    Yeah.. about them NPC's... It's like being 10 years old and waiting for Christmas gifts. Take your time though, I want them as good as you can make them!
    I'm also curious about what game you talking about..

    As long as you keep it realistic and not "minecrafty" this could be awesome. Welding sounds great.
    I'm also happy you decided not to use ingots in the game.
    Now im just hoping you'll add railway engineer profession. Could be a mixture of construction worker and metalworking and maybe a little bit of electrician.  + I could make a character based on myself

    I think the reason they wanna kill you before the late-game because they want it to be an overwhelmingly difficult and insurmountable game, not because they're ashamed of it being bad for however long.

    I'm all for nerfing farming to make long term survival a little more difficult but I cross the line at needing to read an instruction manual before you can put seeds in the ground.

    I just saw Cthonic's update that he can't play anytime soon. Someone else can jump in and play.

    Perhaps we set a time limit on how long one has to play before someone else can jump in? Like 3 or 4 days? 24 hours? One week?

    Alternatively, we could just start spawning Multiverses. If several people play the same save at the same time, we would have different save game time lines going. That could get really fun and crazy. I love time travel and multiverses so I vote let's just get crazy and get as many people playing saves as possible.

    Personally I don't think the devs will implement this in the game, since they're going for classical zombies (which I'm happy about).
    But, it would be cool with a mod altering the things you mention, or adds more options to change in sandbox play.

    robban279 reacted to Jabberi in Idea for reorganizing expectation of difficulty in the game. Thoughts?
    Just giving my thoughs on this subject, naming and organizing gamemodes and difficulties.

    I think the most obvious organization is such that there are ( will be ) basically 3 game modes: SANDBOX, STORY MODE and LAST STAND

    Choosing Sandbox ( And maybe story mode too? I can't tell what your are planning for it ) will then prompt the player to choose difficulty, which could be one of these: BEGINNER - "For those that are new to Project Zomboid" EXPERIENCED - "For those that are seeking more challenge" CUSTOM - "Fully customized playing experience"

    Didn't really think about those difficulty descriptions, but I think that above organization is very clear and easy to understand. Imo, putting CUSTOM ( or SANDBOX ) as the "normal" difficulty doesn't make sense, because almost no game does that and many players will choose the middle difficulty by default when they play the game first time and will get confused by all the parameters that they don't yet know the meaning of.

    I think you'll figure out some good way to do this, like with every other thing

    robban279 reacted to deprav in Starvation & nutrition, long term effects.
    Just had an idea to bring the nutrition/hunger system one step closer from realism, as it would make it a "long-term" thing instead of the actual instant bonus/penalty.

    Right now it's like an invisible bar running down as time passes, and you fill it by eating stuff ; your "hungry" moodlet depends on your position on that bar, means if you're close to death and eat a huge meal you'll suddenly be all pumped up and fresh again.

    What about making it an average of the last X days (lets say 7 for the exemple) ? Lets say you have to eat 60 hunger points (arbitrary value, should probably be a bit less) each day, it's like the basis on which all the bonuses and penalties will be calculated.
    Then maths :

    If you eat 60 points each day for 7 days, you're at "100%", no penalty, no bonus, you're healthy.
    the day after, you have a food shortage, you only eat for 5 points.
    So that's 60*6+5= 365     ;          365/7 = 52.14       ;   52*(100/60) = 86.6
    >You're at 86% of the ideal average nutrition level.

    You only find a bag of chips to eat for the whole next day, that's 15 points.
    60*5+5+15=320               ;          320/7 = 45.7         ;   45*(100/60) = 75
    >You're at 75% of the ideal average nutrition level.
    etc...

    Every time you pass under a 10% stage (90%, 80%, 70% etc...) your penalty gets worst.
    exemples :
    under 90%, exerted faster
    under 80%, exerted faster, strenght penalty
    under 70%, exerted faster+, strenght penalty
    under 60%, exerted faster+, strenght penalty+
    under 50%, exerted faster++, strenght penalty++
    under 40%, exerted faster+++, strenght penalty++
    under 30% exerted faster +++, strenght penalty+++
    under 20% exerted faster ++++, strenght penalty ++++
    under 10% exerted faster +++++, strenght penalty+++++
    0% ...... dead (which means you'd have to eat nothing at all for 7 straight days to die of starvation, in that exemple)

    Maybe even a health penalty, since we're weaker to face injuries & sickness when we're starving. It could be actually cool if your health % was the same as your nutrition/hunger average %.

    On the other hand, if you're lucky enough to eat at your fill or even more :

    You get "mood" and health bonuses when you go above 110%, 120%, 130% etc... in that case, even a slight strenght bonus might actually make sense compared to the actual insta strenght boost you have for a few hours just after you ate. But very subtle, not above +2 "carry unit" & slight damage boost at the maximum bonus. But I think I'd still personally prefer no strenght bonus at all, I don't know... because that would be an actually well deserved bonus.

    Also, the lower your nutrition average is, the more depressed you are, also gets some moar sadness penalty if you eat under 50% of the daily amount of food you need (60 in the exemple)

    I know this is random but i was sitting here thinking mhmm what would help PZ be more realistic. I know it's a long stretch but how about adding more alcoholic products into the vanilla game besides Whiskey and WIne. Lets be real most of us Rednecks and Hillbillies in Kentucky drink mostly good beer and moonshine. I would love to see these implemented into the game. Suggestion that goes with these "Beverages ;)" Make it where they Bring down the depression and panic but over time with alcohol the player starts to DEPEND on the alcohol and starts becoming more depressed or suffers withdraws that vary from severe depression,more frequency of thirst,becomes panicked more often..etc..

    Loving this idea. But I suggest cleaning these dirty rags with disinfectant, or bleach. I don't think water and soap would get rid of the zombie infection so easily, or.. y'know, protect you from the common cold at least. The above would make getting clean rags more difficult, and realistically acheivable, giving more purpose to bleach and medical supplies.
