Please give us an Option to change zombie behavior in Sandbox

It was the same with Build 32. But I can remember that in older Builds Zombies didnt had this behavior.

Zombies will attack doors, windows ect. without a reason, without that you do a Sound.

That just doesnt feel right.

I could also see it when lurking some big zombie hordes through westpoint. The last Zeds in the horde will stop following me after some time and will just go attack some random doors and windows without a reason.

There should be at least a option in Sandbox options to deactivate this behavior.

I get it that this make the game much more difficult for survival but we should have the option to decide if we want to play with this "unrealistically" behavior. ( In movie terms, like Walking Dead ect. )

For Example i like to have to play with much more Zombies than normal but have them all set to slow moving and that they dont take much hits ( but do normal damage )

Also I allow them to build Hordes up to 500 but have deactivated Respawn and give them hearing up to 500 ( meters ? )

This give me a much better "Immersion" ( feeling more like TWD or other Zombie Films/Serial )

But if they gonna just without a reason attack doors and windows, even when I am sneaking through my Safehouse on second floor, this immersion is gone, because in this moment i know that its not real Sandbox, its just a script made to make the game harder for me.

Also in Build 33. I am very Sure that Zombie Migration is Script-Leaded to Player location.

In my last game i had respawn deactivated but migration on normal, my Base was on the Gas Station North-East from West Point and after I had killed there over 2000 Zombies i gave up, every new day were there 4 new zombies for every 1 zombie i had killed with axes and baseball bats  ( so no loud sounds from me )

I even had Meta Events and could see how the Zombies ran away to South because of Meta Shots, but the next day they came all back.

Please give us the Option to change Zombie behavior in Sandbox, so that they will not attack without a reason Windows, Doors and builded Walls.

Just put that option under Zombie Navigation skills maybe.

As an extra, a option to put off Meta events in Sandbox would be also handy.

You're imagining the change. The only alteration to zombie behavior in build 32 was the concept of boids, of which its settings are controlled under grouping: zombies find a leader, move around that leader, and avoid other groups. This, naturally, causes the zombies to move around more, increasing the chance that their chosen path will intersect with an isothumpable object. If this happens, they will attack it.

This behavior has existed within the game for years, but becuase zombies were largely static unless the player moved around the map, it occured less often.

You can disable grouping yourself.

Zombies also use path-finding to get from A to B. If they want to get from A to B and your safe-house is in the way, then they are going to try to pass through it. The path-finding tells them to use doors and windows instead of banging through a wall, since the pre-existing walls can't be destroyed that way. So, it may appear that they are going after your player made structures and what not, but they aren't doing it on purpose because you built them or that you are inside (unless they heard you sprinting around or something). The new migration mechanics cause them to do this a lot more than they have previously. Its nothing new in their path-finding, they're just moving around a lot more.

Ok I do absolutely understand what you are saying.

But there could be anyway a option to deactivate this behavior.

Lets say a Zombie Horde will went south because of an Heli-Meta event -> Now a house will be directly in the way of the horde, instead of banging the door, the horde should take the easier way around that house BUT if a television or radio is on, or a player make loud noise in that house, then in my opinion the zeds should try to get in.

Im just asking for an option in Sandbox mode, not to make this the standard behavior.

Just look at The Walking Dead Series. The zeds stays in the streets and go around the buildings, if they heared something which is far away. But if they hear something which comes from a building they will try to get in.

Its like they have simple navigation skills and they sort of know if something was more far away or if it was directly from a building. And if they know it was more far away, they will decide the easier and faster way and go around that building und not staying before the first building and banging theire heads against the doors for 3 hours.

Just my personal opinion and understanding from TWD.

But i think that Project Zomboid tries to be more like TWD that f.e. 28 Weeks later , with that super fast Zeds.

I was playing 31.10 yesterday to look at somethings, and had this exact behavior happen.  I went out to loot a house, seen a couple zombies running like the wind. Ducked behind a tree, looted the house.  Came back to find them trying to break through the windows of a house i fortified for no reason.  I will see if i can replicate it in 31.10 by shooting a gun outside my house opposite the zombies to see if the auto attack it.

Rethinking my previous post. I think this topic should be moved to the suggestion bin because its not a bug as far as I know, and what the player is really asking is for more zombie settings which I support. Evidence was brought forward for a different zombie type, and though i don't expect the devs to make every single type of zombie behavior found in movies/games, it would be nice to set up different zombie universes to play out in sand box. Like maybe you want shawn of the dead zombies, night of the living dead, dawn of the dead, horrible world war z zombies. I think it would be a cool feature to add before 1.00 hits as it would make decent roleplay options for let's plays and improve replayability in the long run which would attract more customers.

There’s also the new ‘Environmental Aggression’ zombie lore option in Sandbox for those who prefer to set their own world/zed state.

I am actually really delighted to see the devs listening and responding to this. It was one of the first things I noted about the patch notes. I think once its closer to release, they could add it as one of the cool features about the game in an avertisment like "Tired of games not matching your expectations of how the zombie apocolypse should play out? Step over to the sand box mode where you can adjust things from the amount of food available to the behavior of the zombies yourself! You can now play out those what if situations you've always wondered about or play through the apocolypse of one of your favorite zombie shows. The options are endless!"
