  1. Any update on if they're working on this issue, and steam controller support with SteamOS as well?
  2. Latest stable up to date version, steamOS automatically updates.

I also use a steamcontroller so I would like to test that out.

  5. Yup! You have to get used to the animation, and understand how it leads you vulnerable to being attacked by groups of zombies! Personally, I've always felt pretty damn effective with knives, but there's nothing like using a bludgeoning weapon to beat them back which offers a very distinct advantage. I shudder to think at the nuances that the new weapons system will bring to the game. These kinds of changes will make this hiatus of not playing the game even more meaningful.
  6. I just have to say my jaw dropped, this new animation system is fucking amazing considering the scope of this game . . . THough I wonder if it would be possible/reasonable to have hats fly off after being hit, for example. Maybe some damage effects on the actual model based on the damage received?
  7. Also, remember, that with the inclusion of NPCs it will likely be much easier to find valuable tools, or at least people that own them. If it gets too easy to live on your own, I imagine it will be way too easy if you manage to get a functional group together once nonzombie NPCs are implemented in the game. This is , of course, speculation. NPCs won't make the game easier for you, but harder. Currently it's easy to have a safehouse or mulitple safehouses, because the only danger is zombies, but when there are others you have to rethink your defense and also food supply. You most likly have to team up to manage some kind of safety to be able to keep all the stuff you gather. Also why would I be able to find more stuff and tools? If I only was able to find one jar lid during two months, guess how many I will find if NPCs care about them. I think in terms of finding good items the game will actually become easier because, as I was trying to imply, human NPCs will be looking for tools as well. So, a good way of finding tools, would probably be to steal from other NPCs and thus easier than having to scour the entire city on your own looking for them.

  9. Besides, with a weekly mondoid, and almost a video included with each one it's not like we're in the dark. The community knows, for the most part, that the devs are super accessible and present. I for one am glad that these game developers are exceptional at their craft instead of being PR/marketing savants
  10. hahaha awesome, I remember when scouring the forums during yesteryear, reading your hastily written, and enjoying the typo laden, anecdotes from your experiences playing PZ. good stuff and welcome back, I am waiting for 1.0, and hell maybe I'll see ya sometime out on the wasteland
  11. Multiplayer is fine, once 1.0 comes along myself and many others that have been following the game for years will come out of the woodwork, not to mention the huge influx of new and relatively new players alike.
  12. Musical instruments? Now that I think about it, imagine a heavy metal band trying to make it in the Zombie Apocalypse. They'd be real life fucking heroes if they managed to pull that off!
  13. Sacrifice is somewhat similar to what you're talking about, and an absolute gem of a game.
  14. Lemmy, you're a passionate guy, and I'm sure that's what makes you such a good developer. I'll say this though, I don't understand your approach to this "issue" but I respect your choice. I don't understand your approach because I really doubt the effectiveness of trolls, entitled gamers, and the like when it comes to pushing away potential customers. I 've never developed or tried to sell a game, so I have no idea about market ramifications due to trolling. However, considering the scope and quality of Project Zomboid, I doubt it's more than negligible. I mean, pandora's box is already open in the sense that the NPC hype and hysteria is there, it's not going to disappear, so trying to close pandora's box seems to be a wasted endeavor. Accept the past mistakes, and move on (getting over something means not wanting to jump off the nearest balcony when NPC development is lamented upon). Honestly, I suggest you start working out, doing yoga, something to keep your mind off of things(not to sound like a prude, but refrain from alcohol, seriously . . . Stressed people+alcohol =/= good mental health). Stop using Twitter, facebook, and have others run it for you. It's okay to be without social media. I don't know, it just seems to me that your solution is using a band aid to cover a cannon ball wound. You're never going to change the way people respond, so why keep trying in vain? Do something to keep yourself from crawling into bed whenever someone posts something that devalues all the hard work you've done. You know you work hard, the rest of TiS knows you work hard, your fans know you work hard, and a large majority of the people will buy your game because of it. That's the best you will ever get, but hey, that's pretty fucking good. The trolls have little power, and with all due respect, I think you're feeding the troll and giving them ammunition by making your anxiety so public. . . Everything is going to be okay man, keep following your dream, and fuck the rest of the people. THere are enough people that believe in you and your dream that you do not need to torture yourself so damn much. It's hard to watch. . .:/
  15. lol Well, I am pretty sure that those allegations of racism were what caused my exodus from those forums to this one. I think it was around that time, and I stayed because this community is awesome (not to mention the devs, mods, all seem on the same page and have a philosophy I can really put my $$ behind and support, even though I don't always agree with every course of action). @Rathlord, I wouldn't typically care about a community unless the game I am following is early access/multiplayer. . . Part of the reason why I like early access, is the fact that your voice is at least heard. That's all. That you are, at least, part of the discussion. At the Starbound forums, only the vocal minority were heard, because they were so damn loud, obnoxious, and aggressive. To make it worse, they were catered to by the moderators. My voice was not heard, and rarely was there a moment where I felt accepted despite my different perspective. Ironic, considering how they acted holier than thou. I am pretty sure I have disagreed with every person in this thread at least once, including moderators, and while we don't always see eye to eye(frequently we don't) we at least hear each other out. I know I can be kind of an ass at times, albeit not always on purpose, but I really do listen and I feel like ya'll listen even though you disagree with me. It's a totally different vibe. So, that being said, I feel that the female models were fine as they were and it seems weird to me that it was changed. I didn't see the point, honestly, and it kind of highlights for me the weird priorities that the devs have when tackling the game.I seriously think the Floran lore that was reconned, was due to the same type of philosophy that cried, "There's too much racism in the real world, why have racism in the game?" IT's really bizzare, the community acted like the game was some kind of social justice movement, or a place for ostracized people to finally be free. Any sort of RPG elements are thrown to the after burner because any difference in characters apparently "forces" people to min and max. It would cultivate prejudices. Which I find to be an absurd claim. Anyway, I am rambling now, but those people really piss me off . . . Just the level of obtuseness makes my head spin ( i am a teacher guys, so my tolerance for it is already super high). That being said, I've played with Kitt and Karen on Starbound before and it was fun. If you get a solid group of people playing, I'll maybe join in, when time permits. At least, just to check out the newest update, but bah some of the stuff that's happening in that game's development just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. . .
  16. You know, after seeing how much time chucklefish is spending on giving Female NPCs big tits, and the fact they reconned the Hyotl /Floran history . . . I don't think I will ever play Starbound again, the game caters to a toxic community, and it honestly has lost much of its allure to me. Er... source? http://playstarbound.com/meet-the-florans/ It mentions nothing of the Hytol, or whatever, the lore used to be that the Florans enslaved them and hunted them for food. I am fairly certain that the community probably hated the idea that Florans and Hytlol don't get along and forced the devs to change it . . . That is a conjecture, but a decent one considering my time spent there. I fled those forums because they were devoid of discourse, I was frequently called a racist by hysterical fans because I suggested that the different races should have different traits. Nothing game changing, but just enough to make them function slightly different. This apparently put me on the same level as Ayn Rand. As for the boobs, a friend of mine posted the images, and they just seemed a bit over the top. An indication of misspent time, for me anyway, and a lack of direction. I tried looking for the pictures that my friend linked to me, to no avail. But frankly, the game's combat is dull, and the exploration isn't fun for me. I much prefer Terraria, oddly enough. That, combined with the fact that you can rarely have intelligent or civil discourse on those forums, made me lose hope in the game.

  18. The only reason I use windows is for the compatibility reasons with gaming and other software. I've been using windows since Windows 3.1, not to mention DOS, and it's an utter load of crap. Also the fact that they don't do the best they possibly can, and instead make purposefully shitty software in an attempt to continually reel the customer back in; it makes me want be rid of Microsoft forever. Thankfully, there's a chance that with the success of the Steam Machine, Linux may take its rightful place at the top of the OS hierarchy. Even though my steam machine is going to be sick, I will probably keep this computer on WIndows until I buy another one. The new one will probably have Windows 10, and I'll put Linux onto this one. Well, I have a year or two before I buy another computer, so hopefully Windows has fallen in that time span and I can keep a Linux OS and play next gen. games/software!
  19. THis, 'nuff said. No evidence to prove all of y'all unsubstantiated opinions. It's just not true, and being a drug addict does not suddenly make you a medical or sociological expert. The statistics and facts are already in. Marijuana is not a gateway drug, and you can even check the sources I cited earlier. All notions of it being a gateway drug is complete and utter horse sniff.
  20. It's really as simple as Marinus is saying, the facts are out there people, instead of relying on paranoia and feelings with no evidence to support what you're saying; look at the facts. Criminalizing drugs does not make a society more safe, in fact, it does the opposite. Anecdotal evidence is not good for making a convincing argument . . .
  21. Kitt would be the future quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.
  22. I don't know, man. There's no serious evidence which supports that cracking down on drug abuse helps in any tangible way(excluding if you're a private prison industry and any law enforcement agency). Sociological scholars and anyone who seriously studies economics doesn't debate about this political issue because they unanimously agree that The War on Drugs is tragically wasteful. No one that's taken seriously in this field would argue otherwise (Citations: Bingham Dai, The Sociology of Drug Use;pg. 423, DATOS, Opium Abuse in Chciago). I guess people will always believe in magic. To me this whole argument is pointless. It's like arguing over whether or not grass is green.
  23. THe games are really cool and fun, but I can't get myself to purchase them. Trust me I'm not squeamish, as someone that remembers fond memories of playing Doom 2 as a seven year old, but this game is just a bit too graphic for my taste. I just can't imagine playing it for hours on end, though I have spent a good chunk of time playing it a friend's house. IT's just a bit much for my taste , which is a shame, because the story, the style, and the music are phenomenal. It is really cool (i got pretty far in the first game, I saved the woman, and I remember there was this scene where a guy is strapped to some explosives and he blows up when you try to save him). But yeah, the gratuitous violence turns me off a bit.
