I'll be kicking out new sprites for my map and updating them on Drive as I go. I've got a list that I'll be working from, but I'm open to most requests; just know that my progress will be quite slow for a while.

First up is the porch kit, it adds these little end caps and some adjusted railings. The downside is to get them to show on higher floors, I had to uncheck their FloorOverlay property, which means players and item can show behind the caps.

For those of you that like to work in 3D, I've been working on a prefab scene that I can reference in for modeling and placing. You'll find it on the drive link in the 3D folder, a readme is included. It's a clean setup with lights, cameras and reference objects for easy snapping.

It looks like this in Maya, and I've included a .fbx of this scene as well so you can use it in Blender or Max just as well.

Primal reacted to Axezombie in Boxes + fence? When will it end?
An "easy" way to fix this would be to make fences destroyable by zombies when they can't climb them, crawlers are already coded like that so it may be not that hard to make normal zombies attack them too

Am I the only one who wants the players to stop abusing buildings with a low fence and boxes?

Primal reacted to Nightwatch in Refrigerator/Freezer On/Off Option
It would be nice to have the ability to toggle refrigerators and more notably the chest freezers (popsicle freezers) on and off like ovens and lights for example. This would most notably be for when the power grid has failed and you have switched over to generator power, by doing this we would be able to leave the appliance there and not consume extra power/fuel cooling a empty appliance, and we would not have to keep picking up and placing it as required to achieve this goal. *This will not mean as much to the people who do not stockpile an excessive amount of perishable food and do not have a entire room dedicated to these devices.
Subnote : I am not asking for refrigerator/freezer combos to have split controls as that is all or nothing, just the ability to power on/off the entire appliance.

Primal reacted to TheDecentTech in Item Searcher - Make Your Character Do the Work!
Item Searcher v1 is released to the Steam Workshop!

This mod adds a UI and convenience features for finding a particular item in a room (or on your person, if you need that kind of assistance! ), by progressively walking to and searching containers.

You can find demo screenshots on the Workshop page, but in short-- press the '/" button (typically found next to Enter/Return on QWERTY keyboards) to open the UI. Input an item (double-click a table entry if your typed input is ambiguous) and put your feet up while your character does the hard work!

If you find Item Searcher helpful, please rate and favorite on the Workshop page! If you feel especially motivated, please share this post or links to the Workshop item to let others know Item Searcher exists-- I made this mod because it's exactly the kind of thing I wanted in Project Zomboid when I started playing.

If you have feedback of any kind, positive or negative, please leave a comment on the Workshop page, or create an issue on GitHub.

For those especially motivated to share their appreciation and support, I have created a Ko-fi page. Anything you are able to give further enables me to spend time outside of my full-time job to improve Item Searcher, or create other mods that may be enjoyed.

Primal reacted to SAYVS in I remade the Riverside map.
    Hi,

The other day I asked for a way to gather all graphical assets in Project Zomboid since I want to improve the visuals of the game.
As a test, I started with the Riverside Map trying to make it more real.

    Remade Version

    Actual Version

You'll probably see that I added icons for all the interesting places and even tried to "name" the roads/streets. I did it because imho a real map will inform the "user" with all this stuff, so I don't think it would be unrealistic if the player has all this info on the map.

First of all, I want to know if you guys like it. If that's the case, I can work on the rest of the maps in a similar way. Personally, I think every map should have at least an original or tweaked style, since different companies or comporations would print different maps with different designs. I even fantasized with the idea of designing outdated, vintage maps or even more crazy ideas :D
I'm a Graphic Designer and a UI/UX Designer. I tried to apply for a job at Indie Stone years ago and the team told me that in a lot of cases they gather new employees just by roaming around and discovering modders, so I think I'll try to work my ass off doing as much improvements as I can on the graphical part (for example, aside from maps, it would be awesome to improve the car HUD/Front Panel) so in the future I can at least show what I'm capable of.

Finally, all feedback will be well received and I'll present corrected versions if necessary.

    Thanks in advance!

1 - I run a 6 core, Zomboid seems to prefer 2-3 cores but will use all 6 under heavy use. Generally higher clockspeed is preferable over more cores on comparable processors for game servers. But more importantly processor architecture matters way more nowadays, gone are the days of the GHz race. Pick the newest if you want performance. There are not many tests carried out for 'optimal' as far as I'm aware. There do be some variables and you'd need a lot of hardware. Such is the life of server hosting.

Last I read it was recommended to have 2GB + players * 0.5 in memory. I run nowhere near 32 players, no idea how well it scales. Don't be too worried about RAM frequency, servers often run ECC memory which is a tad slower anyway at standard JEDEC speeds. I think you'd have to run a pretty strange setup to run into massive memory speed bottlenecks.

2 - Linux has less overhead, that is an advantage. I doubt there'd be much difference for actual server performance but on windows you'd need to add a bit more RAM.

If you are completely unfamiliar with linux and terminal, probably go for Ubuntu Server and prepare for a lot of googling. Main advantage of Ubuntu over Debian is it's a bit less barebones and not so outdated on the package management side. Not really an issue but nicer if you're new. Regardless go for a well supported distribution/OS. I'm sure there are some small distributions that try and lure people in with promises of bare essentials and highest performance but you will require some help and an answer to a question at some point. That is a lot easier when you can just google "Debian steam.sh spitting out error X".

3 - No idea. The ping/latency problems should be negligible though.

4 - You really don't need third party software. But if you want there are some examples on these forums of discord bots, third party apps and whatnot. Personally I just use a small bash script to check/start/stop/update the server. You really don't need much at all, CRON or Windows Task Scheduler will do the heavy lifting for you.

If you are unsure about this I would highly recommend just dipping your toes in the water, host a small server just for yourself and/or some friends, get familiar with the ins and outs of your chosen setup. Afterwards you can always scale it up, make it more complicated/convenient (those two go hand in hand) and invest more money in to it if needed.

Primal got a reaction from Yana M.D. in [41.78.12] [Single] Tile brush - textures break save.
41.78.12; Single; Host; No; New save; Still occurs on new save; Reproduction steps: Start game with "-debug"; Activate cheat "Tile brush"; Select category "[DOOR] fixtures_doors_fences_01; Select one of the sprites highlighted in the screenshot; Set it on the ground, walk up and press "E" to open it. We get an error. We are thrown into the menu. Addition: I didn't get the error initially. Then it began to happen to each of these sprites. Perhaps a sledgehammer is involved somehow? I used this to destroy sprites. One save was broken after reloading: everything was black except cars, buildings. I didn't see myself, zombies, earth and more.

Alow for more creative building experiences with new carpentry and metalworking wall shapes, doors, roofing, etc. I would like to be able to construct buildings with triangular roofing like normal houses. The ability to construct garage doors would also be a very welcome quality of life change. Effective base defenses like traps, electric fences, scrap metal or wooden floor/wall/window spikes, etc would also be a fun thing to have. More plumbing/irrigation would be nice as well. Eg, routing water from a rain barrel to a drip system that waters crops over time. Maybe a modder has done this somewhere, Im not sure. But it would be great to have this in vanilla. As I feel the building system is rather limited because of how few options you have.

Primal got a reaction from Pandorea in 41.36 Feet are like hands
I use a translator. He greatly distorts the essence. On the health panel, everything was fine. I hurt my legs - everything was correctly displayed. But I could not open the hood, remove the glass, remove the curtains, fill the bottle. Then I noticed. What sounds of the execution of the action is. Without animation and progress bar - the sound of filling a bottle appeared. I checked. There was no water in the bottle. I clicked to drink. And the character quenched his thirst. But he still could not get the interface of the car under the hood, but the sound of opening took place. After a while, everything worked fine.

warnings about buildings and places infested by zombies written on walls and fences with paint and/or blood written by some peoples before they died
    here's few examples:
    -"they are here"
    -"beware of the dead"
    -"dead inside"
that signs would appear randomly on maps in places filled with zeds, just like houses barricaded not by players
