Some Clever Username reacted to Packbat in Dogs and Cats
...you know, this thread is making me want the devs to add horses solely because so many survivors would move heaven and earth to protect them.
Not sarcasm: that seems really sweet.

Maybe the escaped horses would come together and make a herd
Yes i know that it would probaly not happen

Some Clever Username reacted to Aardman55 in Dogs and Cats
The only animal i wouldn't eat would be a german shepherd. Damn I love these dogs.
Maybe if I'd see a stray cat id just let it run off. But if I'm hungry...
*Dayum cats and dogs are DELICIOUS.*
No honestly, if you were desperate, would you not kill a cat and dog to eat em?
I seriously hope this thread isn't only about pets right now lol.

horses would not survive without people?
guys, we still, to this day, have herds of wild horses roaming areas of America and thriving without any human contact.
as skittish as horses are, no zombie would EVER get close enough to them to do any damage.

Yeah, horses really would not survive at all if not for people. Though while still healthy they could easily outrun zombies.
The image of my character walking down a country road with rifle in hand then see a horse charge across the road with zombies in tow would be frickin sweet.

I can see a cat now.
"oh, you are trying to hide from zombies? So, I shouldn't have lead them here then...?"
EDIT:
Then Benny Hill music plays as I chase the cat around the base with a broom while zombies chase me.

Yeah, I actually got some gummy vitamins once and they tasted pretty damn good! I ate them all in one day, dumbass. XD
This would be the downfall to my character.

So, got another thought, if dogs are supposed to be introduced, why not cats?
As many cat owners know the "thrill" of waking up in the morning to a gift mouse or rat, why not use it for its literal intent? In the event of an apocalypse with imminent doom around every corner and a less than empty fridge, a gift from ones pet cat could benefit both parties.
Another thing that cats would be good for is attacking mice or rats looking for a quick meal on the players food reserves.
The fact that cats tend to be more independent plays into the players advantage too based on minimal care requirements, but a good rub or cuddle could also help depression and boredom, especially the companion factor if live survivors are nowhere in sight.
Sorry for the long post but it seemed relevant to post.

Some Clever Username reacted to ORMtnMan in Stop making me automatically drink my water!
So, as the topic says I don't think it makes sense...
I am jogging around fighting zombies, yet somehow while doing other things I am able to drink from a water bottle as if it is a camel back... Yet, the same does not apply to soda... this does not make sense...
For realism we should drink from the bottle like a soda (you can keep the water units system I.E. don't drain the whole bottle at once). Whereas if you have a camelback it will automatically hydrate you.
Anyway, bit of a rant there... I am sure this could be modded, it just seems a bit hokey to me when I am running around.
EDIT: Plus, it doesn't allow me to plan water usage like I'd want to.

Yeah, that's the bad part but in multilayer I don't really care about those guys because it's kind of realistic for jerks to be out killing people in a zombie apocalypses...

NPCs are going to be awesome!

Some Clever Username reacted to ORMtnMan in Zombie Distraction Techniques
Very good point, I know I would be using it to kill NPCs I don't like...
"Oh you want to horde the grocery store to yourself with all your guns? Okay then" *Noise machine thrown*

I didn't see this in the common suggestions, though I would surprised if it has never been suggested... but here goes.
Zombies are attracted by noise, we all know this.
We can lure zombies to us by making noise, why not lure them away with the same concept.
The easiest concept would be throwing a rock away into the bushes to draw the zombies over there. (You see that in all kinds of movies)
The more ingenious ones would be noise making toys or bomb traps (though we could skip that one if it is too OP (which it probably is))
This could also lead to some crafting to tin cans with pebbles or some sort of alarm clock throwable, etc.
Make sense?
EDIT: Or if we go ALL kinds of crazy with this we could have remote activated noise makers to draw zombies to a target were we could pick them off from a high vantage point with a hunting rifle.

Nasko and myself said this to RJ a while back, not too sure if anything came of it though. I do agree with you though, the difficulty for weapons can feel a bit comical at times.
Sorry RJ, still love you. <3

Some Clever Username reacted to Kajin in Auto Save, please...
This is a game where death is inevitable. Where one tiny mistake like accidentally tripping out of a window can end it all. Being able to just reload a save back to a point before you died would go against the entire point of the game.

Some Clever Username reacted to FawkesGaming in Auto Save, please...
Are you sure it was accidental, and your character just saw an opportunity to jump... ending his miserable existence in the apocalypse?

Some Clever Username reacted to Deadend in How about some Idle animations?
sounds neat. First thing that came to mind were the sims from EA. Though considering how tight up the developers are with the resources at their disposal, something like this will most likely (if at all) be added when the game is in beta or close to a final release (1.0) as a part of a final touch-up.
It would be pretty dissapointing to see them put effort into making something like this this early on without more enticing animations/graphics first (e.g. seeing backpack on character, more customization (hats, bandanas, jackets, t-shirts), sneaking, animations for all weapon types; animations for looking through inventory, construction, crafting, cooking, foraging, looting, fridges(cabinets/drawers/closets/desks) opening animations).

After reading this: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/11173-unknown-death-when-i-was-foraging-in-west-point/
I think our characters should scream when bitten. Like above them it just says AHHHHH or somethin and that makes noise to bring zombies over. Just a quick suggestion.
