Did you change the resolution without restarting the game?

I've only seen this on the 32-bit version of the game client? Normally that's the cause for me. Something about 32-bit drivers do not like the zoom feature. I'd try running the 64-bit version (%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\ProjectZomboid64.exe) then, if that does not work, updating your drivers from AMD.

Actually filling a container with the same item tends to result in a loss of space. Generally speaking, an item won't fit neatly into a box. Try to fill any box with soup or tuna cans - you're left with the spaces in between the round edges and the box, perfect for tea bags or napkins or something else. If you try with a square or rectangular object, you're likely to end up with spaces against one or more sides of the box that can fit books among other things.

I'm guessing you've never packed your own things and tried to move house.  Because you get really creative with this kind of thing when packing everything you own.

Well, a good part of the threat of zombies is that there are so many of them. They're a restless, unrelenting force, which in moderate numbers can overwhelm the best of men if they aren't properly equipped and paying attention.

I think the issue I have with the current populations is that having so much of an ambient population makes hordes a bit less terrifying. I mean yes - a horde of 100+ zombies will be scary no matter what - but if you're used to only finding one here and there, in unsearched buildings and small groups very rarely the streets when they've migrated there from elsewhere, suddenly running into unholy shambling masses would give you a heart attack.  If you run into a small group of like 3-10 on every street, it's less "holy mother of god" and more "oh. Look. More of them."  You just get desensitized. They're a chore to hack away - not much more than that.

    Might just be my impression.

Personally I like the achievements idea - but you could try a twist on it by making them badges. Give each player another profile tab with more in-depth statistics (how many unique books have you read? Unique dishes eaten? total books? total dishes? Total zombies fought - total zombies killed. Number of carpentry projects completed. Plants harvested. etc.) and the badges they've earned from them. All for one lifetime - one character.

Then when they die, if someone else loots the corpse, pop up a window with the top badges the player had earned.

Carpentry for example shows up in your inventory like this:

    Carpentry for Beginners
    Carpentry for Intermediates
    Advanced Carpentry
    Expert Carpentry
    Master Carpentry

Why not rename them like this:

    Carpentry for Beginners
    Carpentry for Intermediates
    Carpentry for Advanced
    Carpentry for Experts
    Carpentry for Masters

Also why not edit the Category as well. So you could have Skill Book, Recipe, and Literature.

Makes searching through your skill books much easier to see what you have/need.

    Genesis
Some of you may have seen my Perma Base design "artwork" on steam, video is pending on me moving my rain barrels because I've chosen to downsize my crop size (way too much before).  Problem is I can't pick them up before I empty them of water. There were 16 "large collector".

    How it work now
Right now you can only fill containers and pour them on the ground.  Turns out I need 13 bucket to empty a single barrel (the 13th one is not full).  Added time of filling them up add up quickly even if I speed time on each "fill bucket".  As stated before, it can't be picked up while there are water in it because it's treated as inventory.  You also need to wait for a moment where it's not raining (and on very rainy setting... that may take some time).

    Suggestion
The simplest and best way to deal with this issue would be to have a "pour on the ground" option for rain barrels, like any other water container.  It's not that far fetched that you can tip the barrel over (but then it's not logical to need hammer + carpentry to move them in the first place...).

Another alternative is that when you try to move the barrel it automatically drop it's water content.  This would not be my best way to go about it, because some may complain they lost valuable water by not knowing the risk beforehand. Thus forcing to drain it first remain a good idea in my book, but it should be quick so that you can easily redo a base layout without spending tens of minutes filling buckets and pouring them on the ground.

    Pretty please
I know this may not be a priority compared to other features (yes, including THAT feature).  But I think it's an easy enough function to add that won't clutter the UI too much and allow a much better use of the "movable furniture" feature for rain barrels.  Compared to them, any other container have not this issue as you could just transfer the inventory to the ground below you (or bags, wichever) rather quickly.

Considering they already have it as a variable option, adding a few extra settings to accommodate more playing styles seems worth the effort IMO (I mean if the background is a mess and it's really really hard to do that it may be a different story - but only the devs know that.) Ditto for splitting plant growth and building decay.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of reducing bore
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, scratching at my chamber door.
`'Tis some lonely zombie raoming, scratching at my chamber door -
    Lonely zed, and nothing more.'

Grabbing knife from kitchen taken, I stood up completely waken
Willing to - by means of weapons - set the zed to final rest.
"F***ing zombie! I was reading to reduce the stress of feeding
Feeding myself with a roasted mouse at the times of best.
So be it, the door I open, enter now, unbidden guest!
    Enter, stinky rotten pest!"

Once the door was opened widely, that zed stepped in roaring wildely
But without a sign of fear I have stabbed him with my blade.
Through the jaw and through the palate pierced the knife. It should be valid
To admit I have a tallent, skill to manage the decayed!
"Zed is dead" - I grinned in darkness - "There is nothing to afraid.
    Back to reading I delayed!"

Considering the way sleep accelerates the clock I think I would prefer the opposite route. Giving people who don't sleep serious penalties to encourage them to join the others and skip the time-frame instead of making people wait around staring at the screen would be more effective and less detrimental to the rest of the game mechanics.

That said, per-server options could satisfy multiple parties.

This is true... It would actually be neat if there were a 'reading' animation... to show what the player was doing, besides. There's a lot of creepy nights in my MP games where my friends and I seem to stand and stare vacantly into space for hours while telepathically reading books somehow, but I know that's a cosmetic thing that'll come later if it comes at all.
