  1. Ah, ok. Didn't get that from your first post. Now, as you state it that way, I have to agree with you. Also, I did play a few hours this weekend on build 31.10 and I do have the impression now, that it already got a bit more life threatening than before. At least in the first hours of a playthrough. Brought a new player to PZ and he seems to love the game as much as I do. <3
  2. And it's not realistic. Noone changes bandages several times a day. Once maybe... Edith thinks, if it gets soaked that fast, you missed a step before bandaging or did something wrong while bandaging (irl).
  3. I like the idea. At the moment there is nearly no way to simply kill the player in this game at any moment. It would add to the difficulty (which is everything but hardcore after you played it for some hours) and it would actually bring some meaning to building a safe house, which the game lacks at the moment. Why fortify, if there aren't any threats left after clearing your vicinity. Never had a zombie break a barricade yet. It already takes time to break an unbarricade window. It will take longer to break four planks plus the window. Please, give me some "overkill"... Some sort of horde-mechanic is mandatory for this game, imo. The subject is "This is how you die" and not "This is how you killed thousands of zombies step by step and died of boredomness in teh late game". Also, in this type of lore the zombies aren't strong but become a danger by their numbers. The biggest killers are a) carelessness and b) hordes. You can't defend your base? Well, then run! You did not build an escape route? You forgot to add a sheet rope? Maybe you can learn from that. Try to escape. Maybe you are lucky. Maybe not. All hail, difficulty! Also, it is confirmed, that there will be some sort of horde mechanic ingame at some point, afaik.
  4. Wow, it's a pretty normal thing in Germany. I never had a home with a frontdoor, that could have been opened without a key when locked. For the gameplay and for being in the US, i guess it may be like you say. I appreciate the "locked house and keys" update, but these keys seem to be rare.. Havn't played a lot yet (half an hour since the update), but out of 5 houses i wanted to loot, 3 were completely locked, 1 had an openable window and 1 had an open door. I didn' find any keys... I really should find more time to test the new IWBUMS!
  5. I like the suggestion about food preservation. Make it a cooking-skill dependent thing and then, please, raise the drops of jars and lids. It has been discussed in an other thread. Drops are too low for these items. If it would require 7 points in cooking (or so), it wouldn't become too overpowered, i think. In my current playthrough, I have a large stockpile of nearly everything, except these items. I've lootet half of muldraugh in about one and a half month and found 1 jar in a kitchen and 1 lid at the mccoy logging corp. I have to agree. Farming needs further revision. It's a bit too easy at the moment. Well, we have to wait for the current class and trait revamp, but i guess even then: there should be more action needed to get food out of it. More not in a "more frequent" way but, as suggested, maybe more of fighting diseases here and there. But I don't know if that would add any more fun to farming... What came to my mind lately (but it's not really fleshed out or completely thought trough): Cabbages are harvestable a lot sooner than other vegetables, so maybe they should yield a lower amount (like 2-4). It would fit a bit better to the short time span they need. As a lone survivor, I'm not able to eat/cook 8 cabbages before they get spoiled, anyway. But thats my opinion and maybe not really completely thought through... (I repeat myself a lot, am I? ^^)
  6. I can "read" full pages without getting any content when tired. It's some sort of autopilot, always have to go back and read it again... ... with same result.. Which is why I love to read books again after a while. There are always things I didn't get the first time. I think the pace penalty depending on tiredness would be a great addition.
  7. And the bearings of a board last for ever... Don't get me wrong, I think it is a funny idea, especially as a way to raise medical skills. But it would be plain stupid to skill something like skating in the Z apocalypse. The risk of getting heavily injured is simply too high. Although nobody (except you maybe, in the game at least) would choose a skateboard over a bike. It emitts much more noise, it needs a road surface aaaaaand it is a lot more exhaustive IMO. And the crafting point, well, please try to craft a skateboard and post your results here, i'm curious. Then there is always this average joe argumentation.. Both for crafting and for skills. I think the kentucky average joe is maybe able to ride a bike or car. But skating? Hmmm. Maybe someone will make a decent mod (with ALL the downsides, please) for that. I would check it out. But i really don't think that it fits with the dev's intention of simulating the apocalypse.
  8. Do you really wanna break ya bones...... in the acopalypse.. ...without a good surgeon? I prefer a bike.
  9. But then the heat from cooking should last a bit longer. Atm it seems to take only a few seconds (2-5) for food to cool off after taking it out of the oven/fire.
  10. Though i do not use conditioner, u can apply it while showering, i guess. So, yes. What do you think, and if yes, how much? Edith suggested another question to not be a chain breaker by posting a wildcard question: Does your left sock match the other? Be honest! And the other way round? Oh, sorry, more than one question. You can choose!
  11. That is not what I said, but if you feel the need to rephrase it drastically... ...whatever. For my max realism approach I can disable the pvp-safety system on my server, so I don't think (and never said) that system is broken. Besides it seems to be a necessity for open servers, 'cause of interweb-peeps and stuff. But thats it, I think. Just a necessity for open servers, so it is there. This team up stuff isn't, imo. If you want an arcady shoot-em-up approach in this game, you may state that. And if I think it doesn't fit in (I wrote imo [in my opinion]..) let me state that. Thanks. Hugs 'n kisses.
  12. I have to agree with SuperJack. If you don't want to shoot your friends, simply don't point guns at them. it would be risky to support a melee fighting friend with a gun in RL (fast movement, covered target 'n stuff). It should be risky to do that ingame, too, imo. ----- Though there's this problem with unreliable aiming atm. Sometimes bullets go for targets not even roughly near a mouse pointer.
  13. As I said before: I do understand, that there should be other ways than a rainbarrel. For reality's sake. But it's a game and making it easier (which it would become, because I would have even less reason to face zombies..) does not seem to be the focus in development at the moment. But I, and (really) sorry if you feel offended, don't understand the reoccuring discussion about the theoretical "shoehorning" (or whatever, didn't know the term before), because I never were forced to build a rainbarrel by now. I would pick carpentry, because I like to build these bases. No one has to build a farm in this game. I can live by chips alone for a long, long time right now. And you could water crops by sinks and toilets (or a well) as well. Uhm, no. You got someone to build an "indespensable rainbarrel". Maybe you could maintain a difficult npc community. Don't know. This is theoretical, too, sorry. And many people are complaining about the "not having to leave my fortress" thingy. Well, I think it wouldn't make much sense to talk about it when game is finished... I am pretty aware what we're doing here. IMHO, it's better to discuss stuff, when I know more than just a few snippets and screenies about it. As I said, let's wait for the build. Or you continue to discuss vague stuff you heard a bit about. I have the opportunity to ignore this thread (but the dev's seem to care). There were (a bit dissapointed sounding) developer-posts answering these topics, already. I will stop here. I am very tired today (don't know why) and possibly sound more offending than intended (it's not my mother language). Sorry for that. Have a nice day.
  14. You HAVE TO build a rain barrel, if YOU PREFER the easiest (or should i say the most convenient) playstyle, nothing else. I'm looking forward to having other playstyles than the "build a base and never ever have to leave it again" approach. The map is already gigantic and the water supply from sinks and toilets is nearly endless (You can even do water hauls to a well). But, yeah, you would have to leave your base for that. Besides there will be NPCs with carpentry skills soon TM. And we did not even test the whole thing by now. This is an endless hypothetical discussion of the same thing again and again. How about just waiting for the testbuild and enjoying a much stronger diversity in playstyle then. Amen. There is only one point in this discussion, which i can understand at least a bit: A pot or whatever droped in the rain should get filled with water. But thats just another way to simplify gameplay, and that seems not to be the focus atm.
  15. This would make great additions to gameplay, imo. I also think a climber Zombie would be really cool, lowering the security of our fenced off bases just a small but enjoyable bit. Would be cool to see them climb, fail and fall, try again, fail by losing an arm or succeed and stuff like that. This wouldn't break the rule of "no superhuman zombies", but would let them appear more diversified. Now that I've read this thread it comes to my mind, that there are absolutely no Zombies, which lack some limbs. There are crawlers, of course, but they are also still complete bodys with arms and legs. Zombies with missing limbs would be so cool and creepy! Want! Giev! Plx plx! <3
  16. Pressing 'r' while positioning crates rotates through the lower, middle and high position. For example: Build a crate, press r, build a create above the first, press r again and build a create on the highest position.
  17. How about an option for playing as homer instead of average joe? Just kidding. The points have been made. When working impaired at most. With a pencil stuck in your nose or something like that.
  18. You can use a bag and put it behind a tree.
  19. Interessting suggestions here and there. The darkness in nights is changing with moon cycles already, I think. Sometimes it's nearly black, sometimes you can run around without problems. PS: Wooah, wall of text. Some more structure (paragraphs) would help a lot to read the work you did.
  20. I read an interview where Dean Hall referred several Zombie Games. I investigated them a bit and got stuck on PZ. Now I'm in love since March '14 and PZ reached first place (270h) in play time easily (about 70 games on my steam account so far). <3 <3 <3 PS: thx Dean!
  21. I second that. Should be more of an uncommon and with that more impressive occurrence in the late game. I hope, that at some point there will be some sort of horde background simulation with increasingly large hordes moving more or less randomly on the map..
