I have to advocate the sandbox. Through this I get pretty much the zombie experience I enjoy. High numbers but low respawn/migration. Very much the 1970's Romero apocolypse.

Spawned in multiplayer, winter. The house had a walled in backyard with a campfire.
 
I got the cold moodle and started putting random shit in the firepit to warm up. I didn't want to look like a noob so I didn't ask for help how to light it. I think someone saw me picking things up and going to and fro the fireplace. When I started stripping my pants they finally took pity and told me via local chat that I need matches to start a fire...

So... i started a new game in sandbox so i could maybe see if there was any major difference in weather etc. depending on the time of year. Right off the bat i suffered a complete loss of dignity.... i was struggling to escape a small cluster of the beasts and i find myself bitten and bleeding. I checked my inventory and there were no bandages (fail). As the cluster grew in size at the scent of their prey, and as i slowly tried to make my way safely away from them and also stem the flow of blood, i realised there was only one option.... i was going to have to rip up my pants. 
 
I am now several days in heading north via the farmhouse and Dixie Trailer Park.... still haven't found and trousers.
 
What were your lowest moments in game? Has anyone tried Rat soup yet?

Thats actually an amazing good point. When I get killed or make a kill in Survivor type games, I always just saying GG when its save enough to do so. I never flame and I generally dont get much hate after a decent response like that. Maybe its because I grew up while the internet was still young. Back in the days communities were actually special. People knew eachother. Come to think of it, I might actually be blessed to have seen the birth of online gaming. It will never be the same again

In a game that is very deliberately more about survival than it is killing it seems odd to me at least that some 'other' people get such a thrill out of killing other players. Its also that some people are there to enjoy the game for all the features that it supplies and promises that there are some 'other' people who comes for nearly the singular purpose for sabotaging and ruining that. These some 'other' people who have nearly unlimited free time to establish themselves in-game competing against people who have just spawned into the game who may have enough time to play for 30 minutes every few days. These some 'other' people may say that they can just go elsewhere but there really isn't many servers to go to, the project zomboid community is still somewhat small, and the requirements for multiplayer still somewhat daunting.

With all of this being said going to be really candidly honest it seems like this is much less about the game is about survival (again survival, not killing) and much more about how certain people have fun (or whatever they are doing is called). Which even if it is permissible there seems something not of the very best mental health about this attitude or approach or at least it isn't the most sociable. Which why it surprises me none when these people turn out to be immature, trash talking, whining, pompous, victim playing, victim blaming, no attempt at sensible conversation, and otherwise backwards thinking people out there.

Because the purpose of multiplayer gaming is you know... enjoyable social time in a game you enjoy... and then get offended when somehow doing the opposite and sabotaging it for others somehow gets dislikes.

Except if it was that polite it would be a moderate annoyance at most when in reality its more like "LOL. U lozr. I rul. haha. i far ur mom. hahaha. you suks. me so good. u mad? go cry u tard. haha'
 
It happens in a lot of games and its regretful that there are certain people out there who don't seem to understand basic decency and civility in online gaming. A certain sportsmanship that is praised and sought in the real world that is lost on some 'other' people. You just have to sort of navigate around them...

Im always amazed by how many people say it would be like this a real life apocalypse. I know for sure I lack the balls to shoot another helpless person on the head and Im rather sure most of humanity would work together to get by. I for one wont be jumping on my neighbours with my trusty kitchen knife to kill them. I would rather bond together. Strength in numbers. It makes absolutely no sense to go on a killing rampage solo.
 
That being said, if you play on a PvP server its unavoidable getting killed. You choose the server, so its you to blame. I get it, I played a ton of survival games and the chance of PvP makes it more thrilling, but you will get killed and if you dont like that, you need to find a different server.
 
But, and this is a big but, in general all these type of games just end up in being a PvP fest with a couple of people scraping by playing the game the way Devs in general set it out to be. I cant believe Devs make the game with the idea it should become one giant ass deathmatch, thats just what us gamers turn the sandbox into.
 
Best solution would probably be a RP server with sides and roles and such, so your PvP is more structured if you dont like the KoS mentality.

If this happens, I will be farming potatoes wearing stockings, cowboy boots and a bicycle helmet.
