For the log wall it should have different build times. No shovel = longest, Trowel = slightly shorter, Spade = shortest time. But what about those that build them on concrete? Require a hammer = longer time, Sledgehammer = shortest time.

An workbench/storage area would be nice if we could prebuild then move the items to where they are needed (add in a planning mode lol) allowing entire teams to put things together. Main carpenter gets most experience for building the base of the items. Installer gets less experience for just going over and plopping them down into place.

For some things like solar panels they could make them randomly generate rarely attached to random houses.

These houses would already be considered equipped with solar power so building a base there would be more desired than elsewhere.
This could be a rare possibility and would randomly happen on new world start. (To make it different every time.)

This was it somewhat works and would require less knowledge other than plug in the fridge and such. Later on they could add a way to find out how much power is available and the player could remove/add things to not go over the generated power.

Damaging the solar panels should also be a thing such as if they are attacked by a player or zombies they could break or loose efficiency.

    - Still say that based on skill and such random books/pieces of paper might teach people with the correct skills/levels how to install/uninstall/move/modify items in the game world to an extent. High mechanic skill and a couple books and installation guides to the solar power things (the ones that are small of course) could allow someone that worked hard to maybe go around and steal the parts from other areas and set up in a safer place.

Special instruction papers/books could end up as a trade-able commodity for in multiplayer.

wsensor got a reaction from Gustav in Enhance nofirespread and Create Corpse Decay
I think a corpse decay is necessary after awhile.
Make it take 3-4 days in game and just have zombies added to the respawn count elsewhere to bring some extras back to replace the dead ones. This would allow for when a server has a mass zombie killing and then the next few respawns would have extra zombies popping up in some areas. (Would make traveling harder as the zombies might pop up in a road that was not traveled in lately and lie in wait for someone thinking it would be completely safe.)

Things outside of containers should also degrade over time or break apart faster.

Food left out rots faster than it would if you had put it in a bag/crate regardless.
Anything with durability should break apart somewhat if left out in the weather and not properly stored.

I think some zombies could be gave professions soon that modifies how they might look and what loot they might have.
    IE:
You ran into a zombie wearing a doctors/nurses/medics/ambulance drivers uniform they might have medical supplies on the dead bodies. Sport Player Outfit: Based on what type of sports outfit they might have something unique on them like a bat or a helmet etc. Fireman outfit zombie might have an axe or raincoat or firemans hat etc. Stuff like that would be nice.

I blame lemmy for this, he put the idea in my head

This is a mod adding a hotbar for quick item access to the bottom of the HUD.
You can get it in three sizes:
    - Small:

    - Medium:

    - And large:

You can find the settings and a configurable button to toggle the hotbar in the options menu:

And attach items to the slots via the contextmenu:

And quick access the context menu from the hotbar with RMB:

And finally, download the mod here:

This would be a nice thing to have in the server options.
Like give everyone an extra couple of points.

Would also be nice if we could modify what jobs are available and such in mp or add in custom ones without a mod to mp.

    IE: MP Server:

Trait Options: +4 free trait points for unemployed +2 for all others. (Could be based on each job type.)
Disallowed Traits: all sleep effecting traits.
Free Trait: (All players get this free trait.)

Job Disabling Traits: (These traits will disable certain jobs. IE: Clumsy/Noisy type traits would disable the thief job.)

Custom Jobs: Could be put into an ini file and just uploaded on server join. These jobs are only visible on said server as the information would not need to be kept for other servers.
Custom Traits: Could also be the same but instead would be stored on client side to keep the information.

Recipes can use "OnGiveXP:MyLuaFunction" to award XP when a recipe is used.  MyLuaFunction should take 4 arguments.  See the top of media/lua/server/recipecode.lua for an example. Mods can add their own media/lua/shared/Translate/ files. Fixed shoving zombies through closed windows. (Issue #001403) Add some translations.  The translationProblems.txt file (which is created when using the -debugtranslation option) now lists all missing translations in a form you can copy/paste into your translation files.  It also reports different numbers of % substitutions. Fixed reanimated player inventory syncing in multiplayer. (Issue #001418) Fixed /addxp server command. (Issue #001416) Fixed "panic" sound playing for reanimated players. Fixed reanimated player walk animation being broken 1 time in 40 (caused gliding zombies).

I can never carry all my stuff T_T... I tend to hoard everything at random sometimes just because I don't want others to have the random shiny things I find (yes even in single player).  One day I had 3 backpacks completely full of silverware and pens/pencils I grabbed it all and this was because it was all I could find in the online server almost everything was looted at the time lol.

I say that all those books/magazines/newspapers/pieces of papers could give us different designs and such for furniture and buildables.

Basic carpentry books give basic designs but you might find a carpentry magazine telling you how to make a unique looking chair or table.

That's just eye candy and as I like to say, eye candy is always a welcome addition but only after everything else has been done. And when it comes to chairs, I'd really love to see a sitting animation before more chair sprites
Heh, now that I think about it, we have seem to got to the point where zombies are such a huge threat that some of us decided to take on discussions on designing the interiors of our safehouses Somebody buff the damn zombies please!

I would like some workbenches and such to be buildable where you can store your supplies in/around them and just go next to them and get a build list of what can be done with the surrounding supplies and work from there. It does not need to give a speed bonus at all other than the fact you could build a better quality product IE: a door that looks better or a different model of chair etc...

Using a workbench to fabricate the item could give it durability bonus and stuff. Also building in one area while teammates take finished items to install elsewhere could be useful as the main person is building while they just install the finished sections in the correct places.

A way to deconstruct existing furniture in houses would be nice too.

I would like to see the wooden dowel mod added to base game to allow for building without nails. Basically make it 1 or 2 levels harder to build each item meaning that quality can never pass 3rd quality without real nails.

Screws should be useable to build with just as with nails.

I would like to see another option then the right click to build and such,

Will we ever get the ability to have a bar on the side of the screen or bottom with pop ups for building?
(I just find it easier then using the right click menu everytime I want to build something different.)

Crafting areas where we store supplies and get a menu to pop up to craft items with whats available would be nice to have eventually too. (Not necessary though just would be nice to store stuff and have a craft bench that could allow you to craft with items stored in a certain area of it.)

wsensor reacted to Icewind in A new tool and a couple of cosmetic suggestions…
    1) A new tool: pliers or nippers… with it, you can remove good nails and regain them back. Before you breaking the walls and barricades you've made – take some time to pull the nails back… It can be a chance of 20% success for example.. because, not all the nails stay in good shape after you use them…

    2) There is a screwdriver in game – so there must be screws!! They can be an alternative to nails. And you can unscrew them back easily, undamaged, ready to reuse…

    3) When building walls and your carpentry level is low (1,2,3) – the walls look holey and rickety… Later on – you see the difference when you start to build walls on hight carpentry level (4,5). I want to be able to repair those holey walls that I have builded earlier (maybe1 more plank + 1 more nail) to look the same as builded on level 4,5. Without breaking them down to build them again just for them to look the same.

    4) I want to be able to clean those broken windows frםm the shards of glass
Maybe even, to be able to install a new glass, that I can bring from the neighbors house… but that’s someday later… at first, at least - to clean those shards.

    5) There also can be a small chance to cut yourself if you climbing thru the broken window without cleaning those shards first. Especially when the character is tired, sleepy or heavy loaded with bag

    6) And one more thing… maybe a heavy rain can wash and clean the bloodstains… especially from the asphalt…

Would be nice if we could collect rocks or bricks to make our campfire slightly safer also?
Perhaps a metal grate to place over the flames or just a baking pan/pie sheet could be used.

For the fire making skill it would be nice if you could give experience based on tools used to make the fire?
    IE:
    Books:
Camping guide book could give an experience bonus based on the tools used to make the fire?
Boyscout Book same as the camping guide and wilderness survival guide gives access to additional ways to make a fire safely.
Wilderness Survival guide book upon reading could give you access to additional ways to make a fire both safely and not?

Depending on the tool you get more or less experience if you succeed? (This could replace the need for multiple books at later levels.)
Since both lighters and matches are almost guaranteed to give a fire after adding a book/paper/magazine it should always give the least experience.

The basic campfire look is ok but perhaps different campfire styles/better campfires.
I mean there should be a way to build a better and safer more permanent fireplace.

Some stores sell premade campfire kits (made of metal/brick) or you can use concrete/bricks/stones and build your own?
All just to stop fire from spreading of course and some might not be able to be taken down.

If you ever add in a camping supply store (or add it to the firearms type store) you could add in things like. (taken from wikipedia)
fire striker – a piece of high carbon steel used for striking a spark, usually kept in a tinderbox together with flint and tinder. firelighter – small solid fuel tablets sold as a consumer product and designed to replace kindling in starting a fire.

    Compatibility and Design Notes
This mod should be compatible with your current save AND all other mods.  Just install the mod and play! (I recommend making a backup of your save first just to be extra cautious.)

Design Philosophy: This mod is designed to simply add depth to the base game without changing any fundamental game-play mechanics.  No spawn rates were changed, where you would normally find a Spiffo in the base game you will now find a Gift Box.
Future Proof: As long as Spiffo is in the base game, this mod should work without problems with all future builds.
Other Mods: This mod has no known conflicts.
Variant Spiffos: The variant Spiffos are a mix of cute and disturbing.  The intent was to add to the overall horror themed atmosphere but maintain Spiffo's inherent cuteness.

Last night I went into the gunshop looted some stuff took it far away put it into a crate I had made ran back to get some stuff I could not carry and repeated several times and it just kept restocking.
Today I watched as a hoard of zombies was almost insta respawning even though they had all just been killed by shotgun...

Might want to check what the rates are for loot restocking and zombie restocking. As if you kill a hundred zombies and then 10 minutes later you kill another hundred and rinse and repeat over and over in the same area that seems bad.

Might have to do a complete map reset after checking the settings.
