OS X Garbled World Bug

If you're playing on OS X you may find a big that temporarily makes the world garbled when you try to play. This is a product of the bug that keeps some people from using zoom, as compatibility mode isn't working for us right now. To rectify it, you need to replace your info.plist with the one I provide here:

To find your old info.plist:

Open Steam

Go to Library

Right click Project Zomboid and select "Properties"

Click "Local Files" tab

Click "Browse Local Files…"

A Finder window will open up- right click "Project Zomboid" and select "Show Package Contents"

Open Contents

You should see info.plist. Drag this one into the trash or right click and select "delete"

Past or drag the info.plist I linked here; that should have your game working for you again

We do apologize for this, unfortunately due to the way Steam works we weren't able to fully test this before it was released. We should have a more permanent solution up in 24 hours or less. Thanks again for your patience and dedication!

Another question... Is it normal that i can't craft molotov? i finnaly found gas can and i cant make KA-BOOM! it's unhappy!

Ok, i switch build23 to onlinetest on the game proprieties, but when i start the game, projectzomboid crash. i can see "loading lua" and than crash! why? what i must do? please help me!

Cheers, glad I got it fixed up! You guys may not see it behind the scenes, but EasyPickens is pretty much always guides me through the Mac fixes. I bring him problems and he shows me how to fix them- so next time you see him, tell him thanks =D

Worth noting that compatibility mode should be working again and if not you can disable zoom in the options which should fix it anyways =D

The recipe for making molotovs isn't the game yet, as far as I can tell, so although you can have the ingredients for making them you can't actually craft them.

It is possible to mod them into your game though, and then you can!

Ok new issue, i've Re-downloaded Pz, updated it via steam (talkin about the singleplayer here) an now Both launching it via compatibility mode on steam And/or using just the JavaAppLauncher within the files, an neither of them launch the game in compatibility mode. Whats the deal guys ?

~~That's… odd. They seem to both be launching in compatibility mode for me now.~~ Nevermind, sorted that. Anyways, it shouldn't matter. Shaders and zoom can now be disabled and enabled freely in the options menu. Try that out? If it doesn't seem to be working, do the launch from files and then it definitely should. You should be able to fix blackscreen problem right in-game now.

Edit: Just double checked, compatibility mode is functioning as it should be fore me. Maybe verify cache.

Is this the 'garbling' that you were talking about?
If so, I just saw it for the first time.

Sorry I missed this, was at work when posted and it slipped by me. That's not what I'm talking about- that appears to either be a file corruption or a server problem. What these people are seeing is a bunch of screen tearing covered in sprite sheets- there's no game world at all.

alrighty it's working now, cheers for the help as always Rathlord my man. the issue was that i had the beta Opt into turned on in steam causing it to update wrongly, instead of having it on "None - opt out of all beta programs" an after i verified the game cache. but it's awesome to see that the shaders option is now changeable in-game instead of in the config file and so is the ability to turn zoom on for compat mode, nicely done

I don't know what you mean by garbled, but I'm starting PZ via the JavaApplicationLauncher, as you advised, and I'm able to play all the latest builds without any problems.

RobertJohnson in one of his posts regarding MP servers mentioned that a guide for setting them up on OSX was being written. Is this any closer to fruition, do you know?

Is this the 'garbling' that you were talking about?

If so, I just saw it for the first time.

Edit: in the Package Contents of my PZ folder, I see two info.plist files - one in the PZ root folder, and another in the Contents folder. Should they both be there, and, if not, which one should be removed, and which one replaced with the file you provided above?

Try the latest version, this may be sorted. I've been trying to fix this but no one has answered when I've asked them to test this. Look in the updates forum to see how to get the latest.

Ok, if i click the javaapplauncher the game start and i can play, but if i click the game on steam, steam fail the start! suggestions?

Build 21 is the public build right now and does not include multiplayer. If you want Build 25 (the multiplayer build) then you'll have to find it. It is released and available, but we're not pointing to where. We want people who are paying attention and being involved to have it. Have a look around our forums if you'd like to get your hands on it.
