nies006 got a reaction from Geras in IWBUMS Nutrition Feedback - Official Thread
I tried the nutrition option several times. In my last game I spent 90% of my time looking for food and cooking and still had my weight  decreasing a lot everyday (the menu was vegetables salads, berries and grilled fish several times a day). I would say it was a bit boring and I will disable the nutrition on the next times unless there are a bit less constraints in future

Well, in that case why do we need health moodles, for example? We have health screen to check for damage, bleeding, and wounds.

IMO it would be a better idea to scrap that "Hunger" values completely and leave just the calories. Cap calorie intake at 3000 or 2500, make PC "very well fed" on 2000, "well fed" on 1500 or something, "fed" on 1000, etc. etc. Why overcomplicate that system with a value that represents "physical" satiation?

After 2 games with 2 months survival in good conditions in Muldraught and in west point I can say that I like the zombie population as it is.

However: some areas see huge hordes, some other areas are completely empty
Example: I went to Muldraugh police station and unluckily I triggered the alarm: not a single zombie came ! the entire highway was empty whereas there were neighborhoods with 1000 zombies packed.
So it really needs some balancing between areas.

I tried the sandbox following devs advice !

    - First try, west point, low number of Z, loot: normal, the rest without change: i ran though the entire city and saw less than 30 zombies. It is almost a bug no ?

    - Since there was no interest, Second try: west point, normal number of Z, food rare, the rest normal, start pack, no change to Z settings.
I spawned in a small white house north of the city center. No horde outside the house but Z a bit everywhere. I was not feeling safe so i went to the river, and to the west till i reached the boat house on the river. I settled in one of the nearest 2 floors house next to it.

A few Z quickly killed, no problem to loot 5 or 6 houses around, but some directions were blocked by groups of Z.
Anyway I had food, water, most of books, a few tools, a bat, but didnt find any recipe book yet.

I continued visiting houses, and got one with a an alarm. I ran back to my safehouse and the following day i went to see if any Z were attracted. A few... maybe lets say... 500 ?

I went straight back to home, made a stone axe, cut trees and barricaded the windows.

then i tried to go to the school near my safehouse, which was left by the hordes attracted by the alarm, and found it all empty, when suddenly i saw a horde by the window. Thek broke through, I escaped by another window in emergency, right in the middle of a 200 zombies horde... panic on board, I escaped them by running to find even more of them coming from everywhere !

After a big Run to my safehouse, which is just one street away,I crafted a campfire, went back next to the school where Z splitted into several smaller groups, started the fire and attracted the zombies with the cure (Q) . So far i managed to burn 100 of them, 2 houses and a forest. And Im not done yet !

Next step: go looting a bit more, and start another fire if needed to progress on the map. Now several weeks and not ready to be dead yet !

For sure, I had to change my way of playing the game, much more sneaking, i now look by the windows before going out and begin to be paranoiac... plus Z behaviour is much better/difficult : these are good points.

Only regret: burnt zombies are not counted in kills !

nies006 reacted to ToastedFishSandwich in Collapse Nearby Corpses' Inventories
A nice fellow on the Project Zomboid subreddit suggested this and I haven't seen it around here or on the common suggestions thread.

The idea is pretty much summed up in the title but searching through the remnants of one's massacres is extremely annoying and time consuming since it's difficult to tell which corpses have been searched and where each one is located (both in the world and on the inventory UI). I know for a fact that I've spent a lot of time going over the same corpses, even when there're only four or five together, just to make sure that I haven't missed an axe or some other valuable item. The suggestion is simply to collapse all of the corpses around the player (maybe a 3x3 square like the area around which carpentry materials can be located) into a single container. This would allow the player to search through the piles more quickly and ensure they're locating all of the loot. It need only take effect when four or more corpses are in the player's immediate vicinity. If this sounds too overpowered then perhaps there could be a context action along the lines of 'Search Corpses' which takes a little bit of game time.

I agree, though I have yet to play seeing the video above is pretty ridiculous. It should be low enough to start and a bit smarter being able to tell when you've made a decent safehouse with good fortifications because then those numbers are a little more forgiving. Definitely would rather if it was lower at the start and moved up giving you at least a week (or, if you build a pretty good defense, then pile up the numbers) Otherwise I think I'll be asking for a mod because, this does seem a little outrageous. My opinion might change when I play though so we'll see. At least giving players a chance to do stuff first would be fairer if those numbers did come in after a few days or so. Obviously if someone's running and gunning that's their fault but it still definitely needs tweaking.

I agree with the metagame too, when NPCs are introduced all I can see happening is never having a chance to talk to them because zombies are around every corner.

I eagerly await someone angrily replying due to the fact I've given my opinion in trying to help this game be better than it is.

I have to say that, in theory, I'm liking the new numbers. But they feel a little too punishing early game. As in, invading your safehouse when you have not made a noise, have curtains up and all lights out. Reading a book then sleeping should not be making a noise.

Could the new respawn system not up the count as time goes on? Starting with a few less then using days in game passed to increment the respawn multiplier perhaps? And please note, I'm not talking about starting with build 31 numbers, but perhaps less than 8-15 Z's outside every single building in the game which is roughly how it feels now.  A chance to get some supplies, to build some defences at least, would be preferable.

Because at present it seems that any move made towards survival ends in death. I'm not complaining about building up hordes if something turns noisy, that's (partly) my own fault, but so many Z's that you can't get out of your starting house which did not provide anything useful to your future survival beyond a tissue, some bleach and a cup, seems a bit harsh.

When they then overwhelm your house on night one due to the metagame noises, well that doesn't feel like the game is offering any survival options at all. Don't get me wrong, I only ever play survival, I enjoy challenging, I enjoy difficult, I like the direction the changes have taken, but they seem to be a bit unbalanced at this point. I haven't had chance to try out any of the bombs, traps or other new features because I'm dead, often before day two, and I play the 'safest' approach to this game I can, I don't fight zombies unless I have to, I sneak, I walk away if a building won't open, unless I've first lured away any Z's that might hear me.

Please don't think this is a complaint, but I wanted to try to put a reasoned argument against the full extent of the new numbers because the people who love the new numbers are very vocal and the people who dislike them appear to be very frustrated.

Killing us before late game is awesome ! But killing us in early game is slightly exaggerated in my opinion: it would mean all the work the devs did on middle game (farming, fishing, advanced carpentry) is now useless, and contradictory.

K, so testing this on regular loot settings (with Lucky!) to see how hard it is to find basic stuff after looting well over a dozen sheds......

Zero Gas Cans. I don't even expect to always find full ones, but NO empty ones even? This definitely needs some tweaking, how are we suppose to get gas if we can't even find cans?

Zero Generator Manuals. Guess the owners packed them all off, but left all the generators behind. I found a silly amount of generators, and about 2, maybe 3 electronics magazines. The Generator Manual probably needs its own loot roll, as it doesn't make sense to find none at all.

Charcoal, and to a lesser extent, propane tanks, were found in the sheds in a reasonable amount.

    So in summary.........

Please raise the amount of Gas Cans found. They don't even need to be full, but there's not much of a point to make a trek to the gas station if you don't have any containers to fill.

Raise the amount of Generator Manuals. Doesn't make sense to find so many generators and ZERO manuals. I suspect it sharing a generic loot pool with all electronic magazines is causing the problem.

    Hi

I think that being able to right click on a corpse to drag it is awesome, but in order to put it back down on the ground, we have to go into the inventory and select the corpse. After moving a pile of 30 zombies this gets to be... pretty tedious.  I think it would be more user friendly if we could right click where we want to "drop corpse"  to empty it out of our inventory as well.

    Thank you

SInce 32.0 is about new items, maybe adding a cigarette pack would be great.
And we could open it, when needed, like seeds or ammo box.
