Body Builder reacted to ulagudie in New clothing with armor values
Hello everyone, in this suggestion I will be talking about what clothing I would like to see in the game and how I believe different clothing should have a different "armor value" attached to them.

DISCLAIMER: I am aware that there have been many posts about armor and that armor is a maybe on the list of "Commonly Suggested Suggestions", but most threads about armor (that I have seen) talk about things that in my opinion would either be to OP, wouldn't fit into the lore, or just too silly and impractical (looking at you, posts about duct tape armor, looking at you). This will not be a post about steel plate armor or a Kevlar vest, but rather practical things that you will be able to find basically anywhere.
ALSO sorry that this suggestion got a little long, the more I wrote the more I wanted to write .

Now that I got the disclaimer out of the way, lets move on to my suggestion...

I am not sure whether or not wearing clothes reduces the chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin, but if this is current, then I do believe it does not.
My suggestion: adding armor values to already implemented clothes and adding new clothes that have different armor values, as well as other values like, inventory size, etc.

    How this will work:
    Shoes-
flip-flops/sandals- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 5%. Although not a very practical set of clothing to have on in a zombie apocalypse, it would still be better than going barefoot.  Tennis shoes (the type already in the game)- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 25%. Working boots- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 50%. Although an armor value this high may seem a tad too high remember that these are shoes. Unless you're being attacked by a crawler (or walking on a pile of broken glass) this wouldn't make you too unstoppable Pants-
Shorts- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 10%. Although your legs are completely bare, your crotch will be just "fine" and "protected" from the teeth and claws of your undead neighbors. Jeans- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 25%. Your legs are better covered, but one layer of denim can't protect you from teeth and nails that well. Leather pants- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 40-45%. Although this is a higher armor value, most zombies aren't going to try to bite your thigh when your neck and face is out in the open, combine that with the fact that your character will get really hot while wearing these makes it sounds a lot less OP.
    Shirts-
Classic T-shirt- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 5%. Most t-shirts aren't very thick and almost anything sharp can tear a hole into them, though it's still better than going outside naked. Long sleeve shirt/turtle necks- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 10%. Protects more of your body, but will still be really easy to tear through. Vests-
A normal vest- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 10%. A nice thick vest protecting your torso, leaving your arms perfectly exposed to the elements and the sharp teeth of your enemies. Leather vest- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 20% A nice thick vest protecting your torso, leaving your arms perfectly exposed to the elements and the sharp teeth of your enemies. Jackets-
Sweater- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 20%. Thicker than a shirt, higher temperature than a shirt. sweatshirt- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 25%. Has a hood, pockets, and decent thickness. leather jacket- chance of bites/scratches making contact with your skin is reduces by 50%. Yes, this is a tad high and may be a little too OP... I might change the value later..
There is so many more clothing items I want to suggest but i'm sure the majority of them have already been suggested; this post was mainly about the "armor values" of clothing anyway though. Thanks for reading.

New version is finished with quite a few changes/fixes.  I would suggest deleting your NCYawMod folder, installing this new version and then starting a new game.  If not, some of the property changes for some of the items will not be updated.  Changelog:
vB30.006 - 01/17/2015 --Updated DisplayName property for every ammunition item --[Should make it easier to see how many rounds you have] --Added Combat Knife recipes --[It will now perform same actions as a Kitchen knife] --Tweaked Weapon Part Kits weights --[Original firearm weight - 20% = Weapon Part Kit weight] --[Suggested by Krogothar] --Adjusted damage values of most melee weapons --[Hopefully not as OP now] --Tweaked Tactical Axe --[Now a one handed weapon] --[Deals less damage, no knockback and rare to knock down] --[Suggested by Krogothar] --Adjusted magazine reload speeds for Normal/Hardcore difficulty levels --[Seems a bit more realistic] --Fixed Magazine texture issue --[Textures now show correctly] --Adjusted spawn rates --[Things should be a bit harder to find now]Note: If you have both a Kitchen Knife and Combat Knife in your inventory and try to do an action such as 'Slice Bread', there will be 2 seperate menu items in the context menu.  It is this way because I did not want to modify base game files and override.

Hello, one and all. Monday means many things to many people – but to us it means it’s time to unveil Build 31’s intentions for locking and unlocking doors in Project Zomboid!
Here at The Indie Stone we’re all about adding a little bit of door glamour to the start of your week. First though…

    Finalizing Build 30
The amazing, lovely and slightly beautiful EasyP has been throwing in fix after fix for Build 30, with 30.16 being thrown into public IWBUMS testing only this morning. Once we’re sure it’s firing in all areas, it will be rolled out in the main branch. We’ll then check over the remaining issues to see whether we still need a few more updates, or whether we’re at a point to ‘call time’ on Build 30 and move our full attention onto the next. It’s at this point that we’ll also be able to update the Desura build.

    Ooh. Shut that door.
Listen carefully, and you’ll hear the tip-tap of gallic footsteps. That’s right everyone, it’s PZ coder Romain ‘RJ’ Dron with the reveal of his first Build 31 feature. Here’s the run-down on what’s new:

“You will now spawn with the key of your own house on a key ring. Your key ring can be considered a new container type in your inventory, although only keys can be kept in there. As you loot and explore you’ll find the keys of other houses that have been left for safekeeping in their drawers and cupboards. Sometimes they’ll be on the bodies of the zombies that spawn in those houses too.”
“With a key you can lock and unlock doors all doors that correspond to it, and to check what it will open you can mouse over the key on your inventory key ring and the corresponding doors will highlight on-screen. You can also lock and unlock doors on houses from the inside without owning a key, just as you could in real-life.”

“But wait, that’s not all. When you destroy a door, if you have the right key, you can pick up the door knob and rebuild a new door with it – and your key will match!”

“And finally, I’ve also introduced padlocks! You can add a padlock onto your hand-made crates to secure them. They’ll be automatically unlocked if you have the key, but in MP others won’t be able to get inside them. Although, of course, if they have a crowbar that’s a different matter.”

And here’s a video, so you can see how it all works with your own peepers.

    Also of note
Stealth work, NPC work and whatnot continues in the background (as ever) while PZ’s upcoming – and somewhat goliath – map update is another primary and ongoing occupation for the team. TurboTuTone’s WordZed application has also had a lot of work put into it, and he and Will hope to use it to create an initial in-game ‘test’ radio station over the week ahead.

    Cool stuff from elsewhere
Last week we spotlit Xeonyx’s absolutely amazing New Denver map, and this week we’d like to give a quick Mondoid to two other cool PZ fan projects.

The first is the return of Thuztor’s Vacation Island that we’d strongly recommend that the community keeps its eyes on.
The second is a super-cool PZ card game that a nice chap called Andrew is creating in Tabletop Simulator. Given that the creation of a card game, of sorts, has been integral in the continuing development of our NPC system – this is proving a really interesting project for us.

    Jerry’s Final Thought
It’s been a shitty seven days in the real world, as we’re sure that everyone is painfully aware. The Project Zomboid community is an amazing one: people of different nationalities, people of different cultures and people of different faiths – all bound together through our weird little game. It’s great, and the way it should be.

It’s also a game with a strong French lean in terms of development, and a passionate group of French supporters who’ve been with us since the very start. With this in mind we’d like to extend our support and sympathies to our French audience at this difficult time. No matter what our differences are, bloodshed should never be the answer.

Do you ever forget it’s Monday, and accidentally make Mondoid a Tuesdoid by checking too late? Maybe you fall even further into Wednesdoid or Thursdoid? Well, never again! With the PZ newsletter all future updates and blogs are sent straight to your email inbox. Mondoid will forever be in its rightful timeslot.

Thanks again y'all; in terms of update, I've been knocking out the next update for the past few days, (exterminating bugs, mowing the yards down, touch ups, and polishing) and it's coming along.
(Pro Tip: Don't place the grass textures in building ed, it takes forever to open every individual lot file to clear the grass, FYI; I did the grass originally before the erosion mod was integrated, when it got added, I continued to add the grass, oy, bad idea, let the erosion mod take care of the growing.)
Needless to say, the next update (1.3) will be around within the next couple of days, have fun until then!

Place the folder from inside 7z to C:\Users\username\Zomboid\mods and when in game activate it from mods menu by double clicking.
Edit: There is a minor graphical thing where there is a white outline kinda thing on small version of the sprite, I'll try to fix it when I get home today if it bothers anyone.

This thread will from now on hold various sprite recolors I made for myself.

Recolored Hiking Bags: Updated to 0.2 - 28.01.2015
A simple mod created only to add some variety, it changes the sprite of Normal and Big Hiking Bags.

Required Version: Project Zomboid Early Access Build 29-31

Modified Book Sprites: Updated to 0.4 - 22.03.2015
Another simple mod created to add variety, it changes the appearence of all skill books giving each a unique color and an image having to do with the skill on the cover.

I know the quality is kind of meh but I'm not too good at making or editing sprites, still, It works for me so maybe it'll work for someone else too
