missing something.
    - Obviously, don't activate the mod in game anymore.
    - To revert back, delete the mod files (or do a steam check integrity)

What it does for farming.Plants with a pipe on the same square connected to a barrel will receive 1 water every 2 in game hours. You don't have to check them every day anymore, as long as you have water. Otherwise, refill your barrels.
    - It’s the same amount the plant lose every 2 in game hours, but not accounting for sunny days ( an additional - 0.1 water every 2 hours ). It may be necessary to check some plants after a lot of sunny days.

Which means you HAVE TO water your plants the first time you plow, otherwise they’ll stay at level 0.

If you don’t have enough water in your barrels for all plants within a cluster, only some will receive water ( always the same ones, so all may not die ).

Plants will receive fertilizer if there are enough for all of them within the cluster ( both water and fertilizer ).
    - You can take your time pouring the fertilizer without fearing the trigger.
    - If you have 10 plants and want to fertilize all of them to level 3, add 30 fertilizer doses in total to the barrels of the cluster. They will be fertilized in 3*2 in game hours, unit by unit.

During winter (october - january) plants will lose health if they are outdoor.

What is does for rain barrel collectors.Barrel water level is averaged with all barrels within a cluster.
    - You will have the optimal refill when raining at all times.
    - Don’t connect a 40 unit barrel with a 100 unit one, you will lose all water above 40.

Barrels are filled when connected to a piped source (sink and such). It’s a good idea to have one big cluster when water is still on.

You can pour in / take water.
    - Water taken is proportional to item number of uses to fill. Water poured is proportional to item number of uses (with water).
    - Amounts of water taken/poured back/transferred are coherent among all items.
    - When taking water, you can interrupt the action, amounts will be coherent.
    - When pouring, as I didn’t implement it over time, if you interrupt it nothing happens; you have to see it through.

    You can pour in fertilizer.

Please report any bug you encounter, but read the description before.

Balance suggestions are welcomed too. Note :
When picking pipes up, you need to pick up 10 to get a garden hose back. It's to avoid having plenty of garden hoses with 0.1 uses or less. It's kind of anoying when you need all of them and misplaced one, as you need to pick up 9 more ... will see if I can change that.

RichCoconut reacted to Gordonfleaman in Television and Radio Frequencies
    Hi, zomboiders!
    A Ham Radio operator here.

For a long time, I've taken to letting go of small things like in video games seeing radio broadcasts and amateur radio broadcasts and such broadcasts taking place on the wrong frequency. Mostly because of the "It's just a game" excuses I've been given. Let's take a look at the tapes, shall we?

    EXHIBIT 1: The Screecher
An amazing game. As you can see here though, the emergency broadcast frequency is operating at sixteen fourty decimal four KHz, on AM. This particular frequency is part of the AM broadcasting band medium wave in ITU region 2. Therefore in America - the setting for The Screecher - broadcasting on this frequency for emergency use is not illegal, (you can almost get away with broadcasting on anything if you're in an emergency) however this action wouldn't be approved by the FCC.

In laymans terms, you can listen to this particular frequency in your car if you wanted..

    EXHIBIT 2: Dayz
Dayz features a walkie talkie that broadcasts on 'car radio' bands shown in this picture!
Walkie talkies like these ones in the game broadcast on UHF bands.
462.562 MHz & 462.587 are examples of Channel 1 and 2 on your typical bubble pack radios. Not 87.8 MHz or 102.5 MHz! Those are in my car!
I noticed the PZ mod Apcom talkie mod did this as well, but I'll let him escape my wrath as he did create one of my favorite mods in the world.

    My final point:
Reading this mondoid, I noticed something.

Look! you're operating television sets on the same radio frequencies you'd use on a desk radio or in your car! I believe that this should be addressed, as one day, my favourite game developers are going to get a kick in the pants by some other bothered person!
I believe this is simply a mistake, and I wish to be corrected, just as I wish to correct if I see something that can be more accurate!

You see, Ham Radio and television work on a certain FCC-allocated band, just as the radio in your car does. Keep in mind I am using FCC allocations because the game is set in the united states, in kentucky, where these rules do apply.

Television radio bands are in the VHF spectrum - usually the wal-mart radios (as I like to call them, although really they are GMRS and FRS operation radios) would not be able to operate on these same frequencies, as none of their frequencies are in the band. in fact, they are in the UHF spectrum.
I'm trying to open the eyes of the developers of these things.
I am aware that these features are work in progress. However It's better that I tell you this now rather than let it go so far as to confuse somebody later on, such as in DayZ.
I appreciate your reading and I apologize for my hastily written and bad english here.
    Thank you!

I suggest adding a [Advanced] checkbox somewhere in sandbox menus. If checked it would allow setting certain things not by presets (High, Very High etc.) but by numbers ex. Very High spawn rate is 4.0, such option would allow a player to set it to anything they want like 10,0 or 0.

It would be a very nice addition to the game for those who want to customize their game to the max without hackish mods.

RichCoconut reacted to MaxMikester in Traps against zombies
The traps in the game so far are great for a food source, but I believe that there should be traps/structures that can slow down and/or damage the undead. Using traps on zombies would be useful both defensively and offensively. I have a few examples that could be viable:

Bear Trap: Can be scavenged in the world and placed down (like a mouse trap). It can be used to hunt some animals, but can also stop a zombie completely for a short period should a zombie happen to be walking into it. Once a zombie is trapped it can be killed a bit more easily, or if you use a few near hordes, can lower the number of zombies chasing you, so you can fight them or run away with more ease.

Spike Fences: These are like wood fences, but with wooden spikes pointing upward. Climbing this has a chance to injure you from a scratch to a deep wound (like a barbed wire). Should a zombie happen to climb this, they will take some damage, get slowed down slightly, and have a chance to do the following: become crippled and forced to crawl around (become a crawler), or they will end up dead from tripping and/or getting stabbed by the spikes (killed but would be an extremely low chance). Can be made by adding wooden spears to wooden or simple wire fences.

PvP wise I don' want it to be used for this purpose because I feel it would end up with a lot of trolls on multiplayer.

In 1990, the air forces of G.M.W. gang arrived in some countries to seize the most popular cities. As per the official report, they plotted an ideal plan of murdering the people by utilizing their air forces. With an aim of ceasing and arresting the convicts, the Commander of H.A.W.K. Army sent special fighter plane to protect the countries and islands from destruction.
There is no doubt that the enemies want to seize some islands to build their own secret base. In order to stop all these activities, G.M.W fighter planes must be destroyed at any cost, otherwise the situation will be beyond our CONTROL!
