  1. Steam had it up. Did some research and saw Mathas's videos on the tube. Got hooked, had to buy. Been playing Zombiod and watching Mathas ever since.
  2. Mostly MMO's. Ultima Online - School - Hookey WoW - College - Skipped class Final Fantasy - PTO - Taking a day off to play f'n video games Warhammer Online - PTO - Taking a day off to play f'n video games
  3. I like to feel that I have zombie clearing figured out by now. I mostly play on insane pop and leave everything else alone. So I started a standard survival game, got lucky and spawned at the construction site next to the Giga Mart. Then while going through Twiggys I found a saw... and a sledge. Cleaned out the are with a pistol and tried to reload after every shot to get my skills up, and also to try and find an ax on a zed. Mission accomplished on both ends. So early the next morning I loaded up a 10 boxes of shottie ammo, two bottles of water, couple bags of chips and headed out early to go find this mall. On my way I stayed the night at the race track, and helped myself to the fridge since the power was still on. Ol Bilbo McBaginzes enjoyed the last fresh corndog in the world. In the morning I made my way to the threater and poked around in the place, restocked my chips. Found a hammer and a couple boxes of nails along which I took figuring I could use them to wall off portions of the mall if need be. The next morning I cut my way across the parking lot which felt very familiar to playing on insane pop. I mostly just herded and group blasted with the shottie, no big deal. Once inside the mall I got into a room with some crates, stairs going up, and elevator and three rooms. Lots of zed, Called them outside and let the ax to my talking. Got into the building feeling pretty good about myself. So I headed upstairs... into the most dense hord I have ever seen outside of me herding. Luckly I made it back down the stairs and put on my shottie. I went near the corner to the ouside that I had cleared and blasted three shots. Then my back door got flooded O.o. Where did those guys come from? So I scrambled over to the other door to have it burst down and another huge hord streamed in from there... Had 4 rounds left in the shottie... think I got 3 off before the dinner bell of doom rang out for sweet Bilbo. O hell yeah, its on now. This is gonna be super fun. Just wish it was not so far out of the way.
  4. Stepped on a roof to my safe house (West Point, next to the church with the two west facing gardens), fell through said roof into the middle of the bed. I was stuck in said bed. Lucky, I had a bottle of whisky so I drank that bad boy up, and took the eternal sleep. (sped up time until he died of starvation) 9 month with a couple of days survived. I like to think my character just kinda gave up at that point.
  5. Cowboy Bebop Sword Art Online Intial D Vampire Hunter D (the first one) Samurai Champloo Basilisk Bleach Rurouni Kenshin Death Note What I put in bold is on Netflix streaming right now (others might be, not sure). I would check out Sword Art Online, its easily one of the best.
  6. I would think most firearms found outside of a safe would be loaded. Any home protection weapon is usually kept loaded. In my house the glock and the mossy are stored with rounds in them. None of them are chambered, just they are loaded. Also, I leave rounds in my CCW and the gun in my car. In the zombie apocalypse tho, I think I would have burned all my rounds before going down, or else I would have put on in my own head. As the game goes, bullets and guns are super powerful. I feel the combination of rarity for ammo and firearms evens out as it currently sits.
  7. I like the suggestion. But I enjoy the Rangers vision perk quite a bit.
  8. I died of thirst and hunger next to it.
  9. Deadman, I agree if you see them on the ground. But this one turned from a walker to a crawler due to damage. I hit it, it hit the ground and then lunged instantly. Unless I am doing something wrong that I can not figure out... it felt.. cheap. Random unfair game mechanic deaths are a big deal in a roguelike style game. I am sure indie stone will figure it all out. I am still going to play on insane population. Its an addiction now.
  10. After 3-4 games of 1-2 days living, I finally got some traction. Well, I survived 16 days, killed 1116 zombies. I learned to take on hordes with a ax or baseball bat, 15-20 at a time. What got me was I dropped a lone zombie to the ground, in instantly turned into a crawler and lunged, bite to the right shin. I learned to take vitamins and beta blockers by the hand-full. So much fun! Though I do wish the crawlers would not "activate" until you move away from them and back into their zone. Not realistic, but more 'fair' in a game mechanic aspect. Or does someone have a work around this?
  11. We practiced this stuff all the time in the infantry. Try clearing a challenge tower with those who work as a team vs those who do not, and it will baffle your mind.
  12. I would like to see one master list of items currently on my character, with a designation of which bag/self it can be found in. I feel the system could be better, but by no means is the current inventory awful or anything.
  13. So, I have been playing the crap out of some zomboid. I have learned enough tricks to deal with the survival mode, and until the npc's are released the game has required me to challenge myself in sandbox. So I jacked up the zombie population to insane. It definitely ups the scale in challenge and I feel more like I am in trench warfare. Give a little ground, gain a little ground. NEVER EVER use a gun unless I have a epic f'load of bullets. I have yet to live long enough to find a shotgun... but man that is gonna be fun. Any of you cats have good tips for this level of density?
  14. Not true at all. a "true" katana was made from some of the worst metal if its an ancient japaneese sword. The level of carbon was very low and added in and tried to spread evenly with folding the steel. Which btw, was a Celt technique. They do not fair well for age, and the weak spots are unpredictable at best. They were built with a full tang and taper though. Replica swords for the most part have better steel, but they are constructed with a welded 'rat tail' tang in the handle. Very small pins keep the handle (tsuba on down) which means any real impact on the weapon will give you a STRONG chance of of turning your sword into what sword people call the 'idiot copter' (i.e. spinning out of control blade as it breaks away from the handle/hilt w/e.) Modern swords with modern super steels (3V, S30V, Elmax, CTS-XHP) with the carbon evenly spread through the metal are MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger, sharper, wear resistant, and flexible than any old jap sword. Modern high end swords will still chip/crack/ and shatter if used on the human skull or any thick bone structure. 3V would probably be the only steel that might work with such a narrow slicing blade and not go bad in the first couple of skulls to go through... but the sword would have to be a little dull to avoid edge folding. But as 3V is not stainless, lots of upkeep would be needed to keep corrosion at bay. For my money give me a modern made Da Dao or Oakeshott X or XIV, and you would have yourself a good zombie slayer if you need a sword. Weapons you would want for zombies would be a axe with a thorn, mace, flail or tomahawk with a thorn.
  15. You just want to turn your buddy into tequila. Damn... now I want to turn all my friends into tequila.
  16. I could see a short term effect of hard of hearing to take effect for a minute or two after the shot to remove the ringing of a shotgun. Rifles and shotguns only. Pistols not so much. Would help with that zombie sneaking up behind you suspense while clearing an area.
  17. I do not want to see suppressors in the game as its game breaking. But hunting with a suppressed rifle WITH subsonic ammo is crazy fun. You can honestly shoot a hog close up, and its buddies/family will just stand there wondering why one of their own is running for the brush and bleeding. With deer you can wipe out a good 3-4 from a herd if your culling. They DO in fact give almost no noise with the proper setup and ammo. Hunters are doing this more often in Texas. I would say in the last year, I have seen about 3 hunters with a similar setup. Although it takes a good 3-5 years to get a built in barrel type after you order it. You mostly see them mostly on rifles then on pistols in the more rural areas. Done right with sub sonic ammo goto 6:50. With regular ammo
  18. I like where your head is at. But I am under the assumption that EVERYONE already has PTSD in the zombie apocalypse.
  19. Posted in the other one. But, howdy.
  20. Sure, I will start. Anywho, I was in the Army Infantry for 9 years and now am a registered land surveyor in the great state of Texas. Loving husband of 18 years and proud father. I am now an avid Mathas watcher, and if anyone else has good lets play zomboids I would love to check out your channels while I am at work. This game had me at the old school xcom apocalypse feel to it with a brutal zombie survival theme. I have been wanting a game like this for quite some time. I do not follow releases and such as I work 60+ hours a week. Finding this on steam was a dream come true. So far I think I am at 70 hours or so played, and am currently in my longest lasting survival game of 1 month 20 days.
  21. I am done after responding to this. Is it impossible to reload modern firearms as a novice without modern convinces? Nothing is impossible, but HIGHLY improbable. The chance of harming/killing yourself before making a quality product is HIGH. Also there is no need to craft ammo in this game as it compensates by having "universal" bullets for all pistols. What does irk me is that some of us have a strong knowledge in the area and explained the difficulties of doing such in a zombie infested end of the world scenario, and you claimed our statements are "bullshit" and threw up some youtube comments that in all honesty did NOT defend your stance at all. So there it is.
  22. Renham.... So..... Load data needed (the book). Check. Did not see him roll his own brass, he re necked.. also assume he purchased the brass as I didn't see a rolling/heating station AND its what almost all re-loaders do if they are pressing their own rounds. Did not see him cast his own dyes. Did not create his own powder/lube/ ect. These were all purchased. Assume in game that these are attached to the bench as it would be stored near it supposedly, so we could nil that point out... but these would have to be replenished. As stated, you can reload easy in today's world with UPS delivering you the materials and you have access to the data you need. But come the zombie apocalypse I am pretty sure you can't YouTube the instructions to make it happen. Here is an example, I could put you down at my bench, hand you all the materials I have (which is everything needed) and I stand firm that without instruction you will not even be able to figure out the powder load or what primer to put in what round. You would hurt/kill yourself as well as damage the gun beyond repair. About homemade guns: Sure, they 'work'. Are they accurate? No. Are they safe, HELL NO. Would I use one in the apocalypse? Yes, if absolutely necessary. Could I make one without the help of Youtube/internet/ and power? Nope. Encyclopedias (if people even keep them anymore) do not cover that kinda stuff.
  23. 27. I never pass up on acquiring a garbage bag.
  24. That link is a great primer to reloading. See what I did there?
