Dragonbahn reacted to Svarog in Canned Food Distribution Fix
Long time ago I've reported it as a bug on the tracker, it never got fixed so I fixed it for myself, I decided to share this with others who might be interested.

The problem is this, Canned Food is not affected by Food Rarity setting in sandbox, it's affected by Misc Rarity. I like to play with high amount of misc items, tools, clothes etc. and with Very Rare food, I never could because I always ended up with a stockpile of canned goods. With this mod Canned goods are properly treated by the game as food items (Don't worry, you can't eat the can, you still need to open it). So if you want to play with Very Rare food but keep other settings above Very Rare you won't end up with a ton of canned goods, especially since we had a ton of new ones added in Build 31.

    Download: http://pz-mods.net/other/CannedFoodFix/

Warning: Load when starting a new game, don't use with your current saves, they might break! The game doesn't seem to like when item categories are changed from save to save very much and that's what this mod does.

Required Version: Project Zomboid Early Access Build 31.13

Compatible With: Project Zomboid Early Access IWBUMS Build 32

EDIT: All of my smaller mods can be found in this thread, leave feedback there.

Dragonbahn reacted to juto in hard-coded models and textures
Hello! i have been modding the game and making models for new weapons and clothing, the problem is that we can't load new model or textures so i have to remplace the vanilla ones for the new (i remplace in items.txt the sprites of golf club, spiked baseball bat, poll cue etc.. for the baseballbat so i have some "free" models to use mines by sacrificing those)

My suggestion is to change that kind of coding to be able to load all models that we have in the folder media/model and the same goes for textures.

I think this woul increase the amont of mods (that devs would be able to use for future items, just like erosion mod) something that i personally loves.

I dont know if this is a very hard work for devs... becouse it could be necesary a big change in the code structure.

A less difficult solution could be introducing some empty files that the game load like 1.txt, 2.txt etc... for models and 1.png 2.png... for textures that allow us to load some stuff for our mods

I really like this game and has a very good inmersion but sometimes i feel like having more variety of weapons and vanity items would be much more inmersive. Please consider it for the next build. It will be awsome and a lot of players modders and not modders will apreciate it.

Dragonbahn reacted to CzarUltra in found a bug I guess... also... retry a challenge?
Ok, so I've been addicted to the newest challenge, and <spoilers> I die </spoilers> very quickly. For some reason I noticed, I can't start a new one without it not loading the challenge properly (there's no fire, it's during daytime, I have no sick or injured moodles) so I have to delete the old save even though I did create a new one-- so that's a bug I think. I have to delete both files after making a charachter for nothing and then make another charachter again. It's so tedious now with the updated traits (not that I'm complaining, I love  it) BUT my suggestion would be, that there's an option to retry (only in challenge mode) if you die using the same character? that'd save a lot of time from having to enter in traits and stuff.

Wood burning stoves (like the cabin on the lake in WP) should be craftable and not require electricity. Basically, an indoor campfire that won't burn your house down. I'd also like to see a "boxer" and "martial artist" traits which would replace the push animation if chosen. Boxer's could get a short range, powerful punch maybe even a one-two combo if you press it twice and martial artists could get a longer range kick, which deals more damage. Thoughts?
EDIT: Disregard the stoves. I apparently didn't go through enough pages to see it's been suggested already.

It's already functioning like that with the numbers of how much you can carry before getting encumbered. Bags make it easier to carry stuff but when you fill a bag to the brim you get encumbered. This is kind of already in the game.

Dragonbahn reacted to SomeRandomGuy in Overweight, Obese, and stamina
So I got to thinking after switching from my overweight character to my athletic character and noticing that the only difference is the overweight guy gets tired faster.....this is actually not very realistic. One of my best friends is overweight (beer gut and everything) but he plays sports and is active so he has more stamina than I do. I'm more agile and can run faster than him because I'm lighter, but I'm not that active so I don't have a lot of stamina. He's fit but overweight, I'm normal weight but unfit.

What would be more realistic is if overweight gave a penalty to run speed, but stamina was dependant soley on fitness.

Obese, yes, you only get that way by being overweight and unfit so it should have it's current massive stamina penalty as well as slower run speed.

I'd suggest a new trait, "unfit", to do what overweight currently does with having a fitness penalty, and give overweight a run speed penalty but otherwise have normal fitness. Obese would essentially be the combination of the two with an even bigger penalty to both.

Dragonbahn reacted to TIC321 in Suggestions around NPC/Occupations
Hey guys, TIC here! This is my first and official post to the forums as I am fairly new to these parts of Project Zomboid. I mainly take part on ideas for DayZ and most of them have been implemented and I feel I shall do the same to increase the fun value of the games I truly enjoy and make it enjoyable for everyone else too!

For it being my first post, I made sure it follows up with the criteria.

Now enough about me, let's continue onto this great project of a game.

This idea is mainly based in Single Player/Co-Op, possibility of expanding to multiplayer is highly recommended at the start of the server that involve NPC's.

Spawning in buildings based on occupation(chance based)

Whether your character is either at home at the time a zombie apocalypse has started or was doing their daily grind at their jobs, I believe having a chance of randomly spawning to either your workplace or your home would be great. From what I noticed, when you pick Chef, you spawn in a restaurant.

Spawning at your workplace would bring the possibility of adding NPC co-workers in the future, which means either you or someone else would be the group leader and you can choose to stay, slay or leave them behind. A possibility of one of your co-workers eventually becoming insane if things go downhill. Would create some authenticity and a backstory of your character. Spawning at home would also have a chance of your loved one being at your home at the time of the apocalypse occurring as well. Would greatly add into roleplay values, uniforms according to your occupation would be required. (Except unemployed) Here are some examples of occupations would lead you to spawn to these locations.. Typically the name implies of what locations would be desired.

    NPC ideas

Along with what I've said above about how some NPC's would eventually become insane when things start to go downhill, each NPC should have their own traits that would reflect upon them like how your own character does. All things listed is heavily based on what traits they have.

Most survivors at the initial apocalypse will often head to combat to fend themselves off from the zombie threat without the knowledge of how powerful zombies can be as a group so zombies roaming around the map in response to gunfire or shrieks of pain will become more an occurrence through the beginning of the apocalypse, slowly decreasing overtime.

Example: 60% decrease around 3 days to 1 week and slowly climbs to a decrease throughout the time as they become more aware of the situation.

You should be given choices on how you may converse with other survivors, something relevant to most RPG's. Example: (click here) When panicked during combat, they may retreat to go venture on their own if overwhelmed. An organized group of survivors will eventually gain the confidence to control the zombie threat. Survivors would need to require books to read to gain the knowledge to do things that are new to them that don't surround their occupation. Some survivors will prove their helpfulness or a big threat to the group entirely, depending on how they are treated. Depending on the duration of the occurrence of the zombie apocalypse, survivors will have a higher risk of dying from a zombie or new threats as they aren't accustomed to this new lifestyle of survival-ism which will mean they'll take different approaches such as becoming one of these different attitudes on means of survival: Psychopath, coward(initial apocalypse mainly), team player and such. Some survivors will remain in their homes as they believe that is the safest. Some zombies will become attracted to their presence and you could potentially save them and recruit them on your own to increase survival.
Feel free to share your thoughts/ideas and more here! This will be modified.

Dragonbahn reacted to Mrxbath in All books should function as skill books
I was bored in my safehouse, and on the verge of depressed. I then read 4 books in about 1 minute, and my character was just fine.

Maybe all books should have a set amount of pages, and it takes a much longer time to read them (like skill books), but instead of boosting your XP multiplier, it reduces your boredom and unhappiness.

It would have a set amount of pages (i.e. Magazines have 30 pages, newspapers have 20, books have 200.) So for example you could have one book that you've been reading for awhile, but haven't had a chance to finish so you read it in your spare time instead of reading 4 books in one sit-down like in the current game.

Just though this would add to the immersion factor a bit! Then maybe when you're done with a book it's benefits are cut in half for you because you've already read it, instead of just disappearing as if you burned it.

This is a simple mod to censor the blood and gore in PZ. I figured I can't be the only one who needs this so here it is!

NOTE: This does NOT put any savefiles or mods to danger. This is just a texturepack which means that it does not remove any blood sprites, it makes them transparent. This does not reduce lag in any way.

    Features
    Full censor
    - Takes away all gore
    - Gibs, splatter and bloody textures already existent in the map

    Partial censor
    - Takes away the worst gore
    - Doesn't delete gibs
    - Leaves textures in the map and low visibility splatters from zombie kills
    How to install
    Windows
    1. Unzip the tiles.zip
    2. Press "Start" and search "run"
    3. Open the program and write %appdata%
    4. Press Steam/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/media/texturepacks
    5. Make a backup of the pre-existing tiles.pack (Its needed to uninstall without steam)
    6. Put in the modded tiles.pack and exit the window

Dragonbahn reacted to Body Builder in Two New food Recipes: "Pasta" and "Milk + cereals"
Hi community of Pz! I have a suggestion about three food's recipes.
First, i know that the staff and all developers of Pz are busy with many great and important game features, so my suggestion is secondary.
You know that I am italian (eheh) and in the game i have noticed that there isn't a super delicious (very italian) food,"PASTA"!!!
    My idea is this:

    1) New food: Raw Pasta   (the problem is that there isn't a texture for the "Pasta")
        - Two kind of recipes with pasta (famous in all world, not only in Italy)
    2) New Recipe with the classic Milk and cereals

    Two important notes:
    - Pasta is highly energetic and calorie food!!!! (extremely)
    - Milk and cereals is really good, but not as pasta.

    Here the example:

I hope that my idea is to your liking thank you for your attention and patience

It's just a idea, feel free to be mean and tell me my idea is stupid or anything

Anything that I can put my weight on would work. Maybe like the 'Sturdy Stick' we already have in game

We can already equip the 'Sturdy Stick' in our hands, we have icons for them, just need a few animations to show our characters using them.

Sure, its not that important, but for those who support the realism perspective of the game, realistically we'd all use some sort of weight supporting device if we fractured a leg/foot.

Maybe find a rare wheelchair if we really want to get into it .

I've built a tool to easily unpack and manage all the textures in Zomboid's .pack files.

First, I am fully aware of Minic90's program for doing this, and have tried it out. I built my own in part because I really enjoy making small tools like this and in part because I found his had some problems I really wanted to fix.

This tool has the same basic features his does.

    Features:

    1. Unpack - unpack the texture maps into a separate folder.
    2. Pack - pack the unpacked texture maps back into a .pack file.
    3. Split - split the unpacked texture maps into their individual textures for easier editing.
    4. Merge - merge the split textures back into a texture map.

It does not support splitting or merging the .dds files found in Character.pack. I don't think I can ever support that because of the extra data a .dds file contains, but I'm open to feedback from anyone that might know of a way.

The project is available on GitHub: https://github.com/cdaragorn/ProjectZomboidPackManager

You can download a Windows build here: https://github.com/cdaragorn/ProjectZomboidPackManager/releases

The project is built in Qt, so you should be able to build it in any OS you want pretty easily.

Please let me know what you think. I'm also interested in any ideas for more features you think would be useful with it. Thanks!
