    1) Punchs barely do anything, scratches have a 36% chance to infect you, and bites have 98%
2)No skills can prevent scratches or bites, it just simply reduces the chance of getting one, and thick skinned reduces the chance of a scratch/bite breaking the skin and infecting you.

Actually, If I remember correctly, the lucky trait doesn't affect the chance of infection or getting scratches and bites, it actually changes the loot drop rate. For example, the chance of an axe being looted in the zombie you just killed is increased.

Oh wow. This is.... interesting. However I'd only be comfortable banning people from the multiplayer aspects of the game. I don't think even cheaters, as much as I might hate them, deserve to lose the entire game they paid for, I dunno.

I'm completely against stuff like tripping, passing out and other random stuff happing to a character when he\she is in perfect condition but I really don't understand this "Don't punish the player" thing.

In PZ the character can enter many states where doing things is ill advised, dumb and should be punished. Seriously, tell me that running with a broken leg is a good idea. Moving around a lot with stitches is a good idea. Running around the map when very tired is a good idea.

Without punishment there are also no rewards for doing things right. Why should I care if my charatcer has a broken leg, is overburdened and very tired if it has little effect on actual gameplay, if I can't fail because of things that should increase my chance of failure. Why should I pack a tent when going on a long scavenging trip if I know I won't pass out?

Having some forms of punishment for not properly taking care of the character would add a need to make plans, think about every action, stop from time to time and rest. It would make surviving much more rewarding in the long run, put an incentive on taking care of all those useless moodles we have.

And it's not artificial difficulty if the player through his own (in)actions ends up with an exhausted character in the middle of the forest, passes out and get's eaten by zombies, that's difficulty the player brought upon himself.

Not to mention the fact that currently the game doesn't really punish for anything at all, other than maybe opening a door to a bathroom.

I'd say the tripping should just be something like falling to your knee, and immediatly getting back up, not something like completely falling down.
Also, maybe only on very high panic levels, and when you are sprinting? Doesn't really make much sense if someone trips while walking, even if it's backwards. (especially considering that to walk backwards, the player has to enter a ''aiming'' state that slows down his speed)

I recall laughing at the incapabilities of strangers stumbling several times through out my life.  When not paying attention to where I'm placing my feet; even walking forward; there were moments (like a section of concrete on the sidewalk that is an inch taller than the other) where I've stumbled... not necessarily tripped and fell but had a temporary imbalance.  I've fell when running to catch a football only to have stepped on a sprinkler head and twist my ankle.  Watch a few episodes of Americas Funniest Home Videos, sometimes people fall from what appears to be no reason at all.  Sometimes the most capable people have misfortunate moments, which you can see by googling 'sports or gymnastics fails'.
When imagining a hypothetical situation of how balanced we would be if we were actually really dealing with a sudden zombie looming before us, most would like to assume they'd be that infaluable badass.  Most would not be.
In real life, people don't intend to trip... they don't control their falling down.  It happens unexpectedly and can happen at the most inappropriate times.

Personally, I would enjoy something like tripping.  Though there should be more combat mechanics added for prone fighting, like kicking and wrestling off unwated zombies.  (Would be pretty f'n cool to fall back on the ground, have a zombie fall on top of you... Then successfully wrestle the zombie so you're on top and stab a knife through it's skull.  Get back up on your feet and spin around to one stab kill the next closest approaching zombie before preparing to make another escape from the hoard.)  or (You open a door and a zombie lunges instantly, you step back and fall on your ass... So you kick and push the zombie back into the room it came, regain your footing to either shut the door and gtfo of there or ready your weapon as it lunges a second time.)

I'm all for adding shock value through a series of misfortunate events caused by a players lack of good judgement.  So long as you can fight for your life while in a prone position.

Will have to see it before I judge it completely, but generally speaking I am against taking control out of a player's hands, especially in a hardcore survival game. We'll see how it's implemented, though.

I used to hate the idea of tripping but as time's gone on I've started to see how it could benefits the game.

Firstly: if it's avoidable (i.e. it's not the random falling over that many people have suggested in the past), then I don't really have a problem with it because looking where one is going and managing one's panic should both be an important element of the game. If panic will causes problems then maybe people will start to care about it.

Secondly: it sounds as though it'll be a minor setback rather than a fall-on-your-arse-and-slowly-get-back-up type thing. The post talks about how survivors will be "scrambling along the floor trying to get back to their feet". To me this implies that survivors will stumble, possibly slow down a bit but keep moving fairly fast whilst trying to get back up at the same time. The zombies in this game don't even move very fast so if you get caught, even with stumbling, it's hardly the game's fault.

Finally: it would add to the whole living through a zombie film feel that it sounds as though NPCs will add. If you were running away from a horde (because you decided to make zombies into sprinters for some reason) and one of your mates stumbled and eaten that'd be cool because that's exactly the type of thing that happens to stir up drama in zombie films.

I've had a character survive a bite and a scratch.

It was on the multiplayer server I host for my son and I. No mods and no admin stuff.
My guy had the hypochondriac trait (bad idea, wouldn't pick that one again).. We were pretty well established; had a farm, guns, a good set of walls, and were out on a supply run at the shops along the Muldrough freeway. Everything was going good until my guy got tired while clearing a pack of zombs with the trusty fire axe.. I got grabbed, pulled into a big herd of zombs, and bitten. My son had been staying at range, picking off stragglers with his pistol. I told him over the teamspeak to just leave me and get back to base, thinking I was going to die immediately.
I managed to fight my way out of them somehow.. Thinking "what have I got to lose now?", I opted to try and kill off rest of the herd, getting scratched in the process. Once it was all over, I headed back to base to drop off my stuff. After getting everything put away, I told my son to come with me outside the walls and give my guy a merciful end with his pistol. He refused though, pointing out how much excess food and meds we had laying around. "Just try and live daddy!" he told me. I laughed and pointed out the chances of surviving both the bite and the scratch (good opportunity to teach some statistics!) but he insisted I not suicide. "Oh, alright" I conceded.

I figured I'd just patch my guy up, eat good for a few days, and see what happened. I told him to keep his gun ready, just in case I died and turned (is that mechanic in the game yet?). After day two or so, my son was mentioning that he had the 'anxious' moodle when I stood too close to him. "Well that's a bad sign" I thought.. My guys health was really starting to be a problem and I was hammering through our pain pills and food like crazy trying to keep him pain-free and well-fed. After day 3 or so, with a 'Fever' moodle staring me down, I decided it was a dumb idea to waste so many resources on such a hopeless endeavor and headed out of the base to go die on my own. He tagged along, I guess out of morbid curiosity.

    Here's where it gets weird:
I made my way down the street looking for some bleach to drink. Not finding anything in the nearby houses, I opted for the rotten food in the neighbors fridges. "Ummm.. Are you eating all that?" he said when he noticed the empty fridges.. "Hahaha.. Yeap!". I ate all sorts of stuff; moldy steaks, old cheese, putrid chicken, rotten fruit and veggies.. I thought for sure my guy would just drop dead after all that but he didn't! After cleaning out the fridge in the 3rd or 4th house, his fever moodle and pain went away!! After staring, bewildered, at the screen for a minute, I asked my son if I was still causing the 'anxous' moodle when I stood close to him. He told me I wasn't! I thought for sure my guy would get sick and die after a couple days from all the spoiled food but it never happened! We just sorta went about our regular routine after that and the character lived on with no issues what-so-ever!
He'd prod every once in a while about the incident though; "Hey daddy, there's a rotten steak in here.. Is your guy hungry?"

I'm betting it was some kind of bug, or it had something to do with that hypochondriac trait I had picked. I guess it could have been incredible luck; didn't get infected by the bite or the scratch, and managed to have no ill effects from all the spoiled food, and the 3 days of sickness was all in his head..? I have no idea.

“I’ve also just added sound effects, and if you think zombies are attracted to the noise of gunfire – wait and see how they react to a pipebomb! While I’m in there I’m also playing around with fire spread, so you don’t burn down a whole neighbourhood with a single Molotov. After a lot of talk with Twiggy we’ve also thought of a few more traps and devices that would be useful, so there might be a few more surprises.”
