  1. I've also wanted to go through with this and make a tileset but due to being a bit busy I can't at the moment. In the Map Editor download there is a "Tiles" folder. I just made a copy of that whole folder so I could edit them without worrying about messing up TileZed. Since the images are just .pngs, any editor should do fine. I used Photoshop but I'm sure Paint/GIMP would suffice. The sizes I still haven't figure out fully because some tiles are split..such as a couch having 2 sections and stairs having 3 pieces (1st-one touches floor,2nd-mid air, 3rd-Touches next floor up) and I haven't quite figured out those sizes yet. As for telling it what kind of tile it is, I would start using a "base template" such as a piece of grass if you want to do outside ground, carpet for inside, a section of stairs for stairs, want to make a wall? start with a wall, then design around that, and so on. I know there's a "Tile Properties" selection under the "Tools" drop down menu in TileZed, though I'm not 100% sure how to use it, I believe there is where you could fine-tune the properties of the tiles you're working on. I have a small example of making a tile/object here:

Hope this helps in some way, anything is possible in this game with the knowledge.

  2. I just haven't looked up what file i need to upload for ppl to use them in thier maps is all. ill get around to it at some point.

Thanks for sharing, nice buildings to start out. I believe the file you want to upload is the .tbx file that you get from the Building Editor.

  3. I will just rename the current section to custom tiles / lots!

    HA! Take that :P

Lol that's cool. Once I figure out the multi-tile objects/tile sheets- I'll pump out some more graphics. But...class comes first, thanks again for messing up my sleep schedule to whoever released these tools.

  4. pretty cool!! maybe if you could make a "Project zomboid gamescreen" or PZ sidepaintings it would be..

For sure, I'[ll re-design it, those were just the first colors I slapped on it. More tweaks ahead. Possibly multiple ones, and a pinball machine once I figure out multi-tile stuffs.

Edit: Well since I can't seem to sleep. Made another skin for it, using images from PZ/ui folder.

  5. Thanks :D Maybe we could script in a little arcade game for those lonely nights in PZ (jk). Trying to figure out the tilesets better so I can create my own tile sheet. Having trouble figuring out the boundaries between an object that has multiple tiles so they align just right.

Example: All the guides are in increments of 64. 64, 128, 196, etc.. But as in this picture..the last one crosses over which is making me question where EXACTLY the cross-over point is between multiple tile objects is. Trying to eventually create a base template that would be easy to use. Maybe after proper sleep.

Also wondering if there's a specific pixel amount surrounding objects such as these dressers. Or is it using the measurements of one tile for the vertical difference?

  6. (I'm not sure which way the pixels have to be if you'd want a 3x5 map for example, but it is either 900x1500 or 1500x900 I'll update when I get the info...)

Was messing with this a bit earlier and found its pretty easy. I first tried 900high X 1500wide but it placed the map on the left diagonal plane (not the way I wanted). So all I did was rotate the map and map_veg 90 degrees and it turned it in the direction I wanted to. Example in pics. Thanks again for this tutorial, helped tons and exactly what I was looking for.

So placing the map like this in Photoshop...

Will result in the map dragging into WorldEd in this orientation...

BUT if the map was horizontal in Photoshop, it would face the opposite of the way shown here in WorldEd.

  7. Just wanted to say thank you for all this information. I've been watching videos and reading up trying to learn LUA to make something myself. Doesn't seem that bad once you get the idea. Also just browsing the JavaDoc gives you plenty of ideas of what's capable. Keep this thing updated, nice central place to go for essential modding information.

Edit: After thinking a bit, why do you think the point values for RGB are from 0 to 1? And not 0-255 like any regular color selector. I think a visual palette selector for color would be a great addition. I wonder if this can be changed or was done for a reason.

  8. Hmm I don't think you could ever have too much food items. How about drinks as well? Possible each food/drink item add/subtracting attributes, say some Mountain Dew (my favorite :P) would make you move a bit faster, add health, but possibly make you more hungry. Just throwing ideas out there. As for food... some ideas that came to mind:

-Canned Goods (Baked beans, corn, soup (tomato, broc & cheese, chicken noodle, etc),

-MRE's (Meal Ready to Eat, check it out if you're not sure what they are)

    -Bacon (Every game needs bacon)

-Rice (grow also?)+ Fish (diff types?) = Sushi   w/ that Soy Sauce already mentioned

Could be Bowl of rice, w/ or w/o soy sauce, same for sushi w/different types of fish

    -Burgers/Hotdogs

-Sardines (EWW!! I know, but they last years)

-Pies (I see fruits, could grow fruits and wheat to make dough then make pies)

-Cakes (Side Note: TWINKIES and other delicious Hostess-like snacks, doughnuts?)

-Candy Bars & other sweets (chocolate, etc)

    -I love the pizza idea.

And then curious about the possibility of drinks. Everyone's favorite soda, beverage, alcohol. Let me know what you think, I'm just brainstorming out loud here.

More variety is better, I just think it needs to be done tastefully.(No pun intended lol)
