  1. I just installed the game on my work computer (shh!), and I'm having trouble with the inventory box. The items listed in the containers overlap the container icons on the right side of the box so I can't click on the individual containers. Expanding/resizing the inventory box doesn't help. I have to position myself perfectly so I can access each individual container. It makes looting kitchen cabinets and warehouse crates very difficult. I haven't tried out build 33 on my home PC yet, not sure if its some setting on my work computer screwing with it. Anyone else seen this? Edit: Figured it out. I play the game windowed, if the game starts in a smaller window it throws off the layout of the inventory box and causes the listed items to overlap the icons for the containers. Restarting the game with a full-size window fixed it.
  2. Please put an indicator light on the oven that stays lit while the oven is on. I have officially burned to death in my sleep more times than I have been killed by zombies.
  3. I vote for manually traveling in a vehicle, just for the random circumstances that can arise. I hope the vehicles aren't too tough, IRL if you run your car into a chain link fence or hit a curb the wrong way, your car is done. Even running down zombies should be risky. If you hit a deer in a modern car (I can't be the only one with that experience) there is a good chance your car will be badly damaged. Vehicles could be used to ram fences and gates, but they are unlikely to survive the encounter, so it would have to be used in a last-ditch, or well laid out, plan. Here are some vehicle ideas I had, with potential mods for each type. Parts would obviously need to be found to add the mods, and some would require some crafting. It would be cool to have different skins and colors for each type. Traits would be the same for each class of vehicle, they would just look different. -Bicycle: quiet, uses player's energy, no storage, 1 passenger mods: saddle bags (add small storage), bell (attract zombies) -Motorcycle: loud, good gas mileage, no storage, 2 passengers mods: saddle bags (adds small storage), storage rack (-1 passenger, adds medium storage) -Coupe (small car): good gas mileage, small storage. 4 passenger mods: reinforced bumpers (add tough trait), tune-up (better gas mileage), super charger (adds fast trait) -Sedan (large car): average gas mileage, medium storage. 4 passenger mods: reinforced bumpers (adds tough trait), tune-up (better gas mileage), luggage rack (adds large storage) -Sports car: fast, bad gas mileage, small storage. 2 passenger mods: tune-up (better gas mileage), run-flat tires (better tires) -Pick-up truck: tough, bad gas mileage, large storage. 4 passenger (2 in bed) mods: ram bar (adds tank trait), bed cap (acts like a tent), tow hitch (allows towing of generators/trailers/carts) -Hummvee: rare, tank, loud, bad gas mileage, large storage, 4 passenger. Only found at edges of map at destroyed checkpoints mods: tow hitch (allows towing), fuel cans (more fuel storage), turret (allows 1 passenger to shoot from vehicle) -Row boat: uses players energy, medium storage, 2 passenger mods: aluminum oars (reduced energy usage), sail (no energy usage) -John Boat: average gas mileage, large storage, 4 passenger mods: oars (players can row if out of fuel), clean hull (adds fast trait) Wrecked/dead cars should hold random loot and random amounts of fuel, but a siphon will be needed to get it out. Zombies could also be trapped inside on occasion. These vehicles would be legitimate obstacles that would need to be avoided while driving on the roads, as well as adding some flavor to the otherwise abandoned roads. If a vehicle has the tank trait it could be used to slowly roll up to a wrecked car and push it, allowing players to clear roads.
  4. 2 quick suggestions I couldn't find anywhere else: 1. Add a "rename" button to the load game screen. I have a ton of saved games that have dates as their names, it gets confusing. I never remember to change the name before starting a new game. I get that I can change the file name in the folder, but it would be nice to do it in the game interface. 2. Allow players to move bags around on the inventory side bar. I always carry a "gear bag" for stuff I need like a hammer, lighter, and medical supplies. I also sometimes carry a "loot bag" for stuff I want to bring back to my base, and I like to have the "gear bag" on top of the side bar on the inventory screen. If I put them both down I have to pick them up in a specific order to get them the way I like. If I could just drag and drop the bag I want on top it would be really helpful. Not game-changing stuff, but it would help me out. Thanks!
  5. I am all for composting. It could be used just like fertilizer, which is already in-game. The player should have to consteuct a compost bin to use it. I don't think it should just disappear.
  6. Im good with stock screams and stuff, maybe some text pops up over your head as you scream profanity at them. I can't stub my toe without making inflammatory statments about the door frames intelligence, I seriously doubt I'd remain silent if a zombie took a chunk out of my arm. It would alert nearby zombies/NPCs/PCs. It would add some immersion if your looting with a buddy and suddenly you start hearing screams from the next room, with text popping up saying "get the f**k off of me!"
  7. I was thinking it could be an option in sandbox, I get that having a permanent limp would turn some people off. I feel like it would add some spice to MP.
  8. I've been burned by YouTube several times, making things look really easy when they aren't. I found a couple of articles about DIY metallurgy, it is possible though difficult. A smelter would be difficult to make from scratch, and would require several new loot items in-game. I support deconstructing stuff to get nails, using a hammer and screwdriver. Metallurgy would be best as a mod, not added to vanilla PZ. I'd rather the devs spend their time optimising the game and getting big features added. But I still want my crown.
  9. I'd like to see holsters and slings, as of now I don't carry guns due to weight. A holster or sling could keep the weapon in your main inventory, but reduce the weight when it's not in your hands.
  10. I did some quick research and making a backyard forge wouldn't be that difficult as it turns out. Making the actual smelter would require some specialized parts, and a constant fuel source like propane tanks. I think the rarity of fuel would balance it out nicely. I don't want to be able to make a full suit of armor, but melting forks and stuff to make nails, basic knives, and ax heads would be cool. Probably best as a mod. YES!!! PZ Game of Thrones! I will be known as the King of the Seven Kingdoms of Kentucky! I shall smelt an Iron Throne using the axes, golf clubs, and butter knives of my fallen enemies. My reign will be violent, merciless, and likely very brief.
  11. I wouldn't do it myself, but running into a lunatic NPC who eats and decorates with people would be interesting. I feel like it would be a "shoot first" kind of situation. That dude is definitely NOT joining my group. I agree it would probably be better as a mod.
  12. I'm good with using the default scream sounds that are in-game now. Maybe add a rage-scream (i.e. charging Viking) and whimpering sound effects to round it out.
  13. Backsmithing isn't more complicated than medicine, just far rarer. There are millions of doctors and nurses all over the world today, and maybe a handful of blacksmiths. Sure, millions of people do metal working, but most of that is automated at this point. There are plenty of people who still make things the old-fashioned way, but they are few and far between. I do agree there needs to be a way to make or reclaim nails. I've seen suggestions where we can take apart things like doors and bookcases without smashing them with a sledgehammer. It would take longer but would yeild some usable materials. Welding machines can run off of generators. You can actually get work trucks outfitted with both, it acts like a mobile welding shop. If sheet metal and tube steel became available in-game welding would be possible. Might have to change "carpentry" to "building" or "construction" so they could share the same skill.
  14. Hello all, I did a search but didn't turn up anything concrete on this, so here goes. I would like to see permanent long-term consequences to injuries. If you break your femur and don't get proper medical attention, that injury is likely to stay with you long after it has "healed." Also gunshots can have life-long effects like nerve damage. I think it would add a lot of flavor, having a character with a bad limp or useless arm. It would also make players more cautious about risking injury. Maybe it could be like a hardcore mode in sandbox or something. I would also like to see some reaction when attacked or injured while panicked. Screaming, or at least cursing, out loud when bitten or scratched would seem logical to me. Remaining completely silent when being attacked by a zombie seems unrealistic. The noise would also attract more attention nearby. Maybe even add crying or whimpering when extremely panicked, simulating the characters inability to control themselves under such stress.
  15. syfy, you just saved one of my lives.
  16. Totally. I can't even knock them down. The axe and sledgehammer dont connect with the burnt wall. Im cool with having to knock down the wall and rebuild. As much of a pain as that would be.
  17. Preparing for anti-katana rant...3...2...1 Unless you grew up in a noble family in 14th century Japan, it is not likely you actually know how to use a katana correctly. Samurai trained their whole lives to use them, and there is an entire martial art dedicated to their use (Kendo). This does not include swinging it around in your back yard "practicing." They are not machetes used to hack things, they are precision blades that require a lot a technique to use correctly. Any katana you will find in modern KY is likely a reproduction bought at a flea market. Be prepared to have that thing snap in two the first time you hit something the wrong way. Also, they are designed to kill living humans. Live humans have the ability to bleed to death, freak out when injured, and get distracted when they lose a limb. Zombies are burdened with none of this, so the only way to kill them with it would be decapitation. you could stab them with it, but the slight curve of the blade makes this a little tricky. I have personally never decapitated someone, living or dead, but I imagine it to be a fairly difficult task, especially when they are staggering around trying to eat you. In a real zombie apocalypse there will likely be a lot of zombies walking around with broken katana blades lodged in their shoulder or jaw. I get the "cool factor" of using one, but in the Average Joe setting of PZ they just don't make a lot of sense. Maybe if you get your blade skill maxed out it would be useful, but until then they would be great at getting you killed. That said, I agree they should be added, just extremely rare. Giving people more ways to get themselves killed is always a good thing in PZ.
  18. I am all about it. Exporting them to a .doc or .txt would be great. I like to RP in my games, creating a back story for my characters and how they ended up in KY. I'm made several journals that are now lost, it would be great to be able to make a library of sorts over time. Looking back and reminiscing on the good times and bad would be awesome.
  19. Sounds great! I'm getting visions of Beyond ThunderDome right now. Modifications like barb wire, spiked bumpers, snowplows, and tow hitches would be awesome. It would be cool if we could use them like tents, you could sleep in the back seat, but it wouldn't be very comfortable and you would be visible the whole time. I think basic vehicles should be pretty delicate. I hit a small deer (maybe 80 pounds) at about 30 mph a few years back and it totaled the front-end of my car. Running down hordes of zombies is not a great idea in an unmodified modern vehicle. They are all essentially made of plastic now, and the crumple zones they add for safety pretty much guarantee your car will be trashed if you hit something. Not to mention airbags going off, if you've never experienced it first-hand it is an incredibly jarring experience. Once vehicles are in it would be cool to add a bunch of wrecked cars to the roads. They could be looted for supplies and parts, and gas tanks could be siphoned. Some could even be alarmed or still have an "occupant" inside. We should still be able to get around them for the most part, but they would add some difficulty to navigating the roads and a good chance to wreck your car if your not careful.
  20. I built a roof over the fire pit in my yard thinking it would protect the fire from rain. The whole thing caught fire and burned some of the log walls around my safehouse. I tried knocking the burned walls down with both a sledgehammer and ax, neither will work. Also tried building new walls over the damaged sections, no luck. Am I stuck with these burnt walls? If so I gotta move, and that would REALLY suck.
  21. It would make a great negative trait to choose when starting a new game.
  22. Love it! I like the idea of adding addictions to the game. Cigarettes, alcohol, painkillers, and anti-depressants could all have a chance to cause addiction.
  23. I think eating 1/4 will make more sense once NPCs are in the game. Right now you just have to feed yourself, but if you have 3 survivors with you and one can of beans, splitting it four ways would be pretty helpful.
  24. I agree players shouldn't be randomly penalized for performing necessary actions, like tripping while walking down stairs, choking on food, or twisting your ankle walking across a field. But I feel like climbing up a sheet rope isn't a necessary action, it seems like more of a shortcut. Any multi-story structure has stairs, but zombies can use them too, so you can't be truly safe. I like the idea of having to make the split-second decision of try to climb up the rope and potentially fall or fight through a bunch of zombies and maybe get bit. It's kind of the same with broken windows, if things go bad you can try to climb out and escape, but you might get injured. If your trying to get into a building, you always have the option of breaking down the front door. In the end it doesn't bother me if climbing up sheet ropes stays the way it is, I don't do it now anyway.
  25. Im against climbing up a sheet rope. They seem to be for a quick escape from an upper floor. If we can climb them I agree there should be some risk involved. This should increase with carry weight, injury, and exhaustion. I think ropes should be able to be used to climb up and down. They could be knotted so they are easier to climb. They are heavier than sheet ropes and fairly rare, I feel like that would help to balance things out. If you just want a quick escape a sheet rope works fine. If you want a means of entering and exiting, you'll need to find some ropes. I would also like to see structural ladders available. Nothing that can be carried around, one built on a structure. Building a wooden ladder would make roof building easier as it would require less materials to build and would be easier to destroy afterwards than stairs. Maybe a rare few zombies could manage to climb them.
