  1. would love to see dozers but they should be much much slower than sunday driver. they basically go at a walking pace irl. totally agree they should be very loud (engine and tracks will screech) and consume large volumes of fuel. basically moving one around the map will be dangerous and very high effort.
  2. I like the idea of finding "background stories" in the game that give you hints about the origin of the outbreak. just little things like radio transmissions from survivors, notes on the desk of a lab building, an overturned truck on the highway with biohazard containers onboard. things like that. Would be fun to have it randomly set at the start of each play through so you get a different mysterious cause for the outbreak each time. The result is the same each time though obviously. one of my favorite things when i first played the Resident Evil games was reading the notes and diaries of different people from the lead up to the outbreak. it made the world feel larger than the confined space I was wandering. like it there was history to this world.
  3. I think all bladed weapons should be able to repair a bit using a sharpening stone. but also broken blade weapons should be repairable using scrap metal + lvl 10 metal working. at lvl 10 you are basically a modern day master blacksmith, so why not craft swords from scratch too?
  4. +1 cool idea, would like to be able to attach to a rifle or shotgun too. should give slightly higher aiming speed too.
  5. I think fear-of-heights people should be able to live on second floor, but can gain panic moodle if they are near a open window or roof top for too long. would basically make rooftop farming and building much much harder. sleeping in a second floor room with the windows and curtains closed should be fine though.
  6. agree. +1 nice to have more uses for paint tins.
  7. agree. +1 maybe a box or a bag to keep animals/rain out.
  8. nice idea. maybe the occasional broken window? slight chance of fire from dry lightning? +1
  9. agree - there is loads of paint tins in the game. would make them much more useful. painting with a brush should take a long time, look bad. patchy and thin in some spots. each coat of the same color should look slightly better than the last. could also add a spray gun to paint i the whole car evenly in one pass. +1
  10. you're only trying to stop bites and scratches not bullets. (or are you?) I also don't think a full suit of plate armor would be practical either but simply reinforcing wrists and ankles would be totally reasonable in the circumstances and not too heavy by any means. I'm thinking of 1mm thick steel or AL sheet, about 20cm square, hammered into a 'tube' to wrap around the wrist or ankle with a magazine underneath for rigidity. it wouldn't be too heavy and would certainly be enough to stop teeth from sinking in. magazine / comic book + duct tape = wrist/ankle brace. ballpeen hammer + small metal sheet + wrist brace + duct tape = reinforced brace. It should significantly lower the chance of getting lacerations, bites, scratches, on the wrist or ankle when worn. In orienteering class in high school, we were taught to make emergency splints for fractures and sprains out of rolled up magazine or newspaper before moving a patient. Would be good if this would give you slightly faster movement if you have a sprain or fracture.
  11. I think the guns should deteriorate if buried for long periods. maybe you would need to prepare them with greasy rags before storage? another use for cooking oil? and then clean them afterwards?
  12. in a past build I went a long perilous mission to get a ladder from the fire watch tower in the Forrest south east of Muldraugh. I was so disappointed to find it didn't actually work. I really hope they make them functional soon.
  13. +1 agree there are also some cool doors around in the game. I'd like to be able to loot them too and put them in my base.
  14. +1 agree also magazines wrapped around wrists and ankles with duct tape. (should need to use more duct tape to put back on) there should also be a risk of cutting your hands when working with sheet metal (without gloves on). never in my life have I cut my hands so frequently than working with sheet metal.
  15. if there were different transmissions (auto and manual) in the game, then you could make any manual cars undrivable. I know people who are totally 100% incapable of driving stick shift. that would be kind of cool trait and would make the game quite a bit harder also. but automatic transmission cars are so easy to drive that it would need to be a generalized 'stupid' trait to stop you driving all cars. The character with this trait should also not be able to tie shoes, cut down trees or wear hats, etc.
  16. I think this has been suggested before but either way, I'd love to see this added. I have a feeling its coming eventually. I would really love to see performance and armor upgrades. even full engine swaps at high mechanics skill (within reason). bars on the windows would be great. stripping out the seats to increase speed and/or cargo capacity too. painting would be good too. +1
  17. "there's nary an animal alive that can outrun a greased Scotsman" would like to be able to apply cooking oil to the characters body/clothing to make them slick and slippery to reduce the effect of being slowed down by zombies when running through a hoard etc? this should also apply some negatives traits too. slower transfer of items, much higher rate of dirtiness (for body and clothing), chance to drop items equipped to hands, should also give you the "soaking wet" trait, after a while it should make you sad if not cleaned off. it could get you out of a tight spot but not something you'd want to do continuously.
  18. I've not had any server lag issues my self. even playing on a dedicated server on the other side of the world. I'd take a look at your connection for potential issues there. that said, I do agree a few seconds or even minutes of invulnerability at spawn would be useful server setting for admins to choose if they wish. I'm thinking noob-friendly servers in particular, but also for the scenario you've described too. +1
  19. would be a cool feature to add. I'd like to make towns forced PVP area's to make them more dangerous in multiplayer.
  20. first of all please tell me you mean feet not meters... but also - this would be cool. +1
  21. I have a feeling this is on the way. the dev blog mentioned they were adding off screen events indicated by sound and icon. the example they gave was helicopter crash. It would make sense for this to be one of them. also column of smoke for a signal fire or distant burning building. it could help with locating players in multiplayer too. +1
  22. surpressors are a no go for techical reasons im pretty sure. something about the sound still carrying to the edge of the loaded map cell which is also the range of unsurpressed guns anyway so there wont be any real effect.
  23. what about magazine in the oven? you could lure a pack of Zs in to a house and put a news paper in the oven and close the back door behind you. =house of the perma-dead.
  24. I know im very late to this party but im going to throw in my 2c anyway. making a bow and arrow it totally doable without training. I dont know whats wrong with people these days but everyone thinks you cant do something unless your "certified". me and a friend made a decent enough bow out of a palm frong and some heavy fishing line. the arrow was a piece of wooden dowl with a pointy metal pen lid jammed on the end, and a bunch of feathers taped to the back for drag. primitive but it worked just fine and easily good enough to hunt birds or small game. powerful enough to punch a hole right through a door. (we got in A LOT of trouble for that...) and we were only 9 years old! given some time and practice we could have refined it in to a perfectly relyable hunting tool. Brains people. if your not going to use them, you may aswell feed em to the Zombies.
  25. your going to have a tough time making anything useful from ore. its too time consuming, energy intensive and cannot be interupted. also you have loads of refined steal objects all over the place. (knives, forks, spoons, crowbars, guns, trash cans, hammers, empty gas cylinders, etc) so even as a mod its still kinda nosencical. Forging is hard and not really practical given the situation. You dont just light a fire and put metal on it. The fire needs to be HOT but that heat needs to be confined so you can stand near it. even then you cant just hammer out a broad sword by hand from any old junk in an afternoon. you need specific types of steel. you need quenching baths, tempering ovens, an anvil, some kind of grinder, hopefully a power hammer or a team of strikers and most of all training!!! forging nails and spikes from scrap is doable and has purpose. crude knives and axes maybe. swords and armor = forget it! but even if you had the training you wouldnt waste your time when there are less energy intesive ways to make things. weapon and armor crafting should be simple (practical). trashcan lid + wood + screws + 2x leather belt = shield. knife + wooden stick + screws + wire = spear (not a javelin) maybe wooden bodyarmor from planks, screws, wire and leather belts. or loads of glue and bandages. and thats my $0.02 (btw, I didnt mean to direct my whole ranting post at you Suomiboi.)
