  1. Sad? Sad is kids going to bed hungry, or unrequited love . . . . Anyway, these are my answers: 1. Somewhere near the highway, preferably a building with more than one story and several exits. Somewhere that has trees nearby for easy base building. 2. Really depends on the situation, but unless my player is having a real tough go at it, I'd be a friendly, though wary, survivor. 3. At first small but you never know, it could get much bigger! I hope , anyway. 4. I tend to be a good guy despite it all, so I'd feel more comfortable inviting people based on their morals rather than their "usefulness." 5. Leader but won't mind playing second fiddle to someone who takes charge and knows what they're doing.
  2. Are you missing the bit where I said I was getting messages to my personal twitter feed telling me they hope I die of cancer? Can I politely ask you in what universe do you propose to tell me its inappropriate for me to tell such people to fuck off on my own personal twitter feed? On our official indie stone twitter, or even on these forums, you'll notice a distinct lack of telling anyone to fuck off. But that is kinda akin to someone knocking at your front door and shouting it in my face. I would ask you to honestly tell me how you would respond if someone knocked on your door, awaited your answer then shouted in your face that they hope you die of cancer? This is not a fair analogy considering what you can do to someone in real life and what you can do to someone over the internet are quite different. You can not physically assault someone through Twitter. That being said, I'll pretend this is a suitable analogy. If I opened my front door to a crazed person yelling obscenities toward me, I'd shut the door and lock it. It's never a good idea to start yelling at people, regardless of the situation, or regardless of the medium. Especially not to deranged individuals, I don't own a Twitter, but I assume there are ways to delete or not follow people? This seems like a better way of dealing with the situation than telling them to "fuck off," no matter how good it feels, or how justified you are, in telling the person to "fuck off." It's just never a good idea, especially toward seemingly deranged individuals like the hypothetical situation you provided, because you're just adding to the cacophony of craziness by sinking down to their level. I'll repeat myself, I'm not saying "I agree with the customer" but surely, there are more productive ways to deal with obtuseness. Again, that's my point! Never did I say the people "deserve" an answer or that they, the customer, "is right." All I said is that, in TiS's position, flying off the handle at people, regardless of how justified you may be, is not the most productive course of action. That's been my point from my first post and while I could have phrased my point better, this is what I was saying from the beginning. I didn't realize how emotionally charged everyone is on this topic but that's why I feel there should be a better course of action. You're just going to feel bitter and angry by getting so indignant which sounds like madness to me considering you yourself have admitted that there's no way to win. No matter what y'all do, the questions will persist. So to quote myself again, copy and paste the links where you've explained your stance on no ETA's, deal subtly with the people that cross the line, and take ten deep breaths. Get a stress ball or kick the football around to relieve stress. I'm not one to glorify positive thinking but in these types of intractable situations, there's no other solution, which is why I said just be grateful people show so much interest. I'm not saying you are all ungrateful, I 'm saying that this is an opportunity to feel grateful for something, instead of felling indignant, since it is such an hopeless situation. I've seen your point and everyone has made it countless times, and I would love to see where in my posts I ever claimed that the "customer is always right." I would ignore these people, delete them from my twitter, and just post a general statement along the lines of, "To repeat, as a company policy, we generally do not give ETA's (Source) and would like to remind everyone to please refrain from asking for them! Have a nice day. =-)" Whatever fallout you get from people crying "censorship" would be less than whatever kind of fallout you receive from giving these people your time of day. If it's a no win situation, why not just cut your losses and ignore these people? I just want you guys to be happy. There are better places to make a stand, preferably under less intractable situations, situations where some sort of progress can be made. I agree whole heartily that everyone must make a stand for what they believe in, but I feel this is not the correct battle. I agree with everything you've said, I agree with the craziness of "Entitled Gamers" as I myself have coined such types of people. I just don't think fueling the fire is the correct approach. I don't think it's a good time to be put yourself through a crucible. Doing this is more akin to going through a gauntlet, something masochists enjoy, because there's no benefit to fighting this battle. As you've said, it's a no win situation, so head butting the problem over and over again seems to just cause you a lot of stress, waste time, and isn't productive what so ever. That's been my claim and no one has really proven it wrong. Make a short general statement about why you don't give ETAs (or just post the link, again), hell copy the statement onto Notepad, and just Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V that sucker onto your Twitter each time things get out of hand. It's not a successful exchange which is why I think you should just ignore people, and while there will always be some kind of fallout, that's the best way of dealing with it. That's the best way of avoiding hurt feelings or complaining. That's the best way since as you keep saying, it's an intractable, no win situation. Cut your losses and forget about it. It won't ever change. The irony will be lost on those people crying for the NPCs, the "Entitled Gamers" as I like to call them, but not ironic for me because I think your mental health is important. The reasons these issues get you so worked up is my reasoning for letting it be and why I suggest a more laissez-faire approach. Trust me when I say this, I am not someone who often applies the laissez-faire approach, but this situation certainly qualifies. There's a lot of selfishness and obtuseness in this world, and you will be digging yourself an early grave if you meet them blow for blow. It's just too much for one person, group, company to handle. These kinds of problems, like you say with company policies, are intractable and almost engrained in the instant gratification culture. Since the problem is so huge, so rampant, so pervasive you're really not making a dent in it by trying to whack the mole every time it appears. The mole is going to keep coming, so better just save your coins and walk away from the machine (See, i can make strange metaphors too ). Anyway, I hope I make my point clear. I agree with what you're saying Lemmy but what I'm asking you to do is pick your battles more wisely. Again, you're an awesome dude and I have all the respect for you in the world, even if you think what I'm saying is excrement. My solution is just copy and paste the same paragraph explaining the company's stance on this issue, delete/censor those types of comments on your Twitter page, and ignore the fallout you will receive from these same tools. Most people that would read your statement, if they follow or not TiS, will realize that you don't censor true criticisms or commentary, but you won't abide this sort of willful dissent that leads no where. And it's best to fight this dissent by doing your best to get as little involved in it as possible, make some blanketed statement which explains why you're not giving Entitled Gamers the time of day and move on with it.
  3. No, I'm saying you just keep telling them you don't give ETAs, and if they insist, you . . . . Ignore them. I never said you have to like the fact that they keep asking the same question over and over again, I even said that I myself do not like the incessant questions. Accept the fact that they exist, that they can't be stopped, stick to your guns, and think about the big picture. At least it's indicative that people are very excited about upcoming features. Getting frustrated, angry, indignant in this case isn't productive.
  4. No one is claiming that the "customer is always right" and I agree with you one hundred percent that it's bad business practice to focus so much on customer relations at the expense of employee happiness. However, my point remains, how is telling people to "fuck off" ever a good idea? No one is suggesting TIS throws their morals into their wind, and much less asking them to dump their integrity off at the nearest garbage bin. IN fact, I love this game and I think they're a great company, yet I try to look at everything objectively. No one in this thread was in anyway being ridiculous or unfair toward the TIS; the people that asked for ETAs, even though I disagree with them, were being more than polite in their posts. It's ironic because I was being flippant, a bad habit of mine, I admit, but I don't think badly of Lemmy or anyone on the TiS team. That being said, I don't see fighting fire with fire ever working. If anything, the ETA and NPC threads are a good thing, they're indicative that the product is doing well. I did not say that to suggest that team is ungrateful, but I am suggesting that everyone needs to get thicker skin and not blow things out of proportion or get indignant over understandable enthusiasm over such a good game. No matter how obtuse, annoying, or repetitive such posts can get.
  5. Then replace the bad word with having "nasty bad mood days." My statements stand and I don't feel sorry for them on this issue, sorry. No matter how many times the questions has been answered, at least be grateful people care as much as they do and utilize some tact. That being said, you will never see me asking about NPCs, I m patient. I've bought the game like eight times already. I, however, understand why and expect people to ask questions that have already been answered. It happens with good games, life will be easier if no one was indignant. Also, I never claimed Lemmy was being anything except indignant. I do disagree with his sentiment that part of honest community interaction means having no filter. That's it, though, I disagree. I could be wrong but I don't think removing your filter helps this game. . . .
  6. Lemmy, I hardly recognized you! So let me get this straight, y'all don't want to be unprofessional, you just want to reserve the right to tap into your "shitty bad mood days"? Strange considering the forums number one rule. I understand the teams frustrations with ETAs but, honestly, the indignant attitude is getting rather stale. "Oh, boo hoo, people love my product so much that they ask the same stupid questions over and over again in hopes of squeezing some new bit of information out of us!" At least people give a damn about what you're doing. There are much worse things that fans of this game could be doing and I'm hard pressed to sympathize with you considering the harmlessness of such questions. I understand that it can be annoying, even frustrating, but more than being "professional", act like a mature adult and just be happy people care before responding.
  7. Me thinks doth give the games too much credit. How about horrendously boring and unimaginative piles of stale dung like regurgitating filth over a decade's worth of time?
  8. Complicated. We've been together for a year and a half, I was a callous asshole to her so technically we are broken up at the moment since about two months ago. However, we're dating again and taking things slowly, I'm demonstrating that I'm a much more committed person that I initially was and someone to trust. Sometimes it takes losing someone to realize how important they were to you, hopefully I didn't learn that lesson too late. Is killing ever the moral choice?
  9. Wahhhooo! Can't wait to try out the new build!
  10. E-excellent! Online chess is easier to make mistakes than in real person, but I'm down to play. My username is: Spaniard11
  11. No one announces that they're tipping, even in the USA . . . .
  12. If it's not in the patch note, then no, don't report bug here, this thread is made to talk about the CURRENT patch note, cheers Oye sorry about that, thankfully I've long ago posted about that issue on the bugtracker. About build 26, does the hunting knife look like any other knife when you have it equipped or does it look different?
  13. Will there be zombies that spawn inside houses again on this build?
  14. Who got rowdy? You're the one laughing out loud because someone pointed out your illegitimate complaints.Since when is it illegitimate to express my opinion,?Just leave this subject alone already and if you have issues with what I said, PM me, dont put me in blast, on public. Maybe uninformed would have been more accurate word choice, considering TiS has made several thorough, and very extensive statements as cookies was alluding, posts on the very subject you bring up. As soon as I get home I'll send you a PM with more details , butter cup.
  15. Who got rowdy? You're the one laughing out loud because someone pointed out your illegitimate complaints.
  16. I love the US but what I hate about is how, like many other countries, it values money and power over human quality of life. Tipping is a means for restaurants, chains, to pay their employees less and not provide them with minimum wage. It's gross, in my opinion, and I wish I didn't have to do it here. We're not okay with giving universal health care but we're fine with paying people's salaries at dinner, it's madness.
  17. I like families but I happen to agree here with Silents, including families with character creation doesn't fit the game. If you really want to do it, it can be done through actual roleplay, with your friends, so why spend valuable development time on a niche demographic of players that doesn't add to the overall enjoyment of the game for most people? It's why having sex and children won't be implemented. Sure it's unrealistic, though not immersion breaking, so I feel it wouldn't add an extra dynamic to the game, nor would it increase the fun for most people. Sex in games, having kids in games, spawning with families . . . Those are all very niche things that don't actually make the game more fun. Your suggestion is possible by getting a group of people together and planning ahead of time before joining a server or you can just mod it into the game.
  18. BUT I WANT MY PUSSY CAT We get it, Wildclitoris, you like to make virgins on the internet squirm. This idea doesn't add anything to the game, there's already a single player aspect of the game that consists of two people who are in a relationship. If you want to have relationships, then create a server where it's all about building romance, despite the world falling to pieces. NPCs is fine, but leave families out of character creation. I don't see how this is a serious suggestion or could add anything to the game. This game isn't DayZ and this fear of "competitive gaming" is extraordinarily obtuse. If you don't like playing with people who are "competitive" then don't. Your way isn't "the" way of playing the game, so this suggestion is more along the lines of Mod territory. The game 's PvP and safety mode is being worked on, and even as it is now, who cares if you're killed by some crazed bandit? It's part of the role play of being in a post apocalyptic setting. Bad shit happens. It's maddening how people expect to be safe and cozy in a world that isn't, even in real life. Expect things to not go your way, it happens all the time, and be happy you get the chance to play this game with other people. Try to survive, see "griefers" as bandits, and do your best to make it. Play the game, play through the challenges, instead of complaining about other players having fun. Questionable things have happened to me in game but that doesnt stop me from having fun, because i genuinely like this game, and I'm happy to die in game if it adds to the tension one experiences when playing this great RPG.
  19. Awesome, awesome updates! Zombies aren't spawning in houses though, I thought this was changed in recent builds?
  20. It's ignorant, like racism, since a more accurate portrayal would be a Taliban using American weaponry, since the United Sates of America supported them militarily to hinder Russia's efforts in Afghanistan a few decades back. Anyway, really cool information about where they keep those gold Bullion, and I wonder if we'll find it in PZ. Can't wait to see where they take it and personally, and I think having different elevations will really help with immersion. High ground starts to become a factor, which is great.
  21. To whom? The taliban? Who would care? In any event, goats are a commodity in that area of the world and goatherds are common. Therefore if you are going to do a mock-up of someone from that region, including a goat is just being accurate. It's offensive to people. Just because i'm not Chinese, doesn't mean I suddenly don't get offended at racism toward Chinese people. Same goes with a Afghani Taliban mock-up, it just doesn't make sense to defend that sort of caricature. It does nothing good at all, perhaps a victimless crime, but makes me embarrassed as a citizen of this great country.
  22. Love all the subtleties which come with the 3D models and they look really nice to boot!
  23. Considering the setting, swords don't make any sense. This game will be heavily modded for a reason, if you want to play dungeons and dragons, or Ninja Scroll, then go and mod the game to put swords into it.

I read every word of what you said, and you compared remembering a door's location to, "it's somehow unconcievable to keep track of 300 dead people craving for your flesh and trying to grab your ass, and insta-forget them as soon as he turns his eyeballs." It's much, much easier remembering all the windows you've covered with sheets than it is to calmly register every slobbering monster that's shambling toward its next snack. The fact you think it's more reasonable to remember the zombies than something you did in relative tranquility is absolutely absurd. Keep track of, to me, means that you think it's reasonable to be able to predict where the Zombies are going, or sense them so well that you may as well see them, even with your back turn. As other people have been saying, which you conveniently seem to gloss over, is that there already exist visual cues to let you know if someone is running up behind you. The way it is done now is fine and it's more confusing, I think, to visually show the "last known position" and it's not really beneficial to the game play. THe player's brain can do that itself and in no way makes the game more fun, if anything, it's exhilarating to have to turn around to see exactly where they might be, just like you would in real life. Also, this whole "spinning top" thing is ridiculous. If I were in a Zombie APocalyse, I can tell you right now, I 'd be looking over my shoulder every frickin' five seconds. That includes pivoting my body in 360 degrees. There's nothing immersion breaking about that, what is immersion breaking is walking around like some omniscient being that is able to track 400 Zombies all cool and calm, never once having to check their surroundings.
