Limiting (Clean) Water

I heard water barrels will be implemented soon, so my idea is to have that as, the clean pure water. As water is sustainable so it can't run out, it should be hard to get (ish). The water barrels is a great idea and I am thinking that because of this, the tap water and toilet water especially should be dirty or limited, but only after like a few weeks or a suitable in game time. The taps should stop purifying water because of the out break and in result of that should start giving out water that can get you infected with the zombie infection it's self or other infections (you could choose to stop taps all together after a certain period of time). (I say zombie infection due to them getting in touch with the water drains.) Heating water should also be a cleaner more purified way to keeping away from the bugs, as I am a new member to the forums and to the game its self, I do not know if this is already suggested.

It seems unlikely that the water main would get infected to me. Especially what's sitting in the pipes after the power goes out- it wouldn't be in contact with anything. It might be a bit stagnant, but the chances of it carrying a live disease are pretty much nil.

I don't think water is necessarily a given just because of the barrels, either. I'm sure in the future we'll have dry seasons and stuff like that, not to mention the need to water your crops.

Edit: Oh, and welcome to the PZ forums! Glad to have ya!

Only the river in Westpoint would make sense to have potential for infection.

Just think, when NPCs are in, the water around town will quickly get ued up after water shuts off. Plus, if you continue to use the same world for multiple games, water will be very rare. Barrels are useful but depend on rain, plus are static, i.e. you need to remember where you put them, return to them, and make sure no-one else steals it. A few months down the line and water will be a valuable resource indeed.

Fighting NPCs for water.

Time to kill them all and drink the blood of my enemies.
