  1. Hey Dudeman, 'm holding my next play as much as I can to get a better grasp of the changes, and in my current game I'm already past winter. We'll keep an eye on your mod for next gameplay though Thanks! Yep, standard 1 hour day.
  2. There is a razor in game, right? I think this would be kind of cool

While you may have a point, there is no need for exaggeration either Last rough ETA for 1.0 was first quarter of 2015. Even if that got doubled, PZ is getting ready for the final sprint
  4. Thanks for the info. I didn't have that impression but I'll do a few more tests. I don't particularly like the system to build a campfire (too many clicks involved, a bit like farming), so I still think it could be improved by giving the player an accurate view of what's needed to keep the fire going for a set amount of hours. You already have to cut the trees, carry the logs, and start the fire... no need to make the process more painful Edit: Exactly! The only available way to avoid these moments of slow motion is to use campfires. Inside a home with no windows and inside the bed, you'll freeze.
  5. Hey! I recently passed through the winter months in my game and (despite not having a real effect on my character beyond the slow walking speed - no colds) I've been seeing the "cold" and "freeze" icon almost everyday... Even inside a default home with no windows. So, besides the obvious... give us warmer clothes ... I've been thinking - What about increasing the time a campfire can last? I could be the only one affected by this problem but I think campfires don't last long enough. You need to keep adding planks and planks... if you go to sleep the fire dies within an hour or so... While I understand that micromanagement allows you to make your wood last for longer, there could be ways to grant a lifespan of at least 4-5 hours to a campfire... by wasting a bit of wood. - New Item: Fire Barrel (probably suggested a million times) http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Burn-Barrel It would need some gas, but that's another way to use the little we have left besides vehicles In both scenarios (and any other you guys can think of) I think the game should ask you for how long you want the fire to last, like it happens now for the sleeping times. Make it so the more you want, the more you expend exponentially and it could work
  6. Good point on the gas! It surely depends on the temperature, but I don't think its absolutely needed to heat all crops to keep them alive. A smallest harvest? Sure! But it really depends on what you are trying to grow.
  7. There are some athletes who pass out due to extreme effort... so actually both instances are possible and I agree with Footmuffin both could coexist in game. For an average dude is harder to pass out due to just plain physical effort since you are barely ever putting your body at that level of performance. When we get pumped up by adrenaline we can over-perform ourselves in a great deal, but over-doing it would also lead to passing out... eventually! Lack of sleep can for sure lead to this as well. On this front I particularly liked the suggestion about adding allucinations (door banging sounds or screams) when there is nothing happen Its just the maths behind the equation what makes this a tricky subject
  8. I like all the changes made on the farming, and I would even take them further... once we get a system for food preservation that is not based on finite resource (Edit: And "official" irrigation please ). There are things that don't need much work actually. If you build a dark box for your potatos that keeps them in and dry environment (but ventilated) they last easily 6+ months (up to almost the full year... and I know because I've eaten them Not the best potatos ever, but hell, you get to eat). You will have to cut their little "sons", but that's all the pain. For meat and fish, the easiest way is smoke it. I don't know what can be done for other vegetables but surely there are ways to extend their life in a feasible way within the game scenario. And changing the subject a bit... Crossed myself with this structure a few weeks back (select level 1 in map layout to see it better): http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.8993879369734876,0.1584965645488269,549.4822078698371 It would be awesome if these kind of buildings allowed you to increase your winter harvest
  9. Thanks Enigma, sorry if the post was in the wrong place.
  10. Can I quickly and briefly go back to the exhaustion topic? What do you think about re-doing the exhertion moodle? Or just the colour? At the moment (and this may be my exclusive problem) I can hardly distinguish the differences between being slightly tired and being exhausted. I need to hover with the mouse to be sure. Maybe adjusting them to be Yellow (75% stamina) - Red (50%) - Black (25%)?
  11. Quick question, how do you know how much stamina you have left? Thanks!
  12. I just started a new game on IWBUMS. Its practically unavoidable to get chased by Z's and once this happens, you get tired too soon. Either from running (which I didn't) or from swinging your weaping against 2-3 enemies. I need to give it more time, that's for sure, but my first impression was that the exhaustion penalties are a bit too much, and they come way to soon. I'll keep on testing
  13. And (the shower thingy) could have an impact on the zombies awareness of you, if at some point their scent gets implemented
  14. Geez, that explains it... lol! Thanks for the fixes!
  15. here is my last... close to the mall http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=344874647 I'm going minimal lately, as I've spent the winter scavenging and needed small outpost to leave the loot.
  16. Sorry Pravus, but does this mod still work? I have looted close to 50 houses with no luck! Thanks
  17. Oh man, don't tease us! I can't freaking wait for those tweaks!!
  18. Sounds brilliant. Can't wait! If you are able to squeeze the hordes back into the game... oh man, then its playtime!
  19. Welcome to the forums! Nice first post mate While I don't completely agree with some of your suggestions, most of them are pretty valid. I particularly like the quoted part, 100% matches my view of the game. Once the player is a skilled survivor, death is most likely coming from either over confidence or a crazy movement inspired by the day by day on an apocalyptic scenario. This should definetely change. You could get close to the ground yield rate on a roof, but you would need tons of soil. We are currently using less than 1kg soil per tile! It should probably be around 20 kg of soil per tile if you want to get a decent harvest. There we go!
  20. Something should be added nutrition wise, but I'm not entirely sure about what that could be. Vitamins effect could be changed to compensate for poor diets, but I think that wouldn't cut it entirely. My char has survived for weeks taking only chips, and I know for a fact that this kind of diet would give you troubles in a few days. While not making it uber complicated, it would be great to have a "health" bar based on your character playstile. Smoking a lot? Removing your sadness with whiskey? Eating only junk food? This kind of paterns should have an impact on my char. The how, is the complicated part
  21. I completely agree, after playing for hours on end, one mistake shouldn't be the end of all your work! At least add in the option for people that don't like the PERMA death crude. What he said. I always do a back-up of my save at the end of my sessions, for deployment reasons specially (I like to sneak-play at work, so I basically have my game duplicated on the cloud most of the times). Even so, my 6 months character has died twice: One by showing the game to a friend (you can't drop your guard this in game) and the other exactly the same that you describe. Jumping through a window from my safe-house 3rd floor I considered both deaths to be completely un-realistic from a roleplaying point of view... so I continued with my saved game (losing hours in the process, of course, but not loosing it all). I understand the frustration, but without this system the game would lose tons of intensity. At least we have a workaround
  22. Yeah I tried indoors, of course. And the fire helps, sure, but it usually starts while the char sleeps, 4am-7am. The mood kicks in even if I'm on a bed, closed room with no doors or windows. I still don't get why there aren't warmer cloths. And umbrellas or any kind of coat to protect you from the rain. The first wouldn't allow you to wield two-handed weapons, the later could make you slower and be heavier. But c'mon, cold or rain being a problem in the first world? I've slept in the mountains with a good sleeping bag and had no cold problems!
  23. Allow me to jump in as I have a question related to clothing. Currently I'm at the end of December in my game, and I'm having "cold" everyday. I have shoes, pants and sweater. I think I'm using the pieces of cloth that give me more "warm" points, but it doesn't seem possible to not get the cold mood during the harsh winter. This is a bit of a pain, as we are not cavemans anymore. People should be prepared for the winter!! (its already so frustrating the raining thing... c'mon, mankind found ways to not get wet a long time ago!). I may be missing something, so please enlight me!
  24. (Love this thread) We are pointing out the core problems one by one, with nice suggestions that may lead the way to fix them! I'll get into this one in particular: We really need to find a way to make this harder than its now. Baseball bat is already devastating once you are skilled with the controls. I'll say nothing about the axe. I'm not running away from alarms anymore. I just get outside, find a clear field, and dispatch them as they arrive. It should be nearly impossible to keep the current fighting pace. The same tireness that gets you when using the sledgehammer should happen with every weapon based on its weight.
  25. I like this. I would take it a bit further. What if all barrels have a set level of durability. After some time, everything should break apart. Specially a hand crafted barrel made with crappy plastic bags. A level 5 barrel would just last for longer. Hopefully the implementation of Erosion will lead towards that path
