This is when games get too micromanage-y. There has to be limits to the complexity, and this is one of them. In terms of cosmetics, it would be fine like the makeup we have. Like adding scars to your character in character creation. Making an entire system around acne it is a bit much.

We will be adding NPCs in the future, however they won't be static like this or vendors like other games.

They are extensively talked about in detail in these two blog posts:

You'll still be waiting for a while yet, so I wouldn't be expecting this anytime soon considering we're not even in public testing for Build 42 yet, but the plans haven't changed.

Kids are a lot more work than people realize
All the work you do with adults you have to redo it with kids

You can't just make a normal human smaller - it will look very weird
Which means redoing all the animations, textures, models, sounds
Redoing the attack animations of animals and creatures on kids

Basically it adds very little value, but a lot of work.

For future reference - it's always best to assume that anything shown in the blogs are just development previews cherry-picked to showcase upcoming features, not indicate the state of overall playability and completeness. There's still a lot of things to be ironed out so until the blogs are outright stating that Build 42 is around the corner it's best to assume they aren't.

The intention is to add these eventually, likely alongside the animations for opening hoods/trunks and doors of cars.

In Build 42 there should hopefully be a significant improvement to the general optimization of the game.
    https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2022/02/42-techdoid/

However it's still worth bearing in mind, there's a limit to how much things can be optimized, but we will see how it goes. The general optimization should by consequence affect large groups of zombies too.

Assuming you're on Steam: If you right click 'Project Zomboid' in your library, click 'properties', click 'betas' and select the dropdown menu we have older versions available to download for people who don't meet the current requirements. Build 38 up to 40 should run for you.

That's a good point. If the whole "bones showing after being eaten" is going to be a thing, the zombies would have eaten a lot of the character already. It may look more gory and horrifying to actually hear your character screaming while they're being eaten and torn to shreds, and not coming back.

Maybe they could come back more visibly damaged if it's only a few zombies, however it would make more sense of them coming back after being bitten and escaping and turning over time like you're saying. The "upper limit" could be used to determine if that character has a chance to come back mildly damaged, or if they're absolutely destroyed and mangled to pieces.

It really doesn't fit the game to have static vendors selling items. NPCs are supposed to be roaming, like the player trying to survive. It'd really take away from the experience to have them just do nothing, especially after all these years. Lore wise and logically the story makes no sense to have these types of 'NPCs' in the game.

Instead they're going to be more intelligent, dynamic and interesting than static vendors, thankfully.

Seems a bit of a reach. Most people (if not everyone) have the muscle memory to open a door but zombies in game still bash on the doors trying to get in.

This is the reason why they are working on adding living NPCs to the game who would actually have the motor skills and "brains"  to shoot the player. A shambling zombie shooting at me would absolutely break the immersion - even if its a hardcore army vet zombie. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense in this setting.

This is already a thing, though? Maybe you're playing on Build 40 so you're on a very outdated version.

Before posting a duplicate report, please use the search function to see if another member has already posted a topic about the same issue. Duplicating an issue will not speed up the process of fixing it but only clog the system.

If you are having crashing issues, please use the support section of the forum.

If you CANNOT reproduce the issue with NO MODS enabled, it is likely a MOD SPECIFIC issue which we cannot provide support for.

If it is a MAP issue, providing coordinates will save us an extraordinary amount of time.

    MAP COORDINATES EXAMPLE:
Map Coordinates: 10627x9657x0 (attach screenshots here) Where '0' is the level, e.g "0" being ground floor "1" being a floor above etc...

To get these coordinates, open Project Zomboid in debug mode by right clicking it in Steam, selecting "Properties" and typing this in the "General" section:

In-game, while at the location of the issue, right click the ground, select "Teleport" and the coordinates will be displayed.

If a question doesn't apply to you, e.g "Host or dedicated" you may leave it blank or add "N/A".

The general format of your bug report should follow this, and include all of these details. If you have a screenshot and/or video as well it can be incredibly useful.

Please also attach your 'Logs.zip' file, with the report.

    Windows Location: Users\YourName\Zomboid\Logs.zip
    Linux/Mac Location: Home\Zomboid\Logs.zip

This is the formatting to use for future reports:

    TITLE FORMATTING EXAMPLE:
[41.61] [Multiplayer] Invisible zombie. POST FORMATTING EXAMPLE:
    • Version? • Singleplayer/Multiplayer?  • Host or dedicated?  • Mods?  • Old or new save? • Reproduction steps: • 41.60 • Multiplayer. • Host. • No. • Still occurs on new save • Reproduction steps:          1. Start game in Apocalypse mode.          2. Attack a zombie with frying pan.          3. Press shift, zombie will become invisible.

Man I'm gonna ask you to calm down with people opposing your posts, you get very aggravated when someone has anything contrarian to say, and it's not a nice attitude to have.

The dude's being considerate to people who can be affected by these things, which is a lot. Gore isn't the same as something that can happen and affect people pretty commonly nowadays, because gore is over the top so having a warning is almost a guarantee.

Yes I do remember suggesting something like this a while back, but I think to do it effectively (at least in the way I imagine it) it'd be more complex than is currently possible. Don't think it's something that is too far for the game, and it'd be nice to have it be a rare event.

Gun suicide I know is at least planned at some point, the animations are there already.

MadDan got a reaction from gabriel rodrigues brandao in AIR DROP
My mind is very open, actually, if we're going to be this way. But this game doesn't share anything with something like 7DTD whatsoever. I'm not sure why you'd call this a masterpiece but then suggest something that would make it generic. The helicopter is supposed to be either military or news, and they've more than planned ahead for how it'll affect the game in the future. The helicopter isn't there to save you.

Perhaps we got mixed up a bit in thought. It's just defeating the point of the game, which is depressing apocalypse, no hope, death, failure, misery are the only end. I agree that it's a masterpiece and nothing in the almost 10 years it's been out has even come close to this game.

100% not going to be a mechanic calling in airdrops like CoD or something. With NPCs it'll be refined probably lore/story wise but definitely not like this.

MadDan reacted to nasKo in "Alarm" from police car triggers DMCA copyright strike on Twitch/YouTube
This is a regularly occurring issue on Twitch, not just with PZ but other games too. Sometimes it's copyright trolls who provide sounds that would regularly occur anywhere on Youtube, or Twitch (often in games), gaming automated content matching systems that would pick sounds that are "close enough" as matches.

There is not really anything we can do about it, as we have all the required licenses.
Content creators would have to push back in instances like this, citing TIS as having the relevant licenses and remove the mute or any sort of copyright infringement "count" that might come with it.
Twitch has a form you can use to appeal muted audio:
    https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/how-to-appeal-flagged-content?language=en_US

A streamer safe option is not in the cards for this, this isn't music being falsely flagged, it's a police siren sound that we have all the required licenses for as well.

While I agree that this would be a useful tool, especially for modders, I don't believe it's reasonable to ask the devs to do this. Personally, I would rather they focus their efforts on the game itself. Something like this would surely take time to code, test, bug fix and eventually go pubic. All the while pulling people away from doing other things, like the npc system. I think this is a good idea, but one that should be in the hands of the modding community. Although if there are devs that officially work on modding support, this is definitely something that they should think about.
