I love the new skills and profession system, i really want to get my hands on it, i love when you can build different characters like in Cataclysm DDA, but the one concern i have with this new system is that when is out, i am like 80% sure that most people will play Carpenter only.

Both in SP and MP, for the reason alone of begin a carpenter equals to have a infinite water source.

I feel like i am railroaded to be a carpenter on all the playthoughs or servers for the sole reason of water, i know that you can still go to toilets and get some water, but still some day that water is going to be dry or that area is going to get infested for X reason.

Why cant we draw water from the river? I think we have the items (bleach, campfire or maybe add tablets) to atleast boil the water and drink it.

Or some bucket? Maybe a tarp? If we have more options other than carpentery to gain water, i think more people would use different professions or not begin a harden carpenter of 1 week old apocalypse?

Is really the only complain i have, i dont like having to be a carpenter to be able to get water, what if i want to be a overweight, asthmatic, anti social NEET in the game?

I would be able to get water from toilets and sinks sure, but if i want to live in the woods, i need to have some barrels with me otherwise i will die of thirst.

Pls tell me that you guys are adding the TV and Radio programs next update

Yea, I updated the map to 2.0 now; increasing the size from a 5x5 map to a whopping 22x16 map.

With this latest update (2.0), you can now explore North of New Denver to the Slocan Lake Golf Course, South to the Farmlands, and the world East of New Denver, with houses, farms, and more.
More bug fixes have been addressed, so the game should play more smoothly now.
Update 2.0 does NOT have foragable land outside of the original map size (I'm only one person!!! but I will update this ASAP)
Note the 2.0 Update will require you to start a new game as the exact location of New Denver has increased the distance to Muldraugh

Behold! For 11 months I secretly worked on map accurately depicting my hometown.  In this 22x16 cell map, each building is unique and comparable to the real-life New Denver, down to (almost) every house, shed, etc.  I`d add the amount of buildings I created but I lost count long ago.

    During the creation of the map, a horrible canoe accident claimed 4 of my friends;
    Skye Donnet,
    Jule Wiltshire-Padfield,
    Hayden Kyle,
    and Lily Harmer-Taylor,
so this map is dedicated to their memory.

(2.0) - Added "The Back Forty" update, have fun... (1.75) - Added Friday Market! This consists of a bunch stands set up by locals found:

            some more bugfixes, etc.
(1.7) - Over 75 bugfixes from unaccessable stairs, and blocked rooms, to
others, and some additional objects added.   (1.6) - Updated map compatability to build 32, bugfixes, etc.   (1.5) - Roads have been detailed with potholes, cracks and grime, added street signs and street lights, and some more changes    (1.4) - Added object.lua for trapping and foraging; it's mostly finished and will get updated soon, and some more bug fixes   (v1.31) - Multiple bug fixes, thanks to SiderisAnon for the good word.   (v1.3) - Removed the unsightly grass patches and updated the forest grass, multiple bug fixes, connected the road to Muldraugh   (V1.2) - Fixed up mentioned bugs and a few I found. A handful of graphical updates, road lines, missing blends, etc.   (V1.11) - Fixed the invisible wall problem at the museum that Marinus had pointed out, thanks bro!   (V1.1) - Added spawn points to New Denver, now it'll be like you actually lived there
(v1.06) - Fixed the house Spartanz920 mentioned, no one likes a house
    with bugs in it
(v1.05) - Now with a working Zombie Spawn Map; Now you can enjoy New Denver in fear!

(v1.0) - At the moment, the map is ready and playable.  There are no spawn points yet, and certain details (mostly road accents) have not been added yet.  There has been some bug testing, but bugs still exist.

Try spacing out your planting dates instead of planting all your seeds on one day, waiting for the crop to grow, then watching the harvest go to rot. Plant a few plants every few days. Time it right, and eventually you'll have smaller, more frequent harvests ensuring constant fresh veggies, and no more huge harvests getting tossed out.

Go fishing, trapping, forging, whatever gives you food.

I always thought of farming as a long term goal, i am glad they finally made farming take longer.
But if you want your harvest to be really worth it, you need to make it really big otherwise the wait isnt going to be worth it.
Also you better get those jars lids and jars to can your food.

I agree, "This is how you learned to survive!" doesn't really sound right. "This is how you died" is cool, but isn't it a little long for a game difficulty name, especially for people who haven't really played the game before? The "This is how you died" phrase has a place in the heart of every PZ player, but if you load up the game for the first time, it's just gonna be confusing.
Oh, and I don't know if it's just me, but using the term "casual" when talking about video games...

I thought about solar panels and such as well but came to realize that if the devs want to strive for realism they probably wouldn't add them. Mostly because it does take quite a bit of knowledge/equipment to set a system like that up. I was looking it up for some supplemental power for my home but found that its a pretty technical field and I wouldn't think most people would have the knowledge to work that out. I mean you can infer what to do with hammer and nails but electronic circuits and engineering are a whole other ball game. Its much more than just hooking a panel up to a battery.
At least that's my opinion. You might be able to get away by adding some tech skill and books but I still wouldn't feel like that would be very realistic. I have an introduction textbook to electric circuits and its pretty damn thick and technical. I'd find it hard to believe you could find time to get through the book, find the panels, wires, deep cycle batteries, inverters, etc. and do all that while nearly starving in the apocalypse. Also batteries and panels break/wear and wouldn't be sustainable unless you had a constant supply of loot to replace/repair your system.
Again just my humble opinion .

At what point is normal to be drowsy?
I wake up, my friend goes to the normal routine of checking around the house for zombies while i make some foud, and then after 3 hours i feel drowsy for some reason, maybe i didnt sleep well cause i sleep in a chair?

Also the only problem i have with the resting mechanic is that either you can't eat/read while doing it, why is that?

You know that after that adrenaline rush you get you are pretty much going to pass out (pls add passing out to the game) and be tired the whole next day?
Adrenaline is good for us cause we dont really use it at all, only when we are in danger, in the zombie apocalypse we are going to be in danger pretty much everytime we go outisde.

If you ever had an adrenaline rush, you feel great while running away from whatever danger there is, you dont feel pain or tierness at all for a minute or more, but after that rush, you feel like absolute shit cause you mostly used all your energy in a very short span of time.

Also you can jog for 1 hour easily, but you need to train for that, but run for 1 hour? There are people who can run for an hour, but not while carrying a bag full of loot while fighting off people with a baseball bat in both hands and jumping over windows.

Also too much adrenaline makes your heart beat faster, good luck trying to rest after having adrenaline rushs everytime you see a zombie or trying to sleep.

Right, not wanting to quell discussion but I think this thread has gone on long enough and is unlikely to reach any agreement and tempers are fraying quickly.

    In short:

    1)  We have and have always had a very specific ideology for the game, and that ideology has served us well and the majority of people who play our game bought it for that ideology. We can't buckle over a few people's disagreement when we know we're serving the vision the game is built on otherwise that vision is compromised and the result becomes diluted. We've buckled in the past and its that buckling that lead to the watered down difficulty levels in the first place. A camel is a horse designed by committee. While we value and involve the community heavily in the development of the game and that should be clear to anyone in the community, we need to be steadfast in what we feel important to serve the game's vision. It's our past dedication to hardcore, you're not immune, you're just a normal joe that got our game where it is, and horde killing is a no no for our game's default Survival mode or story modes. It's the antithesis of what the game is supposed to be about. The old endurance and zombie difficulty resulted in many players killing more zombies in a few days than Rick Grimes has killed throughout the entirety of The Walking Dead. In terms of the ethos of Project Zomboid it was broken. Simple as that.
    2) The system is still being balanced. It will improve over the next few beta builds and all kinks will be worked out. If something is legitimately annoying or frustrating then of course we'll balance to remove the frustration from it while retaining the advantages the system is designed to have.
    3) We will provide enough sandbox options that will cater for those who don't like the new endurance, or who value killing 10s or 100s of zombies more than being hunted and being terrified of them. If that's the experience you want to play, and paid money for the game while that playstyle was possible, you deserve the opportunity to play that way and we have no right to say you are wrong. However we will not compromise the vision of the default vanilla game and firmly believe (as many others do) that the new exhaustion system, while not final and not perfect, is in line with that vision. The old system was wrong for Survival mode, even if its a perfectly valid way people should be able to play our game should they choose. We added sandbox mode so that we would be free to pursue our vision for the main Survival mode, and as such will continue to do so. We will not deny you your own preferred playstyle but we're under no obligation to make your preferred play style the default or official play style on which most play, experience and judge the game, and we reserve the right to pursue the vision we set out for the game if we're not denying you the ability to play your own.

By all accounts except for about two people who are complaining te answer is "yes." It makes you plan your time (much like Dwarf Fortress, Cataclysm DDA, Unreal World, and other challenging survival sims PZ is trying to emulate). It also increases difficulty in a "fair" way (unfair ways being things out of player control like increasing zombie strength or speed).

First of all, you don't condescend "to" someone, you ARE condescending to someone.
On topic, your last sentence proves my entire point. You think the game is about fighting zombies and that is EXACTLY the behavior the devs are trying to cull with this update.
So ya, it's time to relearn how to play. If you want to kill hordes ten you have to go rest doing it. If you're not wanting to kill hordes, then you don't have to rest in fights because it's easy to get through small ones- I've done it many times.
This just further proves my point. The trip between Muldraugh and West Point was always meant to be a major challenge not just a short time with the sprint key mashed.
I'm sorry that you want PZ to be an action arcade game but that's not what it is or what it was ever meant to be.
I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that it takes three days now anyways; walking doesn't give you any exertion. If you're not treating sprint like an always on key then it's close to the same trip it's always been.
But that's not how you're playing. You're trying to sprint everywhere and kill every zombie along the way. You can deny it, but there's no way you're getting exhausted any other way.

I been playing this game for a long time too like you, i was never under the impression that in this game i need to kill the whole horde to have fun.

The new system only kinda limits how much you can run and fight, making a balance and actually making you try to think ahead of what you are going to do.

Now i kill only when i REALLY need to kill zombies, cause if you just keep killing zombies, you are not going to be able to run back to your safehouse anymore and you are going to found youself in the middle of the city at night, tierd and zombies trying to eat you.
Sure the system may have some flaws, but is going to be fixed anyway, dont tell me you didnt change your way to play when they added that little circle to aim guns? Or to charge a swing? I did cause those changed...well changed the gameplay a lot, this now will change the gameplay and we need to get used to it, i didnt like how we could keep running forever around the city taking very small breaks, now if we run for a while, we need to rest for a while too, and if we keep running we are going to be out of breath very soon.

Could we possibly make a text popup that happens any time a player swings like… more than ten time in ten seconds? Have it come up like ten times before shutting down.
I kinda agree that if people continually refuse to play the game right when being directly told we can't cater to them. Obviously we want to be as clear and up front as possible; but it's like people who want to play te game by grabbing firearms and shooting up all of the zombies. We can't cater to those people, either.
