  1. I don't mean to like ride my ego, but I still laid down a solid reason this idea of adding age (with affects) was just flawed at its conception. I will point out from before that adding aging in this game is a feature 99% of the players won't ever see, considering how rare and difficult it is right now to survive a year. Putting time and effort, balancing etc into a feature no one will see is a waste. And what is the real gameplay addition to this? What makes this fun? I go to video games to escape reality why would I want the effects of aging to be apart of my experience? Roleplaying reasons be damned, this is my character and I won't have the game decide he is going to be slow and brittle at 45. No one should be punished for whatever age they make their character.
  2. Yeah we use stuff called weed whackers and hedge clippers. You are probably only going to find a machete at the farms, but even then I imagine farmers have more efficient tools for dealing with it, or just don't have to considering they are in the middle of a flat clear field. Not saying no to it, just think it would be incredibly rare and unlikely.
  3. Extra spawnpoints. Yes. Random option. Why. Flip a coin sir, I don't think we need a random button for you to choose between 2 towns.
  4. It doesn't really, snow a lot in Kentucky to warrant the effort of putting in blizzards. Maybe light snowfall but this isn't the North or something.
  5. I honestly don't know what time period PZ is suppose to take place in, but I feel like it is pre 2000 where it wasn't commonplace to order anything online.
  6. And more? Anyway as per usual of my role. I shall give links to suggestions already suggested that you suggested by suggesters. But that's not all! I will even INCLUDE those mentioned links! For you to get ideas and inspiration from. 1. I will even throw in my opinion! 1. I hate sheet rope so I am all for having ladders. Kick it down though and you end up trapped sadly. 2. I honestly ain't a fan of the machete love, I mean it would make sense, I just don't know how many people in rural areas have one. 3. Of course need a way to put fires out, this is essential. 3. Again, not a big melee person but this would be a good alternative to baseball bats. And would be common. 4. Not quite sure why these specifically, but more random clutter ideas that -can- be used would help the atmosphere a lot.
  7. I saw stripper clips and got excited. But then. You didn't mean Strippers clips. You meant something else, That I still don't know. .... .... Oh. Stripper clips, Yeah those might be in gunstores, Does Muldraugh have gunstores? Not sure on the different types of bullets, that part seems a little farfetched for towns folk to be having. Might be farfetched for Fort Knox to have any either.
  8. Good golly oh mighty. I should make a tally of people who are taking things out of context on this thread. Anything said here, on the speculation on how it will be implemented is based on the quote from the blog. We aren't just pulling information out of nothing and running with it anything we do have has come from quotes from mash and the blog. I have no doubts that they won't ensure this isn't a trainwreck when released, but that isn't why I have had a problem with it. Tripping is being added to force a cheap way of difficulty and tension that we have many other better solutions for, its a randomized element (Even with the sentence below) that isn't fun in a game like this, and tripping will just cause problems and only hide the ones it was meant to solve. It doesn't charge through and fix the problem it just puts a blanket over it and misdirects you. "See here! Zombies ARE a problem! Make sure you don't fall!" As it has been mentioned by both the quote and Mash commentary, Tripping will be done in a way where you would be expected too in real life for people. The problem results in whether this type of realism will translate to a video game well, hence we have all the game design talk. Hence why 90% of what is suggested is generally "Is it realistic?" "Is this something that will work in the game?" It's realistic to shower regularly and go to the bathroom, so either your character has a serious case of constipation or its realism that doesn't work in this game. Just. Like. Tripping. Rathlord (God damn his beautiful ideas) made the suggestion to make tripping happen if you run and vault over a fence, giving the character the choice to risk falling or take another path. (I might have fudged what he implied so re-read what he said) The kicker here is that most think it won't work and less people think we should wait and see and even less people think it is a good idea, everything said is just speculation on what is to come providing feedback in a place where expected. And while it will all ultimately boil down to us just having to try it out, it is easily a feature I could see being removed pretty quickly if it goes south. (Hah Cuz Kentucky) It isn't triggered by choice and reaction. The shoe thing and rough forest terrain mentioned by mash perhaps, but turning corners? Or a chance to fall on the pavement when running? (Read the blog quote for this information yo) No that isn't trigger by a player choice or reaction, its you either play the game the way intended and fall over like the monkey you are (Monkeys trip?) or don't play at all. If this "feature" were to be avoided it would mean never get the panic moodle. So, never ever see zombies basically. Good luck with that. There's a pretty big gap inbetween a brief animation directly triggered by the player's choices/reactions, and "randomly taking the control away from the player". That might be true if it was anything like you described. But it isn't a brief animation triggered by the players choice or reaction. It is. Falling over, and getting back up, just for turning a corner or running while in panic.
  9. And that is why, We are suggesting, the option to give us a 12 hour clock. For people that prefer the 12 hour clock.
  10. The randomness you are describing doesn't apply to the player which is why it is irrelevant. Zombie spawning randomly, random loot spawn etc. Don't take control from the player, you as a character can still react to the situation however you want. Tripping is randomness that happens to you, takes control from you, and you have no choice about it. 1. Not hardcore. Challenging. And if you frequently fall on your ass when you are running then sure, it does enhance immersion. But I want to point out hardcore is for people that want to push the difficult to the limits while making the game challenging or hard isn't. Right now Zombies tend to not be a threat, and most people end games by going on a rampage to kill themselves or starting a new game. Tripping doesn't fix this, it just covers it, and opens more wounds with it. 2. No one said underpowered, but I can see how it might be implied, the panic moodle is just dumb in its current state, it needs more done to it. As I said, Reduced healing, louder character, takes a little longer to eat, move items etc. This is fitting to someone with an adrenaline rush, or on edge from being chased, that both adds gameplay and immersion, without taking control away from your character. 3. I don't think anyone swings a bat in a way that send them down if they somehow miss, I do think slower swing speed should be a thing for people not adept at melee. Since it would be natural for someone who doesn't use a bat or anything similar to not be as good at swinging things fast.
  11. Any possibility of Lemmy commenting on the more specifics of this?
  12. Gee, A mechanic where you randomly fall over in a survival game, I wonder why it isn't in more games? I won't speak for others, but I do actually worry about this mechanic because this has a break affect, we really have no redeeming quality for this, when much better solutions exist. And yes, not surpising it would get negative reactions considering it is against what Project Zomboids game design is, it's bad game design in general, and I don't need to see it to dislike it. You have no control over it, I don't care if it adds a cheap thrill to the game.
  13. They already confirmed no for zombie animals.
  14. I thought compatibility mode compressed the textures or something?
  15. You can't even avoid it, that is like asking to never panic or encounter zombies. You can't not look around or walk backwards either.
  16. Animals wouldn't go to a horde. It is a numbers thing. And I don't understand, you all are aware animals do go into towns sometimes and attack people for food right, like without the apocalypse? Just now we have no hunters or animal control, the chaos of a town or anything to keep them out. I mean once they DO start running out of food do you really think they aren't going to try attacking a zombie? And once they do find out how much of an easy meal they are, they will keep coming back because nothing will stop them. Further more I don't know why anyone is trying to defend zombies, humans survived the early years from having thumbs and a higher capacity to think without those we would have died off, we didn't have claws, sharp teeth, or any other mean, and Zombies have literally no survival, except ironically being undead, otherwise they are slow, useless, no real reflexes constant decay. And since we aren't having animal zombies, obviously animals have some form of immunity to them, so what if a zombie bites them, the rest of the pack will keep attacking, or the animal strikes back. Won't take them much effort. We don't need a degree in animal psychology to understand that if an animal is deprived of food it is going to get aggressive and look to other sources, and as time passes zombies WILL end up being seen as a meal ticket, and I challenge someone to try and tell me another scenario where somehow wild animals don't have a habitat problem, during a time like this, when it happens already.
  17. This is a separate problem that tripping won't fix.
  18. Tripping adds a cheap shock value when we have so many better ways of adding to this, or improving existing features to achieve better results.
  19. No that really isn't how it will work. No one forgot about animals avoiding people, it just that we know they would eventually start attacking zombies. Eventually animals are going to start appearing in towns and rural areas and will have to confront zombies, the second they catch on how zombies are slow, stupid, and falling apart they become walking meals for them to grab. And other animals will pick up on this over time. Zombies aren't like us they aren't going to see a zombie and think "Oh its so dead and scary run away" they will be wary at first but eventually the overpopulating of animals in the area is going to force them to find other sources of food which even today can result in them attacking us.
  20. I am pretty positive I made a point twice now to say Horror Movies =/= Real Life Project Zomboid is based to be as realistic as possible, it does not matter what happens on TV. A normal person has no issues running, doesn't forget how to walk properly, and doesn't fall over flat ground.
  21. Why would they avoid zombies? For a wolf a deer would be more of a threat and tougher challenge then a zombie would. Like I said walking food essentially for animals.
  22. I don't really accept the you won't know until you try idea. The problems I am detailing aren't just from not trying it out they would still apply regardless. The game dictating when you should trip is a bad idea. It isn't a minor event it is a shift in the gameplay, and any future gameplay changes, Most peoples reasons for having these in is either trying to make panic better or trying to make the game kill you. These are problems that don't require tripping to be added they have a whole slew of other changes that can be done to make panic better or the game harder. No. You really are the minority. Tripping is not the way to push you towards death, NPC's and Lemmy's supposedly "Operation Fix Late" changes are going to make it this way. We don't need an RNG mechanic to make the game hard. I don't understand, I have in my thread at the top a quote from them on how this will work, are you not reading it? You can't just avoid it, you can't learn how it works and stop it. You WILL have a chance of tripping when you are clumsy or have the panic moodle, This can occur when running, hopping fences at high speeds, or taking corners. You can't prevent these unless you plan to walk away from all the zombie encounters you have. The last 2 lines I am not sure if you are trying to irritate me, but excessive???!??!????? Is just obnoxious to read and unneeded. am i right in thinking that you believe that this game is based on reality???? seriously? i can only assume i have misunderstood you........ z No you didn't misunderstand me, go ahead and read like. Any thread suggestion, any new addition. The current game etc. Taking out the zombie apocalypse factor in this, the entire game is aiming to be as realistic as possible without sacrificing the gameplay. And I don't know why you have yet to see this when in a dozen instances the devs will even admit to the realism goals. I'm not a 14 year old kid! i will not smash up my computer because i died playing a game thats all about me dying!?!? As if 14 year olds and smashing computers are mutually exclusive. Or for some reason you think anyone who ever says they are going to smash their keyboard isn't just using colorful wording to help them express what they are trying to say. But take it serious if you want. I wouldn't mind it so much then but I thought the Zombies already grabbed and slowed your guy down if you were to run through or next to a horde in grabbing range. We are talking about you falling down, the getting to your feet. It will be done in haste but will slow your character down by a few precious seconds still. And you have no control over it. I don't know if being drunk in the game currently but past versions just reversed the controls. Making it difficult to control but. Still giving you control over your character. I haven't witnessed a trainwreck from them yet, but I don't think this is a feature that had any real demand.
  23. Check a house, remember those times where you open a door to find a zombie waiting for you and it lunges at you and that loud ass jump scare sound plays? Imagine tripping at that moment. It was unavoidable and the zombie has plenty of time to bite/scratch you now. yeah? and? (i turn the sounds down to 1 or 2, so don't remember the sound that well...but i get the idea) that has nothing to do with what i wrote. in the case you describe, logically, we would never open a door all the way without first cracking it an inch or two to peak in first. most likely with one foot or leg behind the door to provide a way to keep the door from getting slammed open by anything in the room. for clarity, i'll say it again. if i see a potential confrontation with a horde or rival NPC, and wind up getting killed by the NPC or eaten by the horde when i was doing nothing more than trying to avoid the problem by turning around and moving away from it....that i have a real problem with You mentioned avoiding it, but you can't really avoid the confrontations in homes, no way to crack open a door and peak inside. And you have a chance of falling if the panic moodle is in affect or you have the clumsy trait.
  24. Guy above is right. Rains plenty in Kentucky, it isn't dry enough for a forest to start burning.
