Masmassu reacted to gdsergio_ in More deep music integration
I've been thinking for a while that the game could use a little more deep music integration, there's already instruments and tapes in the game, so the amount of time it would take to do depends on how deep the devs want to go.

As an example, for playable instruments, I don't think it's necessary to add a whole skill for each of them, but I wouldn't complain if it was done that way; and playing an instrument (besides alerting nearby zeds) could have different effects on your character such as lowering your depression or your boredom if you can't or don't want to go outside.

The way I think it should be done, and the way it's been done in other games, is you have a folder in the game's directory where you can download and store .midi files that you can then play ingame with any of the instruments, wether it's from the steam workshop, or from any other source.

Something else I've thought of is music tapes, say you want to listen to some tunes while you're on the road; because adding original music and or voice acting would be too expensive and time consuming, I suggest just having a different folder for these, with .mp3 files.

It could be integrated into the game as a "mixtape" tape you find in a store, or someone's house, or a custom radio station, that you can play in the car, again, it would alert nearby zombies but it would help with depression or boredom.

For obvious reasons, it would also make MP a lot more fun in the endgame, say you've already made a safe base with friends and food and water aren't a problem anymore, you can play songs with other people, or host a concert, or whatever; the only limit is your imagination.

There are many things in the world that can be used to improve interaction since the last patch but which have not been given the correct use, things like air conditioning, for example, that just one more sprite in homes that could be very useful on hot days or heating on cold days, it could also be very useful that the clotheslines can be used, and another thing that would be great would be an automatic irrigation system through hoses. In order to automate the farming system a bit in the late game, things like this would greatly improve some issues in the game and make the use of certain items in the world more interactive.

This game has gotten bigger over the last 2 months and with that i believe a PZ store that sells spiffo plushies, keychains etc. might be a viable option for the company at this point in development. I would love to support the developers by getting a spiffo plushie to cry into when my 5 month old character bites the dust. I don't know if indie stones has already said that they will not be making a merch store but i still think it would be a welcome addition to PZ.

Farming MP idea Hi there, here a suggestion about farming.Would it be possible to create a small system that when planting stuff on ground safe house, when you quit everything froze as well?I mean food rotting, plant needs and your gens ect...Right now if you play on a heavy populated server and the server never pause you are facing a big problem over time.If you sleep IRL more then 6 hours if you come back into the game there a great chance that plants will be dead and gen empty.   An other idea that i got to expand the first idea would be some kind of flag that we drop near safe house to expand it(most be connected to safe house to advoid mp grief). This could be expanded lil futher with faction system where faction can slowly grab land by unlocking them via the new tech tree coming or other system based on number of player inside the faction.Anyway each player should be able to expand it at least 1 time.So garden remain protected by the first idea i had when player is offline.   Cheer D3st

There's not much to explain, bodies shouldn't just be traits. Fat zombies have reduced mobility, make more noise (which may attract more zombies to you), can break wooden fences but cannot go through small windows, the same should be true for the player, but him could not jump high fences. .

Masmassu reacted to Mirankor in Items that just make sense, and other thoughts
So I want to start this off with, I want to make everything have both an upside and a downside. (Also hi there beautiful)
I may add, remove things as I go along. Obviously if the majority of people DON'T want something in the game, then it's going to be chopped.

     Every Day Items:
Shopping carts - They are everywhere. Personally I feel like having two different kinds and nothing else would be best. The loud, squeaky, rattling metal ones (Can be treated with oil to reduce squeak), as well as the almighty plastic ones that always seemed to be much quieter. Of course they should be damageable, but also repairable. Bicycles - Should be pretty rare to find. The downside to them being that well... If your character is panicking too much, you're going to fall off. Also if you ride into a hoard you aren't likely to make it out alive. Roller-skates/Rollerblades - On foot travel at it's fastest. Downside is that slowing down and stopping isn't immediate. It's also unwise to fight with them on. Taking them off would also take some time, so you would only use them to get somewhere faster, while consuming less energy.
     More Crafting Options:
Electrical - Right now, Electrical doesn't really have anything interesting. You can use it to hotwire cars in conjunction with Mechanic at 1st level. You can use it to connect batteries to lamps at 5th level. Other than that, it severely falls short (In my opinion) and it takes so much to level even to the 3rd pip. There's also no other option for constant light in a safe zone without running a generator until you inevitably drain the map of fuel. My suggestions are as follows: Alternate Energy - Not going to mention anything too grandiose, just hear me out. The waterwheel and the windmill were two of the earliest forms of electricity production. They didn't provide some massive supply, most were just to provide power for lights. (Which honestly is my main concern) Adding these two into the electrical craft, would make things a lot more interesting. Waterwheel - A simple, early age build. Consisting of mainly wood, so it would be electrical + carpentry. Only useful at the river, or if a running stream is added later, there as well but less powerful. Also very noisy, so be prepared. Windmill - Solely dependent on if the sky spirits decide to bless your life and make the wind blow. This would be a small build, likely a single tile or upwards to a 2x2 square. It generates little at low wind, and more the harder the wind blows. It shouldn't produce that much power on it's own, for balance reasons. It should also require harder to find or carry parts, as it will consist mainly of metal. Metalworking + Electrical for this one. The idea for this one, is that a single windmill is only useful for powering 2-3 lamps, and it has to be used in conjunction with scavenged car batteries in order to store some energy. And on that note, Car Batteries - We all know they are more useful than just being used in cars. People jury rigged them as a power supply well before the early 90's. The idea isn't to really add anything, but to allow you to connect a car battery to a cable, and power lamps until the battery is depleted. Or of course, to store power from windmills. This is just because they weigh a lot more, are limited, but also have a large energy supply compared to regular batteries. This one is a far fetched one, and I doubt it will ever be a thing, but Solar Panels - This is more of a time waster. It also will produce the least energy because of the crafting supplies. Solar powered watches and calculators were actually very popular during the 80's and early 90's. The only issue is that they run on such little energy, that you would need a large amount of the foraged panels in order to even power a light. A better panel could also be found extremely rarely due to obvious reasons, but might be able to consistently power a single refrigerator. As I said, far fetched, which is why it's in red lol.       2. Farming - I haven't done much in relation to farming, but I do have a few things that could be added in relation to the skill.
Digging Holes - I know a lot of people are going to see this and think, "Is a trench really a good idea?". My answer to that is, well, obviously. Anyone with a little experience playing with dirt can dig a hole, but don't worry, there's a major downside to digging a trench. Two actually. The first downside? Water. When it rains, much like with bowls, pots, etc. it will collect water and eventually fill. This makes it useless for it's intended purpose. The second downside? Comes from the intended purpose. Whether you use it to surround your base, or put spikes into it to deal some damage to players, the problem is still going to occur. The holes are going to fill with zombs, or humans. Dead or alive. Allowing others to eventually just avoid it entirely. It's a decent defense, but requires a lot of maintenance or else you're done for. An addition to the Rain Collector Barrels, a Filtration System - This is something many Amish here in Kentucky use (Yes I live here...) in order to clean water. It is a multipart, meaning multi-block, system, that uses things from different facets of life. This would go great with the Tailoring skill, because you could create replaceable cloth/mesh filters for it. Other than that, it uses mainly stone and the power of actually running along said stones, to clean it and make it at the very least, safe for consumption. The Rain Collector will be placed on top of the starting block and collect water like normal. Drip Irrigation - High level of farming required for this one. It's essentially an automated watering system. It should be one of the two end-goals for the farming tree. It works in a similar way to the water bags used by hospitals (Which goes way back). It would require adding tubing to the game, and each plant would require a portion of said tubing to be connected to the system. This way you can build rain collectors nearby, which constantly water the plants when it isn't raining. As I said, high skill level required. Preferably level 8-10. Greenhouse - Straightforward, but the other end goal for farming. Allowing plant growth in the winter, though in much smaller quantities. This can be either a separate construction, or each plant having it's own craft able cell. Also capable of being connected to the previous so that you can provide the water from somewhere indoors if you prefer. Takes quite a few materials, for each cell, or each wall, whichever.
I'd also like to see plumbing in the game, seeing as that's not electricity based, but that's a topic for discussion with the community, as it would add a potentially useless skill to the list.

If I think of anything else, I'll add it later. I do like someone else's suggestion for blacksmithing, but that would fall under metalworking imo. Hope this isn't too much of a read. I wanted to get my point's across as best as I could! Let me know what you think though, so I can adjust some things if need be.

Agree, the notification is absolutely necessary.

Also, I'd like to see a server option which, when SleepAllowed=true and SleepNeeded=false, toggles SleepNeeded to true when a given percentage of players are asleep. It's annoying when most players want to fast forward, but some lone wolf decides not to, and this would conveniently highly encourage them to go to sleep.

    Hi, I have a suggestion/request
Could we get a tooltip or notification or moodlet to indicate how many of the player population in the server are currently sleeping?
Additionally could you also apply the same "time advance because all players are sleeping" effect to actions which have a green progress bar? So for example if 3/4  players are tired and sleeping but I am not, I can read a book and the time will advance quickly, or saw a load of logs?
I guess it might not be easy for short actions like transferring items but it would be great to speed read a book while others are sleeping

Masmassu reacted to Susp3kt in Server Options to Reduce Griefing On a PvP server.
Hi, I'm a player on the Server 'US EAST 1', and the players (and owner now) are having a pretty big issue with people dying, respawning, and then repeatedly attacking a player or their safehouse with 0 repercussions. Since they've already died, they have nothing to lose, so what these players will do, is they'll set up a safehouse right next to the safehouse they want to attack, and then over the span of hours respawn 10s, if not 100s of times, attempting to grief the base and kill the owner. The defending party in this circumstance can only leave the game in retaliation (We have 'No Trespass' set to safehouse when the owner of the safehouse is offline).

So the only way to stop being harassed for hours, upon hours. Is to simply not play the game. We've experimented with solutions to this problem, like making it so it takes multiple IRL hours to turn PvP on, but all this does is create "Green Bandits" that essentially will do the same thing, but with the owner being completely unable to do anything but leave.

I'd like to suggest a few new server options.

Under PvP, a "DaysSurvivedToPvP'. This option would require the player to survive for a set amount of in-game days in order to flag red for PvP. They would still be able to defend themselves from other players flagged red, but they wouldn't be able to harass players with the intent of killing them anymore.

Under Safehouse, 'PvPRequiredToLoot' and 'PvPRequiredToRaid'. The former would make it so that you can enter player safehouses (When uninvited) but you wouldn't be able to pick anything up, or interact with anything in the house. The latter would essentially act as an invisible barrier that wouldn't allow any uninvited players with PvP off to enter, however, when you turn PvP on, you would be able to enter the house freely.

With both 'DaysSurvivedToPvP' and 'PvPRequiredToRaid' we could easily prevent griefers from raiding player bases incessantly with 0 risk and effectively forcing the defender of the safehouse to play another game for a few hours, but sadly, these options aren't in the game.

Masmassu reacted to Jeust in Color Blind support
Targeting color being green/red/orange cuts colour blind people out of this whole section of the game as we can't tell if its red or green.
Please add an option to change this, or add a different mechanism.
Blue is quite visible for me, but color blindness varies a lot so best option would be an alternative mechanism (e.g. a symbol over the target)
Next best if you want to stick with outlines is let people choose the colour (or from a selection e.g. red/green, blue/yellow etc)

Targeting is the main issue, but other (minor) improvements would be:
    2. the highlight on containers is not always clear depending on the base colour of the container.
    3. the map colours. a symbol to go with each colour would be useful. doesn't have to mean something, could just be a + - * ^ etc.
