  1. Hello there, About 6 months ago or more I played PZ and made a server and everything worked fine. Now, getting back into the game it seems the difficulty spike in making a server has gone up. I do not know what else to do, I cant connect to the server at all, not even locally. I have attempted starting the server both with the PZ Steam dedicated server app as well as the server batch in the directory of the game. It asks for admin password the first time, I have checked the server settings and set it on public and made sure the steam checkboxes were active. I have reinstalled the app and the game and still same results with the server...and like I mentioned on the title, I even activated DMZ and shut off the firewalls from both Windows 7 as well as from the actual router itself. That was after trying to portforward the ports as usual. Please help, I want to get back into PZ with some friends again. : )
  2. That's awesome! thanks for posting it here, ill drop you a pm about possibly updating the main post with it. Also, seems ive neglected this thread a bit (sorry Dr.Cox and dko ) So a little update on the status of the mod, it will likely receive no updates in the near future, however it may or may not reappear in one form or another. No problem, glad to contribute! Also, that may or may not thing sounds intriguing... I agree man. It would make the game way more immersive. Hey ThatUser! Could you explain to me why you have to move all the ApCom-files to the main game dir? ApCom still works fine for me with Build 29.3 and for Build 30.9 I altered the item spawn a little bit (the ZomboidGlobals/SandboxVars have changed, so the lootspawn from ApCom was bugged). Well, it didn't seem to work for either me or my friend on multiplayer, although single player seemed fine. I hosted a brand new server and both of us had the mod installed the normal way, i.e users/zomboid/mods and it didn't seem to work for us. So we ended up going this route of putting the files over to /media and its corresponding folders inside the main directory and things changed. Perhaps we slipped in some of the testing and it was fine? We tested quite a bit though and only this fixed things for us...the installer also sends the files over the users/zomboid/mods since we thought it would be safe to have it there too. At any rate, the installer is an easy thing to use and you dont have to go through all the jumping through folders anymore. *INTRIGUING MUSIC PLAYS*
  3. Hello there! A friend and I have been working on an installer for the mod so that the installation process is as easy as possible and with no complicated steps, in order to make a smooth install for anyone interested in our server. Another reason for the installer is that the mod needed some slight modification to make multiplayer work with build 29.4, in terms of where certain files go to certain folders. Its all smooth sailing from now on! Anyways, here is the link for the installer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s1lin9q9rd927bj/ApCom%20-%20Radio%20Mod%20Installer.rar?dl=0 These are the simple steps in order to install the mod: 1) Make sure that Project Zomboid is closed.2) Double click on "Install ApCom - Radio Mod". Don't worry, no viruses at all. We promise. 3)Run Project Zomboid. Once on the menu, close the game, then start the game up again. 4)Enjoy! Its as simple as that! Be aware that when you wish to play in other servers that do not use the ApCom radio mod, you will need to run the uninstaller, which is of course included in the link up there. Use the installer/uninstaller as you wish and if you are interested in our server then take a look at our server topic on the forum: [Roleplaying][ApCom Radio Mod] [Co-op/PVP] Days of the Dead [build 29.4]
  4. Glad that you found some cool people to play with there Jack. However, I have a surprise for you all. The server has lately been undergoing tests regarding the ApCom radio mod from TurboTuTone that I mentioned a few posts back. I am glad to announce that after a fair amount of testing, everything seems to be working in order with build 29.4. Initially it didn't quite work due to what seems to have been issues with folder locations on the latest stable build, 29.4, and there had to be done some changes regarding that in order to make it work. Its all smooth sailing from now on. -----------------------------------------------ApCom Radio Mod Installation--------------------------------------------------------------- A friend and I have been working on an installer for the mod so that the installation process is as easy as possible and with no complicated steps, in order to make a smooth install for anyone interested in our server. The standard that we will use is 3.725 so its easier to get in touch but you are free to use any you want. 2-There are different walkie talkies, with different ranges. 5-You must equip the radio as secondary. 3-You need a battery for the for the walkie talkies. 4-Be sure to turn the radio on. 5-Once you have a radio with battery, turned on and equipped as a secondary, press "T" for local chat and what you write will be sent through the radio on the frequency that you chose. There is a HAM radio to be found, cassettes and cassette recorders. You can record on the tapes and play them through the HAM radio on a loop if you want. For more info, here is the link of the ApCom radio mod from its creator, TurboTuTone: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/8943-apcom-ham-radios-walkie-talkies-spmp/ TurboTuTone is now part of the PZ dev team, so hopefully we can see this awesome mod becoming a part of the official game soon, like what happened with the erosion system.
  5. Yeah man, I just been doing some testing here and there, with diffferent computers, I want the server to run as smooth as possible but its proving to be a bit of a challenge, however I think I might have it down now... How has the server performance been for you by the way? Also, I am considering doing a soft wipe right now, if any of you have stuff you want saved, you better get it on your character as soon as possible so you dont lose them. The safe house and any changes that you have done will however stay. Also, what do you all say that we play with the radio mod? It looks really interesting! Think about it, no global chat, only local, but with the ability to use radios, record messages on cassettes and play them back through the radio! Check it out: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/8943-apcom-ham-radios-walkie-talkies-spmp/
  6. Ah I see! I was wondering about another thing...would you say that setting up virtual memory up in windows might help with the server? I have 8gb physical ram and have about 50gb free on the hd, which is an 7200rpm. I'm thinking about setting the minimum and maximum of virtual memory to 16gb but perhaps I could use more hd space or would that make things unstable? Im also thinking at the moment to edit the server batch with notepad and make it use 10gb of ram. Would mess things up or would it work fine, like the mix of physical and virtual memory?
  7. Muldraugh over here man...I have seen a few nice people over there too so far. The server is in the process of being moved and should be back up tomorow.
  8. Thanks guys, I moved the server to the other laptop and connected it directly via Ethernet to the router, howevdr there is still some lag around although it's a little bit less then before. But, now I have another issue with the server...for some reason it does not appear on the public server list!! i rechecked the server options and the public tag is still set on true, I don't get it. :S A friend and I managed to connect because we have the server saved in the game and another person logged in yesterday too because of the same reason I guess... What can I do to make it public again?? Edit: Nevermind regarding the public server list thing, I was just a bit impatient, it turned up after a while.
  9. Hello there! I recently started running a server and have been experiencing some performance issues and I was wondering what could I do to improve fps or lower lag? I'm currently running the server and playing the game on the same computer, the specs of which are: Intel i7 3720QM 2.60 Ghz cpu Nvidia GeForce GT 750m 1gb ram Windows 7 64-bit 8 gb ram Running the server usually uses up about 4 gb of ram, well it runs up to that I think one time 5 gb or close to it. Sometimes inside the safe house which has been modified a bit and also has quite a bit of items, I experience low fps looks like slowmotion but once I go out the speed is normal, it only happens inside the house and comes and goes. The lag happens mostly outside with the zombies stuck without moving for a it in a walking animation. It comes and goes but usually with more players it happens more regularly. I'm currently running the server with a 16 player cap but considering lowering it a bit but not sure how much. It would be great to run the server with 16 players though. Any advice? I was thinking about perhaps running the server off another laptop and running the game on the laptop mentioned above, however it would be on the same connection. Would that maybe give better server performance? Perhaps I could also use Ethernet on the server laptop instead of wifi? The other laptop I have that I'm thinking solely for the server has the following specs: Intel i3 2310 cpu. 2.10 ghz 6gb ram Nvidia GeForce GT 520 1gb Also would running the server on one laptop and playing the game on a different laptop work fine with steam? Appreciate any help on this!
  10. Question: Is 25 people the amount that can have access to the server or the amount that can be online at once? It supported 25 people overall, however I have put down the numbers a bit due to lag lately. Cool man, I have seen you on the players list, glad you have joined us a few times, sorry for any server hiccups, still new to all this and getting the kinks ironed out. Hope to see you again! Norway. That sounds awful man, really sorry about that, like I said im still new to all this server hosting and been experimenting lately with the population cap due to some lag being a problem, so I had to lower it to 13 for a bit. I think 16 might be the sweet spot for the moment, so I upped it to that. Anyway, I have been doing some maintenance on the server computer today and also have done a soft server wipe to hopefully help out with any lag issues as well.
  11. Cool man! There were quite a few people that joined yesterday, that was pretty good. A friend and I actually started playing the game again yesterday, we had a few months break from it but are now catching up with the latest build. We actually wanted to run the 30.3 build but for some reason it doesn't run well on his computer so we went with build 29.4. At any rate, sadly the server had a little hiccup late at night yesterday and was gone for a bit. But that has now passed. The server is now back up and running...! P.S: Previously the max amount of players was set to 14 but seeing as it was running fine with that I upped the limit to 25 players. What would you say about that amount? Is it fine or too much?
  12. Hello there! I just started this roleplaying server and hope to have more people joining up, it should be up 24/7 and is a public server. The ApCom Radio mod has been enabled in the server. Only local chat is allowed in order to hopefully be more immersive for the players. In combination with the radio mod enabled, this should give a nice touch to game. There is co op and pvp, it all depends on the situation and the persons in it, but regardless of the outcome of an encounter, it is mandatory for all to roleplay as much as possible. Also, only use OOC if strictly necessary. OOC example: Player 1: "OOC, Oh my god, there is lag!"Player 2: "OOC, No, theres not, this server is awesome!" IC example:Player 1: "I'm sure this madness this won't last forever, IT CAN'T last forever. Someone will come to rescue us sooner or later! They will heal you right up!"Player 2: "It's pointless..! You can't help me! I've been bitten..! I'm sick and I know I'm going to die soon." Speaking OOC while in IC will be penalized with being kicked out of the server and if repeated enough times will result with a ban. OOC=Out of character.IC=In character. -----------------------------------------------ApCom Radio Mod Installation----------------------------------------------------------------- A friend and I have been working on an installer for the mod so that the installation process is as easy as possible and with no complicated steps, in order to make a smooth install for anyone interested in our server. The server is public and you should be able to find it, but here is the IP: 85.166.95.72. Port: 16261 At any rate, looking forward to play with more likeminded people! Have fun, keep it clean and watch out...they are coming to get you... P.S: Serious roleplaying for serious players. EDIT: Updated post to include info regarding the ApCom Radio mod that has now been enabled on the server!
