I bought a copy for myself and two more for others, and mention it whenever people start asking for game suggestions and other stuff on forums. They get a little more money and the community gets more players, everyone wins. Do your part in spreading word about the game and be sure people know it's a WIP - but it is not a dead early access game like so many others.
 

The game is awesome in the form that it's in now. I already feel like i have gotten my money's worth.

Didn't one of the Devs have like 5 different animal mascots that eventually turned into Spiffo? You can see them on the PAWS movie poster.

So, this is either gonna sound really cool or really stupid. 
 
You know how certain fast food chains have costumed mascots to advertise their products? Like the Chik-Fil-A Cow, or Ronald McDonald, etcetera? Well, one would think that with a chain like Spiffo's being popular enough to warrant its own feature-length film, it would stand to reason that the restaurants would have a Spiffo suit lying around for some hapless employee to climb into and sweat his balls off while holding a picture of chicken and waffles on the side of the highway. 
 
Thus, I suggest a Spiffo mascot outfit as form of clothing/armor (at least, for when the animation update finally drops). I know what you're thinking: a mascot costume as armor? Is that realistic or practical? Well, yes and no. I used to be a college mascot, and let me tell you, the fur on that costume was THICK. It wouldn't be easy to bite through that, especially if the person wearing the suit was resisting and fighting back. Plus the mascot head would have full protection at the cost of limited visibility. With that in mind, a thick, fluffy Spiffo suit could protect against bites and scratches on the arms, legs, and torso, as well as pretty much negating all damage to the head and neck area. 
 
The downside would be the heat. Again, from experience, I can tell you that it gets REALLY hot in those things. I've even passed out on one occasion from the heat. Thus the character wearing the suit would be much more susceptible to overheating and thirst. Plus you can't easily drink water while wearing the mascot head, so you'd have to remove it in order to drink from a bottle or water source. 
 
I dunno. I just think it'd be both hilarious and badass to slaughter zombies across Kentucky while dressed as an adorable raccoon. Spiffo IS the official mascot of both PZ and Indie Stone, after all. Why not take that to a whole new level? 

1. You can hear cars for miles in reality. Ever been out to the country on a quiet night, or walk a hiking trail 6-7 km from a road way? You hear them. They're quite loud.
 
Your test just seems to indicate you don't know how to use a gun to distract zombies to loot . . . If the same logic is being applied to cars, I can see why you're having problems. I'll try and make a video for you later, using vehicles, if you want. Last one got eaten by that crash on quit.

2.  Either TIS needs to fix performance if they want this level of attraction, or they need to turn it down. The current build isn't indicative of performance.  You have the option of sandbox and turning down zombie hearing .etc if your computer can't keep up; that's not going away.

3. Attracting zombies via guns is the point. They're partially an idiot trap, as explained.
 
The issue of luring zombies out of a city is going to happen at all sound levels, aside from silence. You're the only game in town.

Maybe it's just me that has not seen erosion working for long enough, but does tiles that have had the dirt removed eventualy regrow grass?  If not, I'd like to add that to your suggestion that I like.
 
Since the dirt was removed, I'd suggest a 2 step erosion process : first the dirt is restored (and can be taken again), then the grass regrow.
 
In your suggestion case, I think a 1 step erosion should be ok since the dirt was not removed.

You haven't played the public test build? You can sleep in your car!
As for the wide open fields, I hope they implement slower travel over dirt and grass for sedans, and allow trucks to continue at a normal speed.
 
 
I wouldn't say "easier"... Those things attract zombies like crazy. However, it will be more beneficial in some ways than walking!
 
 
Omg you guys haven't played the public test build, have you?! The trunk weight is 200 in sedans! Yes, over 10 times that of your average bag! I haven't tried the vans or trucks, so I don't know if they're larger or not. Though everything in the test build is subject to change.  

With the public release of the Vehicles tech test build, I've become pretty excited about the near future of Zomboid. I was staring at the game map thinking about new places to play and how the vehicles will affect my playstyle... when I came across the mall. Then I started thinking:
 
What if I pulled up to the mall in MP with a squad of peeps and had them on an assembly line carting things to our squad of cars?
Cars attract an unholy amount of zombies from even just a little bit of movement, what if I had one of my squad mates run to the other side of the mall and fire off a gun to make looting easier?
or...
Oh my god, the hallways in the mall are wide as crap... What if I broke 4 walls into one side of the mall with a sledgehammer and actually pulled the car in and had squad members ducking into stores and throwing things in the trunk? There are a lot of zombies around the mall, so how fun would that be to be desperately filling the trunk of the car before it's too late, and then making a daring near-death escape with all of the loot? 
 
So much fun to be had in just this one area. How do you think Vehicles will change your playstyle? What new experiences do you think you will have? I'm interested in knowing.

Cars can also act as barriers for zombies.
 
Much better than log walls, ignoring the dropping from the sky on re-load.

I once thought I wanted to play with other people, even RP maybe. ND was the clear choice.  But after writing up a great character, falling in love with the idea and then signing up on the website I was discouraged by the huge amount of (to me) arbitrary rules and that the lore was different from the SP game. I really like the lore of the game as it stands, so I didn't join. Boy howdy, am I glad. I would have had a terrible time, it sounds like.
