  1. My idea was that it would reduce glare and stuff from the sun, just wasn't sure how that would effect the game. That just happened to be the first thing I thought of.
  2. Most of the time when the power goes out, my character has no need to leave their safe haven, and as such, I notice very little about the outside world. My current character went out scavenging late one night and found that lamp posts, outdoor lamps, and lamps stay on after the power goes out until you remove the light bulb. That just kinda killed the realism for me. I would like it if when the power goes out, all the power goes out unless something is hooked up to a generator
  3. Here are my following ideas for various type of clothing and their benefit Temperature Ratings none light moderate- chilly heavy- cold extreme- freezing Armor Ratings none light- protects from fists, bites moderate- protects from blunt and bladed weapons heavy- protects from bullets. Concealment Ratings none light- blends in moderate- conceals identity heavy- chance not to be seen when blending in Head Army Helmet- Heavy head armor Bike Helmet- Moderate head armor Baseball Cap- blocks sun glare, improves aim Motorcycle Helmet- Moderate head and face armor/ concealment Wool Cap- Light temperature Eyes Glasses- counteracts Nearsighted trait Goggles- Light eye armor Sunglasses- blocks sun glare, improves aim Face Bandana- Light temperature Gas Mask- Moderate concealment, protection from airborne contaniments Ski Mask- Heavy temperature, Moderate concealment Surgical Mask- Protection from airborne illness Welding Mask- Moderate face armor Torso Button-Up shirt- Moderate temperature Hoodie- Heavy temperature Jacket- Moderate temperature Kevlar Vest- Heavy torso armor Leather Jacket- Light torso armor Life Jacket- prevents drowning Long Sleeves- Moderate temperature T-Shirt- Light temperature Tank Top- Light temperature Legs Cargo Pants- Moderate temperature, pockets for use as containers Cargo Shorts- Light temperature like cargo pants, but less pockets Gym Shorts- Light temperature, slightly faster running speed Jeans- Moderate temperature Skirt- Light temperature Sweatpants- Heavy temperature Feet Boots- Light foot armor, slight increase to stomp damage Flip Flops- slightly faster to put on Mud Boots- counter acts slower speeds from getting wet Sneakers- slightly faster running speed Snow Boots- Moderate temperature Snow Shoes- lets you walk on deep snow Outfits (the only difference is that these take up 2 or more clothing slots) Bio-Hazard Suit- Light armor, protection from illness Camouflage- Light concealment in forest Dress- better interaction with male npcs if female Gilly Suit- Heavy concealment in forest I'm sure there are some things I'm missing. I left out career based clothing and homemade clothing on purpose. Some types of clothing overlap (jacket over a t-shirt for example) Let me know what you think and any ideas you have, and as always, thanks for reading.
  4. I like the preset NPCs, but only as a sandbox option, where you could choose which ones to use and which ones not to use if you so chose to use preset groups. I agree with HungerJohn in that things should be different every time. Here are some groups that would be cool presets. Most of them are based off of some from the book I'm writing that may or may not ever get published. Either way, here goes. 1. FEMA- there is a point in the beggining where the main characters end up at a FEMA shelter and get to see how everything there falls apart. having a refugee center of some kind would be nice. 2. This is actually two different groups that are opposite sides of the same coin. One is a group that has walled of a section of their town and tries to emulate puritan beliefs, while the other lives in a nearby town and they are a group of Satanists, and the survivors in the areas in between are plagued with the war these two groups are in, having to deal with trouble from both sides. 3. Scavengers- at one point when the main character's group is moving to another base, o few of his people that stayed behind for a few days got attacked by a group of rag-tag of survivors that had made all of their stuff with scraps of other things, like a shield that used to be a stop sign, for example. 4. Cannibals- this is pretty self explanatory. In my book however, it's a little more complex. They live in a cave near a large town, and they lure people in by giving them shelter (at the point the main characters meet them, it's in the middle of a particularly harsh winter) then trap them inside and eat them. those are just a few of the encounters my characters have faced, and with all of them there is a lot more going on then just what I put, but I figured that this would suffice.
  5. Nice idea, but I agree in that some of those traits are unbalanced. Nice idea, but I think we could extend somethings similar too a Vegan trait.
  6. I found a grill in game and decided to keep it and stock up on charcoal, so that when the power ran out, I could cook as much meat as possible and it wouldn't go to waste. Here are some suggestions I have for Grills and BBQ More BBQ food- barbecue sauce, ribs, etc. NO using them inside to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation. Some alterable factors, like with stoves. Not sure as to what those would be (I don't use a grill) but it would add something too it. Other just general food things I have are here. Cold packs should stay good for a while if kept cold. Once the power is out, they should be able to be used to keep food good fro a little while. Condiments- Tartar Sauce, Relish, etc. Seafood- currently the only 'seafood' in game is fish that you catch and canned tuna. My idea was stuff like store bought stuff(shellfish, various other ocean fish, etc.) Junk food- surprisingly there aren't some common junk foods in game. Cookies are non existent, and cakes and pies are only in slices, same with pizza, which would be found whole occasionally. That's pretty much it for now. Let me know what you think, and as always, thanks for reading.
  7. So essentially like Michones pets or something similar right? Once upon a time, I had a list of ideas for said zombie slaves, a.k.a., Zlaves. here is what I had 1.) Carriers- you keep them on a leash and use them to carry your stuff by tying bags to them. 2.) Guards- you tied them to a fence or a stake. a.)You could even plant thorn bushes or poison ivy near there feet so that over time they would be covered in thorns or poison ivy. 3.) Fighters- You could do a variety of things to make zombies deadlier (replacing fingers or hands with blades, covering them in spikes, putting them in armor, etc.) one really cool idea I had for these actually came from a dream in which an enemy group jammed razor blades in between zombie teeth and then super glued them in. 4.) Pullers- used to pull things. a.) You could attach them to a wagon and essentially use a carrot on a stick to move them forward- only instead of a carrot, a cage with a small animal is used b.) Essentially like 4a, but use more than one to turn large cranks to make power or to grind flour, like a windmill. There are many other possibilities and some of the things I put up are probably unrealistic, but this is what I have.
  8. I always thought that'd be cool. You should also be able to find the alarms and try to take them, with a high chance of breaking without electrical skill, like with other things. I'd be the guy though that even if I don't have one, I'd just grab a sign here or there and the next thing you know I have 30 in my front yard
  9. I don't want to rush the vehicle update or nag or anything, I just have an idea or two. My main reason for making this post is because I'm currently righting a zombie story, as those that read DTSSD-Ryan know (link will be provided below). Currently in the draft I'm writing, the main characters are going into winter, and currently just live in some tents in a baseball field. They need shelter fast, as to avoid the freezing cold. I will soon add in a travel trailer they find and decide to live in for a while. As I was thinking about how I would add this in my story, I thought of how cool it would be to live in a travel trailer. You'd need to have a truck to pull it, but with some gas you could move your home anywhere your vehicle could go.Having said that, my suggestion is the addition of travel trailers and RVs in the vehicle update, or an update later to come. Below is a link to the short story I mentioned earlier. It has the same characters as the one I'm currently writing, but the one below is from Ryan's perspective, and the one that's a WIP is from his best friend Stan's POV. As always, thanks for reading.
  10. Thanks for the comments, they make a lot of sense. On the part about tools for moving couches, you've lsot me. I never understood why you need a hammer just to move a cabinet or a bookshelf.
  11. Me and a friend of mine where taking turns on my PC playing zomboid. At one point he got trapped upstairs in his house and was barricading a room to hide in/possibly make a stand. He is a recent player, and asked if he could move things to barricade. I said yes, and his first move was to place a normal chair that you can walk through in front of the door. Me: "What did you do that for?' Friend: 'I set the chair in front of it to block the zombies' Me: 'they can just walk through it like u can.' Friend: "Can I put it under the doorknob to jam the door?" Me: "No.' Friend: 'why not?! That's just kinda stupid' So I thought about this for a while, and he has a point. Chairs should have some functionality other than resting and sleepingn As always, thanks for reading.
  12. Yeah, but you'd also have to make sure you got the right casing. In The Walking Dead when Rosita had Eugene make the bullet for her, the shell casing was wrong for the gun, meaning realistically none of the aftermath would've happened. Not trying to bash the show, a really big fan, just giving an example.
  13. I never said blade making is hard, I'm just saying some things would be hard, such as bullet making. The bullet itself would be easy, but you'd have to find a way to make it the right size for your gun.
  14. I like that swimming is a skill, but I also think there should be a negative perk where you can't swim.
  15. yeah, u have a point. I think that some things would be hard though, like making the bullet the right size for your gun.
  16. I agree with the too minecrafty thing, but i think the digging might be cool. P.S. Don't now if this idea's any good, but what about using the pick axe as a weapon?
  17. I've noticed a lack of a few things, hence the title. Propane Tanks I've seen the hand held 20 pounder in game, but non of the gigantic ones that heat homes and store lots. Sewers In game, there is no need to urinate/defecate, but if your like me you'd rather travel through the awful and smelly sewer than out on the open down-town street. Power Lines This has been talked about before, but I figure I'd say it here too. Bath tubs & Showers Like I said, hygiene isn't an issue, but you should be able to fill up your sinks and bath tubs with water by clogging or putting a stopper on the drain. Heating and ACs There also seems to be a complete lack of air conditioners and heaters. ACs and fans could cool you down if there's power, and a handy space heater could keep you toasty inside. Fireplaces Fire stoves are a thing, but I think that fireplaces should be available and would work pretty much the same as heaters. Radios I have just one thing on this subject: the ability to broadcast something on single player. essentially if another player was playing and listening on on single player, they'd hear and could respond. Don't know how hard that'd be, but it seems like it'd be kinda neat. That's pretty much it for now. I know I went a little of topic in some places, but the main things for me are the top three items. And as always, thanks for reading.
  18. This is more of what I was thinking, a way to kill the helicopter, or at least make it go away.
  19. sounds cool, couldn't get the website to load, are there any mods?
  20. Once upon a time, I saw a listened to the radio and heard in game that it was suspected to come from chemical dumps nearby. I was watching NOVA last night (this will make sense in a minute, bare with me) and it was about nuclear power. In that episode it mentioned the town of Paducah Kentucky. If I remember correctly (I was half asleep, so I may not remember correctly) they said there was a nuclear waste dump in the area. This was just an idea I had, maybe (a long time from now, I'm not expecting anything soon) Paducah could be added to the map, and maybe the radio transmissions could mention it. Just some thoughts I had late last night.
  21. I get what you mean. It should at least stay with the special zombies that are coming up, like the ones in police uniforms or other special clothing.
  22. An add on I have is kind of a biggie that i learned re-watched some of season three of The Walking Dead. In this particular episode, they were killing zombies in the prison. After killing some, they noticed that a few were wearing civilian clothing. they figured either there was a breach, or that they were visitors that got killed when the prison was besieged by the zombie virus. My idea from this was that zombies have to stay the same looking so you could gather intel on this. An example of how I know that doesn't happen is when I was patrolling the fence to my base. There was one zombie that was a ways off, and hadn't came over. I patrol my base a few times, and each time the zombie looked different. She was a white woman and was blonde She was a white woman and had brown hair She was a black woman and was gray haired He was an elderly white man with grey hair and a sweater, which none of the others had. Finally, she was white and had gray hair It would be great if this could be fixed, as it really kills immersion.
  23. https://map.projectzomboid.com/#0.16450511240057292,0.1504418617184898,85.59456430325756 I barricaded all of the broken windows and had blocked off the 2 low points in the fence. I've run up the fence many times killing zombies, never found a way out.
  24. ME personally I just hit the random button on everything and hope I get good traits No joke! I like going against adverse traits. I just wish they had a random buttons for towns.
