  1. Please move - cant post in suggestions Defcon is a game by introversion (the guys who did prison architect). Players participate in cold war-like nuclear warfare on a risk-like map of the world. As time goes on the defcon level moves from 5 to 1 where different global rights become available. Players can adjust the game speed where the minimum speed between players is current game speed. So if Player 1 has speed set to 2x and Player 2 4x - the time will only go up to 4x when both players set speed to 4x. Vice versa - time will go back down as soon as any player lowers their setting. Two suggestions 1: as explained above everyone can "vote" are current game speed which will jump up and down based on common player setting within server 2: for a sleeping solution a player can indicate "ready to sleep / X hours" (admin can choose whether or not this shows up globally) where no one sleeps until everyone sleeps. as soon as one person wakes up so must everyone else fully rested or not. obviously there are challenges and drawbacks that arise in various settings might be something to consider nonetheless sorry for long post, wrong section, poor formatting cheers! Bensk
  2. I've been attempting to get a basic server running for about 5 hours now. I've tried using the in game hosting option and inviting another player to join me (I've also had the player in question try to click on my username and join me that way). However, they are unable to do so even after I send an invitation. The server, among other things, kicked her out due to "files not matching the server's [settings/files/something]" So there's that faint glimmer of hope right before being kicked in the balls. So here's my question guys. Can you guys end my nightmare? Can you show me how to use the Project Zomboid game through the Host option to actually start a server where other players can join. The Host option in game, I would imagine, was put there to make things easier and not horribly frustrating. To add insult to injury, the player trying to join my server is connected to my Wi-Fi which should in theory make the process easier as we're on the exact same network. If I had hair to pull out, I would have been pulling it out the past 4 hours. No tutorials or guides have worked and most content I find is from 2014 or 2015 which does not help me in 2016 running version 34.28 I've tried making it public, removing passwords, everything. My firewall indicates that the 16261 port is in fact open. While my Xfinity account is actually preventing me from opening that port because... screw my life I guess. So can anyone, please, please, please, tell me how to simply Host a server using the Project Zomboid game's Host option. I imagine it was put there to make things easy but it's been nothing but four hour headache and a waste of money for the other player who purchased the game exclusively to play with me Co-Op/Server. Thank you so much in advance. I love this game and it kills me that I can't enjoy it with my friends. Warmest Regards Sean / Flaros
  3. Hey! I'm working on social game called Project Lounge. It's currently on Greenlight and I'd love you to check on it and give your opinions and thoughts! Greenlight Page About Game: Project Lounge is a 3D social game that encourages to meet new people. Action takes place in enviroments called Properties which are managed by their owners. Owner of Property is able to spawn various objects that players can interact with: carry, throw and rotate them without any restrictions. Some objects will have special interactions, such as radio, jukebox or drawboard for drawing something they'd like.
  4. So I booted up the game today after months and months of waiting. There is a host option now in the main menu (34.27 Version) Steam. Can I now just host from the game instead of running my own server? I can invite friends from the hosted game? Do my friends need to have anything set in particular on their side (Ports, etc? ) TCO
  5. Hey there PZ-Community, I absolutely love the new paradoxe game and if you haven´t picked it up yet I strongly suggest you doing it ( even though it has a rough start with all its complexity) So for the people who already own the game- would you be interested in a multiplayer session with people of the PZ-Community ? Because from my experience with CK2, paradoxe games are even more fun when you play them in multiplayer. It would be amazing if we would find a couple of people to play together a round and ( if it works and is fun) we could continue and play the round until we all get eaten by Cthulhu monsters from another dimension or get vaporized by our own mining robots. I have to admit I only hosted a server for 3-4 friends so if there are more people interested ( which would be awesome ) I would need some help to set up a server for the game. So would anyone be interested in it ?
  6. Go to your Library and then select "Tools". Scroll until you see "Project Zomboid Dedicated Server" and download/install it like you would with a game. Once downloaded, you start it. Start the game from the host option in PZ Did that. So I started a server earlier today as a test. Just to see if it would work. I went through the settings to configure a quick game setup. Played around in game a bit. I had invited someone to see if they could get in but at the time they were busy. Hours later I wanted to run another test. I can not host a game. It tries to load the game but then stops at the point when it says loading map. I went through and created a new server. Still not able to get in. I tried deleting the old server. NP there. Created new game settings and still nothing. I went through searching public games and I found 1 that let me in. However thats about as far as I can get.
  7. Hi Spiffo's Community, I have a problem when I tried to open the server settings at the build 33 of Project zomboid, when I opened the pz server settings from the folder "PZServerSettings", I opened the .bat and this problem appeared "to could not load the class zombie.PZServerSettings.MainWindow" I want an aswer as early as possible Thanks for you interesting on this topic.
  8. I was playing a multiplayer game with another player (just us). We had just started a new server with new characters and at some point I started to recklessly kill zombies with a screwdriver (headshots) thinking I'm Conan the zombie slayer from the previous save. It got me killed, twice. Seeing as the game was fairly fresh, I just spawned in a new character and basically I wasn't penalized much at all for the recklessness. Here is my suggestion: You can enable "Only the good die young" mode where you can spawn a new character, but the cost of positive traits are increased by 1 point each time, thus making your build weaker each time you respawn. This, in addition to losing all your progress could make the price of death feel a bit more impactful. If that system doesn't work, maybe you can lose a random positive trait, gain a random negative trait etc. I'm sure you catch my drift.
  9. Hello, Today, a hacker named "rag" joined my server while i wasn't there but my friend was here. My friend wanted to meet him so he set a rendez-vous point and the hacker said he was in west point, our base was at north farm (you can check where it is from pzmap). The spawn points were set as default so we knew where he could have spawned but he didn't take 10 minutes from west point to our base (that is impossible, even if you run all the way) without knowing it first and waited my friend there and killed him with a shotgun once my friend returned to the base (he discovered first the burnt house and then got killed). It was at the moment my friend got killed that he told me the story so i quickly banned him and closed the server. I did that because i didn't wanted him to do more damage to the server and i closed the server because i set a save every 3 minutes so i hoped that he burnt the house before the save but i was too late. I regret at that time that, instead of banning him, i should have joined the server as a player and tried to see by my own eyes and caught him cheating. When i checked the logs later, i saw that the "sony" guy who tried to join got kicked because of the lua/script checksums but is also the friend of the "rag" hacker. This is "rag" : http://steamcommunity.com/id/tasfasg1254125125/ and this is "sony" : http://steamcommunity.com/id/PlayerSonyxxx/ And so, that's why i'm reporting him for hacking (Teleporting at least) in PZ. (Spawn points : default Server in public list and unknown players may join VAC activated Steam clients only) Here's some extracts from my log : user log - [22-04-16 23:03:18] 76561198096434118 "rag" ip=201.68.117.199 (from TCP port test). For your information, they were some random players that joined our servers and either helped us building our base, either they tried to kill us (but be killed instead). But if there is hackers that can bypass VAC, nowhere is safe. (private only) Thanks for reading my complaint and i hope something can be done against this player. 22-04-16_20-31_chat.txt 22-04-16_23-22_pvp.txt
  10. I have taken the liberty of porting Knox County and Challenge 1 to multiplayer, for the most part of playing with friends. Both maps fully work and can be used in both single-player Sandbox or Multiplayer servers. Both maps use a separate lot id outside of the main map so can co-exist with the main map and can be spawned in if a region is added. Spawn region for Knox County: { name = "Knox County, KY", file = "media/maps/KnoxCounty/spawnpoints.lua" }, MODID for Knox County: KnoxCounty Spawn region for Challenge 1: { name = "Challenge Map #1 Hut in the Hills", file = "media/maps/ChallengeMap1/spawnpoints.lua" }, MODID for Challenge 1: ChallengeMap1 You can find both maps on the Steam Workshop here: Knox County Multiplayer: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=669180988 Challenge Map #1: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=669189457 All credits as stated in both workshop files go to The Indie Stone. and their respective developers.
  11. (I've searched for this on the forums but could not find, I'm sorry if this is a duplicated question/problem). I'm hosting a server and everything is running smoothly, except for the fact that one of the groups want to claim this house, but cannot do so. The server is set so they had to stay alive for 5 days before claiming any property. They stayed there for the correct amount of time, started some crop plantation, built some boxes and shelves and after 5 days they can't claim the house. No zombies inside the perimeter, just one player inside the house and still, no CLAIM SAFEHOUSE on right click command. Has anyone here experienced this same problem? What can prevent players from claiming structures on a multiplayer game? PS: they can claim other houses, we've checked that already
  12. Okay so I posted about this before and I really wasn't sure how to handle it. I wanted to keep it fresh so just in case someone forgot or didn't see it. Wasn't sure if I should bump that one or make a new one. But I decided to do this in any case. So I suggest we change out MP so instead of seeing your username you'll see your players name. It would be amazing for RP and I wont have to keep changing my username every time I die and create a new charri. Very simple change I think. xD Also impacts the RP community loads, everyone will love it. Even people who don't RP because it's just so much more realistic! Yeah? XD Maybe have it as a toggleable option for server admins if you really want to keep both. Bam, Cha-Ching! Again, sorry if this is against the rules. I tried going to the rules but it doesn't say anything specifically about this. So I wasn't sure if I should find and bump that one or if making a new one was called for. I've seen mods get upset when people necro old threads but I've also seen mods get upset when you create duplicates. Usually the mod then suggests either necroing or creating a duplicate (depending on the situation), which Is kind of odd but I have seen it happen. I think it has something to do with the age of the post. But I couldn't find an explanation.
  13. From realistic and balancing reasons sleeping is needed feature in multiplayer but there are not really good ideas how to do it at the moment. I thought about something like this: Character goes to bed/chair etc. and then he goes into invulnerability state when he can't be harmed for about 5-10min depends on how sleepy/exhausted he was. So it would be something like forced afk. Balance beetwen how fast character is getting exhausted in multiplayer and this "sleep" should be something around 1h of standard player activity and then need to go to "sleep" for 5-10min. This system could be paired with safehouse system that is already in multiplayer. Possible option could be that in safehouse you are perfectly safe and in other places when you sleep you could get robbed etc. Other things that this sleep could affect: ability to still chat with other players or not ability to look at map when it will be introduced
  14. So yeah, I've been trying to do it for 3 days and I don't want this time to get wasted. Here is a guide that will let you set up a private server for your friends within 1-2 hours. INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOST: INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLIENTS: EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: I hope, that I'll help at least one group of friends to play this game. To admins: I will not answer to this thread. I registered just to write this one post and disappear forever. So feel free to edit it. I waive the rights to what I've written above. Peace
  15. Hello ! Do you plan to put something in place to counter cheaters? On servers, many people make copies of their character ...In this way, if they died, they just have to copy past the saved character...and get their stat back !!! They also can easily double bullets, nails etc...This approach seriously affects the multiplayer game ! Yesterday few guys add changed objects on the server, they have been banned...Anyway hope something will be planned ! Google translation helped me ! Peace

  17. My wife and I have been playing Project Zomboid together for quite a while, and one serious immersion buster is the fact that there's no sleeping in multiplayer. This makes the passage of time awkward, and detracts seriously from the realism of the experience. I know you can sleep in "co-op" mode, but this isn't practical because playing on a single screen is annoying. I understand that people disagree with multiplayer sleeping because of servers with 10+ people playing, but we're just two, and I'm SURE that there are more couples and small groups of friends that play PZ together, that wouldn't mind having a minecraft style sleep system. Is there some major technical hangup that makes multiplayer sleeping a bear to implement? I haven't played seriously in about a year because I've been waiting for multiplayer sleeping, because it's such a deal-breaker for the experience.
  18. Regicide (Competitive Zomboid) aka “Kill the King” I am part of a small gaming clan (HYPE Gaming) that really enjoys Zomboid, but feel it lacks a Competitive feel. We are working on a mod to make Zomboid PvP more structured for competitive play. The goal of this mod is to make Zomboid a “slightly” faster pace along with emphasis on team vs team gameplay. We have already began development but would like help from the community on ideas and some coding. Features We would like any kind of positive input along with more help with coding. Anyone willing to help or test please let me know. We fully understand that there are some loops holes that have to be tackled to make this experience work and be enjoyable.
  19. Hi All, If anyone can help with this, I will slaughter several white oxen in their honor. I have spent the past week trying to get a flippin server up. Here's what I have tried. PORTS FORWARDED I have logged into my router and tried forwarding ports under UDP/TCP (screenshot attached) I also tried using a range, i.e. instead of specific ports in each line, using "16261-16268" When I use port checker, it says my port is still closed. (screenshot attached) I am using ProjectZomboidServer.bat in the main directory, and can join from the server PC using Local IP, but all external connections are failing. I have read so many forums, deleted everything and started form scratch several times, tried hamachi... but cannot for the life of me work it out. I think my port forwarding is the problem. Please help! The white oxen are waiting.
  20. When playing single player there's almost an excess of items, but as soon as I go multiplayer, the items get stupid hard to find. The warehouse had 120 cigarettes and NOTHING ELSE. Empty shelves in the spawn location where in every single player game they were full. We've tried changing this servertest_SandboxVars.lua with Notepad++ , and there was no difference. Changes to temperature and locks worked, but item frequency did not noticeably change. If anyone knows how to balance this, I would greatly appreciate the help.

  22. ...there is some abuse to the sleep mechanic. So, apparently, sleep in multiplayer is to be added, which it should be, however, it is not there just yet, which means that anything sleep-related is irrelevant. That means you could take the 'Restless Sleeper' and 'Sleepyhead' negative perks for multiplayer and they would not affect you at all, they would just give you additional points you can spend. That is 10 extra points for a missing feature; I wouldn't call that something to be ignored and not a priority. Also, since there is no sleep, it makes some items, such as sleeping tablets, useless. So, my obvious suggestion is that you, at least temporarily, add the Minecraft-like sleeping - where if everyone goes to sleep, time passes fast, otherwise it's real-time. I know it has been suggested a multitude of times, but it still isn't here and it's desired by many! And my other suggestion is: either remove sleep-related perks from multiplayer, or in multiplayer make them add no points, as they are irrelevant. Till sleep is implemented, it should be this way.
  23. Hi! We are Dranya Studio, a small indie game development team from Hanoi, Vietnam. This is our very first title to have a public release. We decided to name it Battle Splash because it features Third Person Shooter gameplay and uses Water Combat as the main mechanic. Battle Splash is a third-person shooter filled with actions and water splashes. The game is the combination of Old-School Element and the Class-based Shooter, which results in a Frenzy and Balance gameplay. The aim of this game is to create a Fun, Intense, Non-Violence and Exciting atmosphere for players in Competitive modes as well as Co-operative modes. Choose your favorite Characters and Challenge your friends (or even AIs) for Epic Fast-paced Water Fights. Current Features: - 4 play modes, including 2 Competitive modes and 2 Co-op/Competitive modes. - 3 maps, from small to large areas. - 4 Classes, each possesses different stats and an unique Special Item. - 4 Basic Weapons (which are available for all Classes). - Up to 4 Teams for each maps (may vary in the future). - Optimizing for up to 24 ~ 32 players. AIs included. - Support LAN and Direct Join. Online play is under experimentation We've finished the game mechanics and now we're currently developing more and more contents for the game. We want to make this game relaxing and entertaining, thus requires a lot of works in order to complete the game (due to our very limited resources). We would like to show you some of our real-time rending demo clips on YouTube. The gameplay of Battle Splash still haven't been revealed yet, and we'll do so in the nearest time. And here's some of our rendering images. Some of them may representing the current state of our game, while there will be more drastic changes during our development. Feel free to comment and send us feedbacks so that we know what you think of our game. Stay tuned for more info in our page as well as our social media with the links below. 24. Hello, today I've rented a server at nitrado (nitrado.net) to play with a friend on it. The server is based on linux and we are using Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. When my friend connects, it almost works instantly, but everytime I try it, it'll give me the same errors. I already tried to run it with the -nosteam option, starting it as admin and reinstalled the whole game. Our internet should be no problem, I also forwarded all ports and tried it with the "exposed host" setting, but neither worked for me. Here's a picture of the problem: Sincerely samsi02
  25. This seems like it should be a server option to begin with but i realize this was put into the game before mp and is still client side. Is there anyway you could force people on a server to use the more advanced methods? Such as finding a magazine and having to load it and all that jazz that makes guns less arcadey.
