  1. Uh oh I hope they haven't "fixed" that. What you're describing should work. Are you totally positive you're reading the correct book and that you have indeed reached the required level?
  2. Same here. Oddly enough the one game that didn't corrupt was the one where I had gotten infected and was bleeding out
  3. I'm lucky, for work I got the latest and greatest 2019 Pro. The harddrive is the default but everything else is the upgraded version
  4. It's really inconsistent. Sometimes it works fine, other times I try clicking as fast as I can like 10 times in a row and nothing happens. It would be funny if it was a computer speed thing. What year/model macbook are you using?
  5. As of right now brightness, exhaustion, panic, stress, hunger, awareness, dehydration etc. do not have any effect on reading speed. You are as good at reading while freshly rested in a warmly lit room after a nice meal and cup of coffee as you are after two weeks of no food or water in a pitch black freezing cold garage. I'm sure there are plans to change this in the future but right now ( IWBUMS 41.20 ) reading speed is totally constant and only affected by the traits Slow/Fast Reader.
  6. And that works so long as the driver side window is open? I need to try that next time. This is completely anecdotal but I feel like zeds are less likely to notice you driving if you are crouched when entering the vehicle. Give it a shot next time you play. It could very well be confirmation bias so I'm interested to know what you find.
  7. I think he's saying that in an "ideal" (i.e. high school steady state chemistry problem) the heat will go toward raising the temperature of everything inside the oven to 100 Celsius, at which point all additional heat will go into boiling the water, and only after the water is completely evaporated will the heat start going toward heating things past 100 degrees. If that's our assumption, then any bucket that melted at >101 Celsius would be safe to cook in an oven if it were filled with water. Clearly that wouldn't happen in real life because things don't ever heat evenly, especially if they're made of different materials with different conductivities and specific heat capacities. (Or I'm giving him too much credit)
  8. Would it, though? I mean, if you were trying to carry it around in fistfuls, sure, but if it were just loose at the bottom of your bag I feel like it would be one of the easiest things in the world to carry around. Apparently a lot of gun owners in the United States have gotten in trouble when they go overseas because it turns out they had a single loose bullet in their duffel bag that they didn't notice until they got caught by airport security in someplace like Singapore or Egypt. Point being that bullets are basically a fluid that can pretty much fill any gaps in a container. The fact that you can carry anything at all without a bag doesn't make any sense anyway, so we should just balance everything as if it were in a bag. My head canon is that your character's underwear has a built-in security pocket for passports and such. If your character is strong they have big glutes; big glutes = big underwear = big inventory. I finally did the math of what's in the game; a loose bullet is roughly 5x as 'heavy' as a bullet in a box. That's way, way too high.
  9. (the point being that this probably happened because I was screwing with my save, but I thought I'd report it anyway)
  10. I accidentally left my game running for like twenty minutes so I copied the game folder and then loaded up the backup. Right away I was missing a lot of items that I'm pretty sure I didn't just misplace. Most notably some denim shirts. Figuring that I had just misplaced them, I continued playing. I found a Big Hiking Bag in a closet, right-clicked it and selected "equip secondary". I already had a duffel bag equipped in secondary and another big hiking bag on my back. The new hiking bag just vanished. Just totally speculating, but could it be that the backup game was still fetching information from the original save file and that was screwing things up? Mac is weird like that, it sometimes remembers the location of original files, rather than looking for them fresh based on file name. Or does copying a save folder of a game that is still in progress just screw things up?
  11. Part of me doesn't want to report this because it means there are more books to find, but I feel it's the right thing to do. Title basically says it all, the cash register in the Book Naked store in Rosewood behaves like it's a bookshelf instead of a cash register. I've been headcanoning that the owner leaves the book they're reading inside the till, but I feel like it's probably just a bug.
  12. One of the stalls has a trash can in it instead of a toilet or urinal. Not sure if it's intentional but I've never seen a bathroom stall with a trashcan in it before in real life. I think either the partition on the right should be removed, or the trashcan should be moved.
  13. The restless sleep trait's description says that it reduces the rate at which tiredness is removed during sleep. It does do that, but it also makes you wake up immediately after you lose the "tired" moodle rather than continuing until your tiredness is fully depleted. This is the true handicap of the trait, since the tired moodle debuff re-appears almost immediately after you wake up, unless you use sleeping pills to stay asleep longer. I'm not sure what the intended behavior actually is, but right now it doesn't match the description. Also I would argue that if it is supposed to make you constantly tired, as it does now, then it should be a +8 trait because being tired in this game is really, really dangerous now.
  14. I mean I do get that but 1 unit still feels like a crazily high amount. Socks weigh 0.3 when worn which is quite significant if you're doing a big haul and need to make choices about what to cut. I can say with great confidence as a human being that the effective bulk of a pair of socks while worn in real life is essentially 0. In fact, I would argue that they increase your carry capacity irl because your feet are more comfortable and your shoes fit better. It's also odd that all clothing items are the same mass. There's no way a pair of no-show socks should be as bulky or heavy as a pair of fireman's overalls. The mass of unboxed bullets also feels wrong. They should weigh more per bullet than they do while boxed, but not several times more.
  15. Can you elaborate on this? Is there a button you need to hold or something?
  16. I dunno, feels more appropriate for a fantasy setting than 90s rural america
  17. I like that it's risky to redress the laceration on my neck. Not only is the bandage dirty, but I never got a chance to disinfect the wound during the fight. Ideally I'd disinfect it, and at the very least I should change the dressing, but doing any of that might cause me to bleed out. On the other hand if I do nothing and try to wait until my health regenerates a bit then I might die of sepsis. It's fun bit of decision making that would might get cut out if you were able to replace the bandage in one fell swoop. If we're just talking UI convenience I'm down with it, so long as there is still a window during which your guy doesn't have a bandage.
  18. A pair of socks weighs 1 kg, and they still take up 0.3 kg of bulk once they're on your feet? A bullet weighs almost as much as a box of 24 bullets? A notebook with 10 pages weighs five times as much as a journal with 20 pages? There's just a lot of super unbalanced or completely incorrect weights that are pretty annoying to deal with. I never wear t-shirts or socks because they cost a ton of weight, and imho that's just not a choice that the player should ever be compelled to make. RP shouldn't be the only reason I give my character comfy socks. I might just have to make this one myself, but it seems odd that no one else has made it.
  19. I'm not sure exactly which build it happened, but being tired feels like a big deal now. Zeds gt rekt when I'm fully fed and rested, but if I try to take them on when I'm heavily encumbered, exhausted, or sleepy, then things go south, and fast. Thank you! It's nice that resting my character is actually important
  20. This is pretty trivial and probably much harder to correct than it is worth, but I figured I'd put it out there anyway. Basically if your character has access to a multiple pots of water, some hot and some cold, then disinfecting bandages may use water from a cold pot. To reproduce, have a few full pots of water in a non-oven container that is immediately adjacent to an oven. Then, move one of the pots of water to the oven. Turn on the oven, and once the oven is hot, disinfect some bandages by right-clicking on the hot pot. The bandages will be disinfected, but the water that is used will be drawn from one of the cold pots that is still in the other cabinet.
  21. Events do seem to pile up during fast-forward, don't they? The sound from multipe thunder-rolls makes me have to mute my speakers every time I fast forward during a rainstorm. (I haven't seen this bug, though)
  22. It totally feels like a curse of binding! On my very first game I ever played I got stuck with 1/2 of a couch that I couldn't place, and I couldn't pick up the other piece (or even find it???) and it almost made me quit forever ("this buggy mess the game must be terrible!") I picked it up again the next day and here I am nearly 500 hours later I think they've resolved the cursed furniture glitch in the latest IWBUMS, though! When you dismantle a heavy multi-part furniture item the two pieces spawn on the ground and appear to be droppable by themselves.
