  1. The whole 'Don't tip unless there's a tipping jar' is not really true. Having eaten out in Dublin many times over the course of the years, I can say that tipping is still something that is prevalent in society. Whenever I eat amongst a group the first thing we do after getting the bill is to chip in for the tip. If you don't tip however you won't get accosted, something that might be the case in America for example. I was also surprised to hear that tipping taxi drivers is a common thing in America, which I can't get my head around...
  2. I have slightly over 30 high quality swords, being an avid collector of sharp pointy things... And I'm sure I can probably make an improvised weapon out of most of the stuff in my house.
  3. This can be settled quite easily by watching this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywfzniko4vQ
  4. ... So, you take issue with me for saying that the Irish language sounds rough and that I apparently can't see any beauty in this country (despite saying Cork is a beautiful city and Wicklow) but your going to pack your bags the first chance you get! You also say "Which no one would accept because most probabley wouldn't want to leave their county of birth" which doesn't make much sense to me. Most of the stuff you've been saying to be fair is rather off the mark and I wouldn't regard it as a true representation of Ireland, but each to his own, I just can't take what your saying as serious anymore. This is actually starting to turn into a jest now.
  5. You seem to be unable to find any beauty in this country or it's culture, judging by your last few posts, try being more positive, there And you seem to be far too naive and should be taking my comments with a grain of salt if you are indeed Irish rather than what you seem to view as a negative attack considering the context of this thread is more inline with a 'jest' than anything above being serious. Perhaps you would prefer if I instead went down to the local tourist shop in Dublin and took a viewpoint that most of the tourist cards seem to have and show nothing but absolute high praise? Also don't see anything in my posts that could be viewed as negative unless your the sort that reads too much into things. You should respect other opinions rather than try to attack those that don't conform to your point of view.
  6. Yeah its a shame about the Irish dialect. It's still prevalent down in the country in some remote parts but its pretty much non-existent in the likes of Dublin and that. I do know a bit of Irish myself but I have to honestly say its a horrible sounding language and while the Carlsberg advert few years back tried to make it sound 'sexy', it really isn't in reality.
  7. Cork is actually a lovely city, far nicer than Dublin, as much as it pains me to say that. I've been tempted to make a move down there myself.
  8. Dublin for the nightlife, don't expect to be wowed by the beauty of Dublin, because there isn't any... And then the country for the 'authentic' feel of Ireland. There's some great hiking spots along the Wicklow way that I would recommend anyone coming to Ireland to go and do some trekking.
  9. As an Irishman I do not condone this thread nor do I condone the treasured secrets that are being handed out here... (or rather lack of such secrets) Also, anyone who has Irish in their username is not Irish but an imposter, and must be sent up the north beyond the great wall. @Keepbro An Irishman's intellectual pursuits are boosted by downing a pint of the black stuff, so yes... I shall answer said question after a few pints.
  10. I find the game a lot more enjoyable with .23 update now. Whatever performance optimizations they've made they fixed my game stuttering that I used to get all the time.
  11. Loving the system, does make the pvp mechanic all the more flexible which is a good thing. It may indeed also have the knock-on effect of reducing kill-on-sight situations.
  12. How is npc relationships with multiple player characters going to function in multiplayer? Will the npcs including the meta system for them retain all/majority of their singleplayer function when made available in multiplayer?
  13. Yet she doesn't mind drinking bottled water which ends up soaking up more chemicals from the plastic itself?
  14. Had the most peculiar round I ever had on SS13, on the Paradise server today. I logged in just as the round started and because all the good positions were taken I decided to observe the game and come in as an npc, so I picked Ian the dog. So, spawned into the HoPs office and because the HoP wasn't moving from his office, I chucked myself into the disposal unit and managed to free myself when I got into cargo. Then I just went about the station as normal and saw the Janitor pushing his cart along. Because his name was Roger Wilco, I couldn't help the overwhelming urge to steal his bucket, which I did. As I ran about the station in dog form with the bucket behind me, and the janitor chasing me, I found that the back entrance leading into the Captains office was open, all the doors leading up this office were forced open. So I went in, and the janny followed. Then the Captain suddenly walks in and because I'm in dog form I can't understand what they're saying fully, I only get partial bits. But I can tell the Captain wasn't happy, thinking the Janitor had just broke into his office, and he subsequently stunned him and then called security who came and cuffed him. At that point it appeared that the Captain's office was broken into and his display case was smashed. He started motioning for me to sniff around so I just played along, sniffing the broken glass and then barking towards Roger Wilco, as if to indicate guilt. The detective came and I assumed he ruled out Wilco's involvement because they released him, and Wilco let out a frown and a glare towards me as he left So the Captain was motioning for me to do more sniffing, which I did. So I went down towards engineering and into atmospherics where there was a atmos tech, who I started sniffing at and barking. The Captain withdrew his gun and told the tech to drop all his gear for inspection. I have absolutely no idea what was being said but it appears my sniffing senses were right this time. So back to the Captains office, and the cap had given me my own doggy armor and hat and I became known as Captain Ian, the faithful hound! And then the Slimes came.... A big giant slime had crawled through the vent and started attacking the Captain. I tried blocking its attempts by getting in the way, however, as I did the Captain let off a round from his energy gun (set to kill) and manage to hit me instead by accident, which was followed by screams and possibly a mental breakdown from the Captain. Most fun I've had in SS13 for quite sometime now...
  15. I just read this - http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/01/06/im-a-survivor-dayz-standalone-thoughts/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rockpapershotgun%2Fsteam+%28Rock%2C+Paper%2C+Shotgun%3A+Steam+RSS%29 - And noticed something peculiar; there isn't a single mention about the zombies. For an article covering a supposedly zombie survival game, you'd imagine they take focus, right? While DayZ is certainly at very early stages, I'd imagine that Rocket would employ more emphasis on zombies this time round because otherwise, once again, it will just turn into another pvp death match. It really doesn't give out much hope when I see an article that goes on about how DayZ has changed and improved but not a single mention to zombies is given.
  16. Looks like a sort of exploration library of space. If I were to imagine KSP on an intergalactic scale this wouldn't be it, but the tech behind it looks impressive for a small and free game, if you can call it that. Just doesn't seem to have much substance behind it; I can see myself getting bored of this very quickly. I'd imagine this sort of thing would be more appealing to anyone who actively engages in astronomy.
  17. Just start a server on your own and learn to do the role that your interested in. It's relatively easy; its how I learned to do the mining job.
  18. I had an interesting game before when I was rping a very blunt and rowdy bartender. Then the clown came in and started upsetting my customers and sprayed water into my face, causing me to beat the clown to near death which resulted in me being arrested and half the station going in uproar over there being no bartender to serve drinks. Another game some mad scientist came into my bar and did some very good roleplay with me half of which I didn't quite understand; something about wanting to sell me some drugs. Later on he persuaded me to go with him and I ended up stepping into what I think was the gene splicer (?) and started messing around with my genes..
  19. Another ambitious procedural space game by an indie studio, Pulsar is a exploratory focused co-op with up to 5 players on a single ship. Looks intriguing, not going to get my hopes up though! http://pulsarthegame.com/blog/
  20. Surprised nobody has come up yet with a Project Zomboid SS 13 server yet... The only memorable story I have of SS13 is about me and a friend of mine who were both miners mining outside on the asteroid/moon. It was my mates first go as a miner so I was showing him the ropes. We ended up mining separate tunnels but we weren't far from one another; so after doing some digging I notice a lone miner coming up behind me with nothing in his hand. I instantly get a bad feeling about this and I ask him what's he doing. Next thing he attacks me with some sort of pincer and I get paralyzed; then he proceeds to choke me while I try to shout out for help which doesn't do any good. He kills me and then he proceeds to do the same to my mate further down who I could have warned out of game, but decided against it. Turns out the killer was a changeling and we were his first victims. Eventually my body gets discovered (my friends body got dumped floating into space, ha!) and a group of scientist players took my brain and ended up putting me into a security combat robot. I told them what had happened but I didn't know my killers name and more deaths were piling up so I went about the station in my new robotic form looking for my killer. Fortunately, some dip-dob messed up in the viral lab and we all had to evacuate the station. I say fortunately because my changeling killer went banana's on the shuttle trying to kill everyone up until the point that I stunned him and pretty much everyone started kicking his head in. Fun
  21. No, I mean Kahuna.. 4. Kahuna's testicle's, balls, nuts, gutsI don't have the Kahuna's to try that stunt.Did you see him do that 1/2 gainer from 40' ? Wish I had the Kahuna's to try that! kahunas Australian slang for testicles. Probably came about as a confusion between spanish cohones and hawaiian kahuna. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=kahunas
  22. What is a cahoona? Are we talking Kahona, or cojones? Cahoona is a type of steak that's made from space factory-grown cattle on giant space stations. Yes, Rocket hasn't got the steaks for it! ... Ehem, actually I meant Kahuna, ie balls/nuts.
  23. Sadly I don't think Rocket has the cahoona's to deal with the problem. What I mean by that is I don't foresee him tackling the issue of murdering players for the fun of it because he has always been rather laid back in his approach in implementing anti-bandit mechanics. Perhaps the new team at DayZ SA will push for some new original ideas but I'd place my bets that it will remain the same largely because they don't want to alienate the bandit players. I've also seen other mods for DayZ try to do the same and all have ultimately failed. DayZ Origins nearly got it right but they didn't go all the way largely out of fear for their community. The only way to effectively deal with the issue of shoot-on-site policy that most players have is to have an improved optimized in-game voice mechanic, an effective reward/ punishment system for bandits/heroes, much much harsher loot system with limited ammo/weapons and lastly proper zombies that are a threat. If he nails all that down then DayZ could potentially become what it should be; a survival game about surviving the elements, the players and most important of all, the zombies. Rather than what the mod is currently which is mostly about pvp between groups of players and nothing else since the survival mechanics are incredibly weak.
