You do know that they often use Three-phase electricity for ovens instead of gas do you?
It's a lot safer since there is nothing in your vicinity that's able to explode.
But on the subject. There could be some of both in PZ. Thats something I would like to happen.

oh okay, i get it. Not all gas stoves can be doable for this. Such a waste of the item-Propane Tank.

My cooktop uses gas, can be connected to an LPG canister if necessary and can be lit with a match or lighter. But I'm not in the US at all.

Just imagine some nutjob (Bobby Collins) walking into your house yelling for you to come out, and you don't have a sheet rope, so you take the only option you have: Hide in the wardrobe. Maybe we can sneak-attack from inside? Like, jump out and surprise them, or maybe slowly creep out so if they're facing away, they won't hear and you can sneak up on them.

I can see this opening up a new level of game play. I probably wouldn't often use it. But in the case of a heavily armed agressive NPC roaming into my house hiding somewhere would be of great assistance in survival.

I was watching I am Legend a couple of days ago (great film by the way) and it made me want to play PZ, so I did. And because I was in an I am Legend mood I went on sandbox, made zombies sprint and gave them incredible strength. Yeah I didn't last very long.
But then I thought, how cool and different would the game be if the zombies were exactly like the I am Legend zombies? In other words; if zombies only came out at night.
I love the idea personally, having your eyes constantly on the clock, and just hoping you can find somewhere safe to spend the night while the zombies try to hunt you down relentlessly until the sun comes up?
Obviously it'd be kept as a sandbox option, it goes completely against how the devs and most of us fans want the zombies to be like, I just thought it'd be an interesting option and a nice twist to the game.
Although implementing it would be hard I guess, with so many zombies about and not that many large buildings to house hordes when the sun comes out. Maybe they could just despawn and respawn in the exact same place they despawned when the sun came out. Although that wouldn't be the best thing to do immersion wise anything else would probably be too hard to implement without getting in the way of development.
    Thoughts? Solutions? Cheese?

I don't like home made solar powered items for reasons I've said before, but in short "average baldspot guy" (and likely the vast majority of you) could never craft a home made functional solar powered anything. They're finicky to work with and fragile.

I like this thinking, and for me it's especially important when multiplayer comes along, or I guess now in splitscreen.  It makes for fun and interesting situations where you need to rescue someone.  I've talked about it before in relation to climbing, being able to climb onto something but being stuck there and waiting/hoping/calling for help.  Of course your idea about getting lucky and having a random event save you could work too, it's the same basic idea.

Being trapped, holed up, surrounded by zombies but "safe" in terms of not actually getting killed by them.  This is a key element in zombie lore, and is a major part of the hopelessness and impending doom that so many fans love about zombie stories.

Aww, that's too sad, after that story I was rooting for your survival!

I had a character, she got scratched, I hoped she would survive because a scratch has a fairly decent survival rate. But alas she developed a fever. I played it out anyway as I usually do, get my best weapons and exact some heavy vengeance. Then when the last stage of the fever sets in get I madly drunk on the whiskey bottles found sofar falling asleep into an intoxicated coma.

And then the next morning the sickness was gone! The sun was shining, birds whistling, another day started. All the zombies had left the neighborhood after the onslaught of the day before. Life was beautifull!

And I remembered the hypochondriac trait!

(Of course she died 2 days later when walking into a bathroom that was already inhabited by 5 corpses and getting grabbed and eaten on the spot, you win some you lose some)

Big kudo's to whomever put the hypochondriac trait into the game

I just had probably one of the most epic moments playing Project Zomboid... and now I'm sharing it with you guys .

So my most recent game I said "I'm gonna live in the heart of the city, where all the zombies are". Most people live on the outskirts of the city, or on the farms away from heavy zombie populations I wanted to see if it was possible to not only survive but even thrive.

Everything is going great, I fortified the Sunstar Hotel to be my castle and I had an abundance of food, weapons, water (electricity and water has stopped in my game) & building tools. I experience from time to time minor zombie invasions but nothing I couldn't handle. But just now I experienced my first full all out zombie invasion; Hundreds of zombies.

    And I survived...

I could have fled, but after I had spent so mush time and effort into building my fort I wasn't about to let zombies get the better of me and force me out of my home just like they had so many times before. I stood my ground. In total I expended just over 200 shotgun shells and think killed just under 1000 zombies (not sure how many zombies I had killed before this happened). Naturally using the shotgun draw more zombies from around the area thus increasing the number of zombies attacking.

This was one of those moments, Instead of fleeing I fought and I prevailed. It's moments like this that make project zomboid a rewarding game. Unfortunately I was bitten in the process. So now I'm hoping that I become the lucky 0.1% chance of No infection. So far 1 night has passed with no sickness moodle.

So I ask, has anyone here had a moment where they feel proud they were able to overcome an extreme challenge in PZ?

I don't think there's "happily ever after" in the game 'coz zeds will deliberately search for you wherever you are, even if you're in NW farm. I tried living there once but after at least a couple of weeks, a massive horde just suddenly showed up from nowhere.

I'd like to know if modders could have a separate changelog where we can see changes in LUA, folder structures and things like that. It would really be helpful. I'll certainly give a hug for that, at the Project Zomboid conference which is bound to happen someday.

Maybe have it so if they see you jump in it, they can go to it and bang on it making more noise to draw more zombies in, then either the can can be damaged (small metal household ones) and you "fall" out and get eaten, or you jump in an actual dumpster bin which will protect you as long as you have food and water and can withstand the unbearable heat or extreme cold (depending on the season you are in and what clothing you have with you, so my sewing kit mod would be useful ) requiring you to just sit there and listen as more and more zombies bang on the bin while you try to out-wait them hoping and praying to the all-mighty Zombie in the sky that an npc survivor, a gunshot or a helicopter flies by and draw the herd away from you just long enough for you to slip out of the bin and take off running down the street the opposite way the herd went, while your thinking in real life "Holy hell, three days in a trash can and I survived!!!"
