Payday 2. Didn't buy it. They'd changed the game in all the wrong ways, imo.

I have it, and you are so right. The game is no fun until you get crazy-tough armor, and even then, they nerfed the better armor in a recent patch. It's like they don't want you to go nuts anymore.

Payday 2 is another disappointment for me. Don't even play it anymore. I think the main thing that does it for me is the repetitiveness of the gameplay that isn't fun and the sheer lack of maps.

I am quite amused however that I unlocked the Alienware mask on my first game which I believe is supposed to be some super rare mask...

The only game I've bought at the beginning of this year that I've hated is Battlefield 3. I realise this was released in 2011, which goes to show how behind on games I am these days :/ But seriously, I played it for a while and realised that was just getting angry, frustrated or bored, and that there was no point in forcing myself to play it.

Otherwise, I've haven't bought much this year, and they've only be indie or old titles I've wanted to replay... Like Magic Carpet and Final Fantasy :D

Do you have an alienware PC? ^n^

Nope.

Wouldn't throw my money away like that.

GTA V on PC.

I'm already calling it, it's gonna be another shitty port for pc.

I don't have any game disappointments... Only disappointment of 2013 for me is my life.

Why so glum, chum?

Maybe you've got some specific files on your computer - I remember to get the alienware mask on the original Payday you had to download some .dll files related to the way the computer changes colour, I think.

Lol, Rome II total war was the first total war game I ever pre-ordered, and likely the last one...

I thought it was going to be so awesome and super, I mean they showed video's of the "INGAME-AI", how just how could this happen?

Step 1 - Hire a marketing guru that doesn't mind telling blatant lies

Step 2 - Don't bother to hire a new AI programmer. Instead, use the same no-talent bullshitter. Have him spread his lies through vlogs

Step 3 - Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing Clever Marketing

Step 4 - Profit

Step 2 - Don't bother to hire a new AI programmer

I recall reading the person who did most of the original AI work left after M2TW and they've had a hard time modifying and improving the core AI stuff since. Anecdotally I haven't noticed the battle mode AI getting any smarter after M2TW, and in the case of the AI being woefully underequipped for dealing with all the new stuff in Empire, it actually got worse.

The guy from Darthmod made Empire's AI quiet good, it actually put up a fight most of the time...

SimCity the combination of being a big-budget production, a famous and well loved title and developer, and tons and tons of hype piled sky high make this the biggest failure of the twenty-first century to date.

Maxis was just handed its AARP card and told to stop pretending they're still relevant. They're now playing church bingo with ID Software complaining about how they can't find a Blockbuster to rent games anymore.

The same would be said of a lot of EA titles, although EA itself seems to have a fairly large reserve of Viagra. Stop reading for the faint of heart, but EA's still pounding out old games for a young crowd like Hugh Heffner. Hate to say it, but it's not a new game if its an old game with a bigger number on it =/

The Xcom DLC for not coming out sooner.

Oh lordie, THIS. I pre-ordered Enemy Unknown back when it came out, and goddamn did I ever get the wigglies waiting for it to unlock on Steam. Now it's the same thing all over again with Enemy Within! I want it nao!

As far as (somewhat more legitimate) disappointments in games go for 2013? Not really much from me. Haven't really bought many games this year. The biggest disappointment for me thus far is the difficulty I'm having getting my friends to play Wargame: AirLand Battle. It's a damned good RTS, but it really, really starts to shine when you're playing co-op with buddies on voice chat.

Well, I can now add ArmA 3 onto that list.

After trying out the first part mission of what is no doubt going to be a very short lackluster campaign, I think ArmA 3 is shaping up to be a mainstream mess.

Such a shame, hopefully the community can save this doomed franchise.

to be disappointed of because my expectations weren't reached is not the way i'm doing - but if i had to chose

sim city

for beeing such ill-conceived and not tested

x-com: eu

for beeing such limited

i'm more disappointed about the quality games get because of the never-ending clash of the systems. too many good pc games get limited because they were ported for xbox or playstation. i hope this will be better with the architecture of the "next-gen" consoles.

Just to stick 2 fingers up at all of you knocking Rome 2, its probably the closest to the original Rome/early series games than any since Empire so not something to really be sniffed at.... yes yes problems..ai oh the horror.. errmm the ENTIRE franchise has suffered from that & to some extent worse than this so nothing new.

Also lets add the money grabbing Sega into the mix, have we seen something similar to this earlier this year? oh yeah Aliens Colonial Marines..(Sure Gearbox as well) but Sega have their hands firmly in CA's pocket & are pulling a lot of strings there no doubt, including false advertising & in my own opinion are responsible for the DLC frenzy TW games have become.

I wouldnt be surprised that the game WAS in a far better state at some stage but them being forced to pull parts out for dlc an then patching it back for release. Just a thought..

Anyways..

We just live in an age where people fart and move on so quickly that nobody stands a chance anymore, the audience so fickle that 1 misplaced comment is unforgiveable. Gamers just need to relax, is Rome 2 perfect? No.. but is it fun?. yep so thats mission accomplished then unless your looking for something else? & if you say Crusader Kings 2 then if your looking for a medieval marriage simulator then why play TW games anyway:/

As for disappointing ive gotta say Dead Island Riptide as the biggest pile of doo this year..buggy (yes worse than Rome 2) short (less than half the size of the orig) a real mess of a release and none of the after sales comms that CA provided.

Deep Silver tsk tsk..

Arma though, has really been a community game and only got very popular after the creation of dayz. I think with modding, the community will help this out quite a lot. It's a simulator and they aren't for the average gamer.

ATM, my biggest disappointment is the BF4 PC release, server crashes, bugs, and glitches galore. Hope it's fixed soon, like playing it with my brother across the country.

Naturally. I've been playing ArmA since the first one, and before that OFP. However ArmA 3 is very much a mainstream game now and less a community one, as was the case with the first and second. Double-edge sword that is DayZ, and thus the direction that ArmA 3 is going is what I'm worried about.

Will take some serious doing by the community to turn it around.
