  1. Perhaps not every zombie, but rather an uncommon event that occasionally occurs when a zombie lunges at you? This does make sense, and it could add more variety to encounters. Furthermore, as long as it wasn't super consistant, a player couldn't rely on it to escape. I'm curious to see what others think about this.
  2. No harm in just saying what's on our minds...but perhaps this should be moved to the General Discussion forum by a mod, to keep people from continually pointing out that it's already on the confirmed list. On the contrary, this has been discussed to death on multiple occasions; hence the reason it's on the Commonly Suggested and Confirmed lists. There's no reason not to share what's on your mind, but there's no reason to discuss something in excess that has already been discussed in excess.
  3. That's the universe, attacking you out of spite. The universe is a jerk.
  4. ... I know it's an idea for a mod, and it's technically already in as a placeholder but... exactly why would a soldier be immune to panic?
  5. Let's get one thing straight here; the movie is NOT World War Z. The end. And I doubt zombies could effectively form a 'tower' to reach any high locations. Physics just says no. Shambling zombies would stumble over each other, cause a mess, sure. But... they'd end up forming an impassible barrier, a wall of zombies. It would become too steep for new zombies to climb. Last time I checked, zombies can't climb.
  6. *customary point in the direction of Common Suggestions:* http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/271-pz-suggestion-compilation/ 1. GPS's rely on satellite. I don't know much about satellites, but there's nobody maintaining/controlling them any more, so... 2. See above link. 3. See above link. More variety in basic items such as that is coming. 4. Eh... depends on whether people agree on if that accurately reflects a character's awareness of a friendly. 5. Wait, you can't? You could before. And that was a very, very early version. 6. I wouldn't know. Enjoy the game, and thanks for your suggestions; just next time make sure nobody else has got there first.
  7. Soooo... you've pretty much summed up the reasons why the developers are developing NPCs for the game. You did know that they're developing them already, right? For quite some time too. If you want to know more, look up some of the older Mondoids or search in the forums. Glad to know you're enjoying the game though. Modding is already quite flexible, and will surely flourish even more as new features and elements are added in.
  8. And indeed you have! Much more appropriate than an in-game option, IMO...

  10. If there were so many options that it would be difficult to change them every time, this would have more merit. Otherwise I agree with Rathlord and Footmuffin.
  11. To be honest, I've never played Sid Mier's civil war games... shame on me. Blame my age and all that. But from what I've seen it looks to combine both TW and Sid's mechanics... the overall battle combined with formations and tactics.
  12. Welcome! Bad Doctah... BAD. Be nice to the newbies. If I had to learn, so will you. Just remember to make sure your suggestion hasn't been posted too many times before, is all.
  13. Ayiyi, this thread has been revived one too many times. If you have another idea you'd like to suggest (and make sure it hasn't already been suggested before via search), feel welcome to post another thread.
  14. What Aricane said, though I'd like to expand on the soundwave thing a little. I know it got brought up a little while back, and I'm pretty sure that the overall reaction was negative, but I still think it has merit. Not everyone has positional sound available through their sound setup (though I do), and hence, small 'waves' would surely be appropriate for events such as meta game gunshots or helicopters.
  15. I definitely approve this; it's something that could be expanded further in the future. Though I think current barricading sorta represents barricading both sides...?
  16. From what I've seen and heard on their forums, I think it's taking a dual approach. I admit that the only Darth mod I enjoy playing is the Empire one, since it's the most comprehensive and game-fixing. It gives it a whole new gameplay style that feels more fluid than vanilla. The problem with Total War is that it focuses way too much nowadays on the individual soldier, with their resources spent on flashy animations and textures. I think UG is meant to focus more specifically on the larger battle as a whole, with formations and terrain playing a much bigger role. TW is quite small scale if you think about it, considering what it actually depicts. The colours are somewhat cartoony, yes, but I'm sick and tired of high resolution grit games. Rome II did it for me. A common misconception with today's games is that we have super powered hardware, so let's take advantage of all of it. In poly counts. And textures. But that's not the case; I prefer looking at colourful games like Rome I and Shogun II over Rome II, for example. The colourful style of UG seems actually quite refreshing. Overall though, I'm not sure either TW or UG really depict that high detailed simulation. Go play HistWar's demo, and you'll see what I mean.
  17. ... but... dragons...
  18. Just in case you weren't aware of this awesomesauce, now you are. UG is looking to 'revolutionise' the strategy gaming front, and, well, just lookit them screenies. For a strategy gaming fan, especially one with historical interest, this thing looks incredible. A nice blend between colourful, inviting graphics and more detailed simulation of Civil War battles. A welcome break from the repetitious grind that has become of Total War. They recently went for green light on Steam, and I was going to hunt for votes, but they were lit just this morning. So now you just get to gape at the awesomeness that is Ultimate General. Oh yeah, and it's being developed by Darth, the guy behind the DarthMod series from Total War.
  19. Item bartering = king of trade.
  20. Dangit, I'm in the same boat. Hamachi is a no go for me as well.
  21. I'm going to go ahead and be the one who says; I can understand your point of view. Somebody that stopped playing and following the game for two years won't be able to immediately see the changes, since most of those changes have been 'under the hood' and not so much a visual element. That said, those changes have been pretty massive; for one, the game is now far more stable. There's a new map, revamped combat, zombie spawning, tweaks and bug fixes galore and... well... a lot. There's also a lot of work on game elements (such as NPCs) that simply haven't yet been included because they ain't finished.
  22. I've always thought Australia would be well suited to surviving the zombie apocalypse. Sure, the urban areas of the country (Eastern coast) wouldn't stand much of a chance, but for us living in rural South Australia... well... I really can't see zombie hordes successfully travelling the vast distances. Oh, and open field combat against zombies is obviously far safer and more effective if the military were to intervene.
  23. Now THAT is an interesting image... a guy sneaking through a zombie infested neighbourhood... while pushing his piano.
  24. I'm not entirely sure what 'caustic gas' is, but are absolutely 100% sure it's going to kill zombies? Sounds like something designed to destroy lungs, which of course zombies don't technically use. Indeed, not much less than completely destroying the brain can stop them, which would require a rather potent gas... if one even exists. I suppose the military could still try, though... since they don't know that...
